  • NOT A "How To" Video. JaxHacks is not responsible for Your Vehicle. Rig Your Car At Your Own Risk!... Example of a 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport. Universal Radiator/Cooling Fan Replacement.
    Fan stopped working causing overheating. Complaint was "no A/C when stopped at a traffic light". I checked all fuses first, as well as testing the current from the connector so I was SURE the problem was the Fan Motor.
    Dealership said no OEM radiator fans available for months and $450 each!? Affordable aftermarket cooling fans for this vehicle are all Out Of Stock?!
    **DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ARE PRO AT CRAZY REDNECK MACGYVER STUFF**
    We really needed the vehicle for work the next day. So... this is what I did:
    1) Removed Fan and Shroud Assembly
    2) Removed Factory Connector from Original Fan Motor (took some grinding, bending, breaking, more grinding)(also there was a tiny blue resistor between the neg/pos terminals... yeah... I removed that lil blue thing) (also I cut off the little side tab coming off of the ground terminal)
    3) Cut Factory Fan Frame, leaving 1 1/4 inch. (removed broken fan while leaving some legs to use as new fan attachment points)
    4) Drilled 5 mount holes through Universal Fan Frame and OEM Shroud then Bolted Universal Fan to the Factory Shroud Frame.
    5) Soldered Factory Connector to Universal Fan Wiring. (I connected black/ground to tab 2, this was important for spinning direction to be pulling air)
    Some universal fans are pusher fans that can be reversed by flipping the fan and reversing the wiring... Definitely Simpler to Get a fan that is already a Puller Fan!
    6) Reinstalled Universal Fan with Factory Shroud. 🤙

    I'm guessing if its turning off then its working wonderfully because that means that the thermostats didn't hit the temp for the fan to turn on so im def gonna have to do this and I was already thinking about it but the way they designed it so that you literally can't just unplug it and cut the wire to use a universal fan is bullshit honestly so im gonna have to grind it off aswell just like you did

      Let me know how it goes? Some fans have thin wires and if they are long and thin they might get hot. Keep an eye on the universal wires 🤙

    Another thing is that I have a high oeformabce fan we used in a turbo car we had and its ultra thin but I was gonna put it in front of the fan but the problem is the fan on the car we have now they suck air so it cools the ac unit at the same time

      I looked at a few fans that were thin enough but the air direction was a pusher fan. One fan at Napa said you can take it apart and reverse it to make it a puller, but the frame was just 4 legs. Def helped having the frame around the radius to make attachment easier, but I had to search the city all afternoon for a puller fan with a frame around it.

      If you happen to be anywhere near North Florida I can install a universal fan to your factory shroud for you.

      I can’t find a fan anywhere everything is out of stock and I need my car for work. I really hope my mechanic can do this. I’m in Virginia I wish I was in Florida. Nissan here is out of stock but the pric would’ve been $519.63

    My fan went out as well. My uncle replaced it back in November 2021. When I purchased the new fan it was like $68 total with shipping. Now, the new fan is doing this what you are talking about. I had the thermostat replaced thinking it was the thermostat. I learned recently that the fan is not coming on at all. So it's weird that it blows cold air when moving and temperature gage stays normal. As soon as I stop for a period of time like light temperature goes up and hot air blows from AC. Wish I knew why the fan keeps blowing out because this my second one and it's not even a year yet since I had other one replaced. Would you know what would cause them to go out continuously?

      I actually still have the universal fan and shroud I made. I'll sell it to you for $100 you pay for shipping.

      I believe it is a design flaw, either cheap metal in the fan coil or cheap plastic that expands and rubs and creates resistance.

      We traded in our Rogue sport 2 months ago. If you would like to buy the universal fan I built it will probably last longer than another stock fan.

    Thanks for the video. My radiator fan just went on me. Was running the air bc I get cold air when I’m moving but not when I’m stopped. Well it overheated my 2019 rogue when I was in Jersey.

      I'm having that same exact problem it blows out cold air as long as you running as soon as you come to a stop warm air comes out the Fan's not working and you got to be careful so you don't overheat it now I got an engine light on and it won't go off until the vehicle goes in the shop

      @mv360degreetrunheretheycomeaga can I ask what ended up being the problem? My dad's having the same issue and we've replaced the thermostat, the radiator fan itself, and the cooling sensor

  • @Chronic_Ink

    So when you mean by draws air is that pushing air towards the radiator or pulling it away from the radiator? Because I did this as well just didn’t think about which way the air should flow. But it feels as if it’s pushing air away from the radiator towards the motor is that the correct air flow?

    • @Chronic_Ink
      @Chronic_Ink 3 года назад

      And does your fan kick on by itself or just as you are driving because I drove for about 2 and a half hours and when I got home got out to see if the fan was on and it wasn’t.

    • @jaxhacks3223
      @jaxhacks3223  3 года назад +1

      Yes... Its supposed to pull air through towards the motor. And I'm not a professional, but I think it turns on by itself when the motor is hot enough. If you're driving the fan doesn't run. When you stop it kicks on. Or... If you turn the A/C on max and blast the A/C that should make the fan turn on.

      And it may not be very safe to drive until you fix it. Definitely don't use your air conditioning. Don't sit stopped for 30 minutes, as long as you keep moving your car won't overheat. If you drive with no fan you risk overheating everything

  • @angelodicenso84

    did you have to wire anything different because of the relay on the fan and did your fan have two plugs

    • @jaxhacks3223
      @jaxhacks3223  3 года назад

      Ours has one plug on the back of the fan, 2 wires = the power & ground to the fan motor. That is the one I spliced.
      There is a 2nd plug attached to the top corner of the shroud, I left it alone other than unplugging it to remove the shroud/fan assembly. I made no changes to the factory shroud other than mounting a new fan in the middle.

    • @angelodicenso84
      @angelodicenso84 3 года назад

      So the plug in the middles of the just has two wires going to it?

    • @jaxhacks3223
      @jaxhacks3223  3 года назад

      @@angelodicenso84 yes... Look inside the Nissan plug, you'll see numbers. #1 prong is 12v power, #2 prong is the ground.
      And new fans usually have 1 red & 1 black. Or 1 blue & 1 black wire. Black is always ground.
