Although I was born in London back in 57,Blackburn is my home town,I loved this place like my own family, But i don't see my old town as it once was, vibrant, welcoming, adventurous, all encompassing, Just a great old Lancashire cotton town, who has slowly lost its true Identity. Its just not the same place I loved growing up in.back in the so called swinging 60's. the 60's certainly swung for me,I do not ever remember a time like it,
It is interesting to see these pictures of places I remember (I was born in Blackburn in 1944 and only lived there til I was 3, but went back to visit the relatives a lot). I saw online that the old Infirmary is being removed and had been badly vandalized. That hospital has so much significance to many peoples lives - births, illnesses, and deaths in there.
The only reason why Blackburn lost to Preston for the "City" title was down to infrastructure and history. If Blackburn kept some of it's history it would've been in with a chance.
Nicola Halsall I hate the new mall, its over priced. Full of shit we dont need n packed to the rafters with idiots who have lost all their manners. Makes me sad
What a shame Blackburn itself is now covered in litter and refuse. The town center is grimy and soulless, every time the council embarks on more redevelopment it just hastens Blackburn's demise.
Love it, Love It , Love it, This was when Blackburn, was an English town, not a cosmopolitan metropolis, I know which I prefer.,and please don't shout, Racist, because it does not wash with me.

Absolutely spot on. Many buildings and streets have been demolished thanks to this clueless council and from the past
Please may we have our old town back ?.😄🥰🤩
Sadly the only building left from the latter part of the video is the thwaites building. All the others have been demolished now
Wont be long before thats gone too. Sad really
It is. I'm just glad that at least pictures and videos like these can be saved & shared online
Nicola Halsall so true. I miss old blackburn. Its just shit now. Every place I enjoyed as a kid is gone. Including guide village and cherry tree. :-(
I like the new mall but preferred the old market

Every single ones of the ‘unknown future’ buildings have gone...
We need some descriptive soundtrack.

Rahat Usman you just made his point🤦🏽♂️
Racist!!!! Sorry. I just couldn't help it. You asked me not to press the red button so I did haha
I knew Bombay when it was a Indian town until the British came over and ruined it. I know which I preferred... don't you call me racial-ist-ism haha
The Swan hotel is still there and pulling pints.
like the name of the barde on the canal.
Is the photo at 2:11 St Peters Boys School?
I wondered it if was St Silas. I was looking at that myself.
anyone know the buildings at 2:07?
fiaz shah it’s near Queen’s Park from the 70s I think. There used to be long wiggly slide there, remember that
Fiaz shah they were called Deck Access flats
Such a shame that many historic buildings have gone. Blackburn clowncil partly to blame
