I’m confused as to why you can’t get a non public facing job with an accommodation for your joint problem, like a remote job that allows you to set your own hours and take breaks. The government is more willing to provide protection for those willing to work than provide for those those willing to quit. Disability is for those who can’t work, not those with restrictions that limit the type of work they can perform.
I don’t know if you have done this yet but have you checked with the Vocational Rehabilitation office. I watch a SSI /SSDI attorney on RUclips who is always posting new updates on the disability side and i’m worried that there isn’t or ever enough Money to continue paying out much longer. They have like 14 categories of medical issues for disability and then within the categories you must now meet 6 of the sub- categories and one being the dependency of a cane, walker or wheelchair. They are making it very difficult to get qualified and they now have a department to investigate current persons that are already on disability for fraud. So many are losing their benefits even though they meet the requirements. Ridiculous reasons like going out and planting flowers in a small garden etc. it is like they only want those who are totally dependent on someone else and can’t do anything for themselves. I have over 9 years of medical evidence to qualify me for disability and still I won’t get approved.
People are ignorant. I completely feel your pain. I cannot keep jobs due to my medical issues and even remote jobs aren't easy on someone with legitimate problems. I love hearing people try to play it off like it's so easy.
Getting disability at your age will be a slim chance. It's 2024 there's work at your own pace at home jobs that are plentiful where you can work around your ailments. Not to mention you're not old enough to have paid enough into SSDI so even if you did get approved it would only be SSI.
This is exactly who I picture when they ask what the typical young rainbow mob looks like. Putting in less than the bare minimum and demanding everyone else pays for their life failures.
