Great interview and fantastic to see Andrew walk down memory lane about this case. Group A was so exciting and I think Andrew is right about how the telemetry has enable good but not superlative drivers come up the curve. You see this in WRC rallying too. With sequential dual clutch gearboxes and fancy diffs, data and incredibly refined suspensions you just turn in. Skando flicking went out in the early 90s and a young guy like Harri Rovanpera can get in a car and left foot brake without having to worry about heel and toe etc etc and he can win WRC rounds at an age unthinkable 50 years ago.
Great video and great interview! I wouldn't have guessed Andrew was 75 until he mentioned it, he's looking as fit as ever! Although I wasn't born during this era of the sport, I've come to learn a lot over time through various internet sources and watching the races and I've always found that Andrew was severely underrated and quite possibly having the most rotten luck that a racing driver could experience. It says a lot that Peter Brock had him on board for a number of years.
Thanks for a great video. I saw this car at the motor classic a and it’s great to hear that the project is finally finished. I have the original press release folder that was given to journalists by the team as part of the Bathurst campaign.
A fantastic video on a car that I’m quite fond of! Great to see Andrew, a driver that I have a lot of respect for & hear about the history background of this fantastic looking GrpA race car, which very little is known about. Even more elated to hear that it will be back on the track where it truly belongs, hopefully competing in the Heritage Touring Car series? Thanks for making my Christmas! Looking forward to seeing it back racing at full song together with a follow up video on its debut?
The golden era for virtually all motorsport endeavours!
Great to see Miedecke and the Mercedes.
Great to watch , i love the old 190e Mercs ,

Appreciate that mate, I'm definitely eager to keep documenting this car and what Andrew does with it!

I’m surprised he didn’t pay tribute to his former teammate Denny Hulme.
Better than E30 M3
