- So I'm a hobbyist photographer and got a new camera, the Leica X typ 113. I've wanted to use this camera for a while but only found one for sale last month. It's an excellent piece of engineering and produces some great photos. I hope of producing more videos in the near future with different cameras, so subscribe to see new content!

I've had mine for about a year and I have to say I love the camera... for it's build and image quality.
What are the portraits like with it ?
@@patrickcazer portraits are pretty stellar if you don't mind that 35mm focal length.
This is a beautiful and wrongfully maligned camera. I have had mine for several years purchased used. Great image quality and I purchased the electronic viewfinder that completes the system. This camera competes with my more recently acquired Q-P.

Wish this was really priced as the "poor man's" Leica. The market moves with trend. As soon as someone makes a video saying something is affordable, the prices seem to shoot up. Especially when it comes to camera gear.

What do you think is a fair USD price for this camera? I see some for sale on eBay and trying to decide between this or an m8…there doesn’t seem to be a big difference in the price but I’m not sure which one is better
Entirely dependent on how you like to shoot. If you like looking at a screen then obviously get an X typ 113 (the M8 doesn’t have live view so you have to look through the rangefinder). With that said I think the M8 is a lot faster to focus and adjust, and it’s almost balletic when you get used to using it. Plus 10.3MP is plenty! M8 all day long for me.

Leica X typ 113 is an amazing camera. The only one thing I miss on it is a built-in viewfinder....other than that it creates wonderful images both color and B&w and I seldom need to process the files as the camera jpg are awesome as they are, and you can print up to 70x50 cm with excellent results....get one if you can ;-) ps it is also super solid built ...a pleasure to have it with you
I carry two cameras - an X typ 113 owned since 2016, and a Nikon Df (for those moments where the X just doesnt cut it).
I added a visioflex 020 to give me a viewfinder after about four years of use.
Some of my most loved images have been taken on an X - amazing camera, just a shame Leica stopped the series, and the follow up series the CL has just gone to its grave too.
How much on used market? I only found one for $700. You like the black and white files
Depends how long you’re willing to wait.. In the UK anywhere between £400 and £1000

I cant find any of the 35mm ones for sale in the US
They’re really hard come come by, I had a search out on eBay for a good few months. Hopefully you won’t have to wait much longer 🤞🏼
