    I show you how to interlock your own hair in this loc video. I started my locs with small box braids, and maintain them via interlocking. I installed my locs and self maintain them. Which loc tool do I use? I have used the EasyLoc Hair Tool since being loc'd (now more than 18 months loc'd).
    I have tried the 2 point rotation, 3 point rotation, and 4 point rotation. In this video I explain 3 reasons why I use the interlocking method that I use.

    Wow, I am so happy I found this video. I've been doing so much research on maintaining my locs. And heard interlocking was the best method. But all those north, south, east west, one,two, buckle my shoe was just sooooo confusing. Thank you thank you thank you. I am a new subscriber!! As your video gave me life and hope!!

      Thank you so much. I will be using your two directions method. I was getting so frustrated because I was determined to take care of my hair.I am 65 years old, and I am so grateful that you took your time to help us that are locking. I started my locs with about 170 plaits. I tried once before and gave up. This time, I am one month in and still determined. Thank you.

    Thank you for highlighting this 2 point rotation! I have often thought that this rotation better serves fine haired locked naturals than the tighter 3 and 4 point rotations. People tend to think the the 4 point is the holy grail for rotations and it is not particularly if you have fine hair. it creates such a tight loc that your hair can't expand enough to give your locs a fuller look. Please keep highlighting the 2 point! I absolutely think that for some DIY lockers this rotation will decrease a lot of frustrations with the looks of their locs.

    • @NaturallyMotivatedLady
      @NaturallyMotivatedLady  6 лет назад +17

      Dee George Thanks! I have somewhat fine hair & I agree that the 2 point rotation allows the loc to expand more for a fuller look. I appreciate your comment. 😊

      That’s a very good point. I have microlocks and they have become thinner with the 4 pt rotations. I want them thicker without combining.
      Plus, this is faster. Lol

    • @vivi914
      @vivi914 5 лет назад +5

      I use a 4 pts rotation and my hair is fine. You just need to take your time and dont pull the rotations tight. Interlocking saved me as my retwists always came down the next day. I'm till able to keep my thickness.

    This is the best loc video I've seen so far. You have been the only one I've seen that actually doesn't do too much confusing commentary or rambling. I can actually see what you are doing and how you started. Thank you so much.
    I'm in the process of researching locs. Trying to see if I want them, when I want them what type do I want and all that. So many of the videos I've been finding are 11 to 25 minutes long and in the end I still don't have any new information lol Yours is to the point and informative.

      I'm telling you! I'm doing the same thing right now but I know I want them, I'm just trying to see the best way to start and maintain them and I'm seeing so many videos. Some are only nine or so minutes long, I watch them on x2 speed and they still take ages to get to the point 😂 The only good thing about watching those videos fast is that when I get near the end and realise they said a lot but didn't really say anything, at least I haven't wasted as much time 😂

    I remember everyone use to say don't end the loc rotation on north or south.

    It lay better when it ends on south which is going down.

    I also like the 2pt because it makes for a softer loc, I find 4pt and up makes firm locs like if you loced from braids but 2pt makes a softer loc similar to locing from 2strandtwist. It has more squish factor, which I like.

    • @sparker7768
      @sparker7768 5 лет назад +1

      @pheonixphire: does this "softer squishier" 2 pt. rotation lock remain as lightweight as 3 or 4 point rotation locks? That's what I had when I had SL, and they were never heavy.

    Thank you so much for this video. One of my professions is a cosmetologist and I've been teaching my sister and my older daughter how to do this I myself am on a loc journey. I started from a shaved head and three years growing. My older daughter likes to use this method that you've shown I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one that does this method I've tried the other ones, the 3 and 4 points and we stopped that years ago and just do 2 points and it works.
    Thank you again

    I am SO happy that I found this video. Your locks are gorgeous and you give me SO MUCH hope! My interlocks were installed on September 21, 2016. I went to my appointments with my loctician faithfully until I realized that I was going to be moving next year and after doing a search, I realized that the prices were MUCH higher than what I wanted to pay, PLUS I am leery about my hair. I decided to experiment with retightening my own locks with the 2 point rotation, because I CRAVE simplicity. It looks awesome as of right now. I guess time will tell as the locks grow out whether or not I am doing everything right. My loctician was very supportive of my decision and has offered to be there for me is I need her. Thanks for the video!

    I use the 2 & 3 pt rotations. Depending on how much new growth I have. My hair tends to grow uneven, in a month I have some locs where I only need 1 -2 point rotation, but other locs need several rotations. I just retightened 3 weeks ago, and some locs already need multiple rotations and some need none. But loving the journey!!!!!! Great video. Your hair is progressing well.

    • @NaturallyMotivatedLady
      @NaturallyMotivatedLady  6 лет назад +1

      choczRN 187 Thanks so much for watching! 😊 I have only a few spots that grow faster than the rest. I just do 2 rotations on those, lol. Or I will occasionally create a 3rd point and go in from an angle so I don't go through the same hole twice, yet still have the loc pointing down at an angle.

    Thanks so much. You are very straight forward with a cheerful personality. I just started my locs after being seven years natural. I decided to commit to this style because I’m so tired of trying to grow my hair & keep it protected & maintained. It grows and breaks over and over. Anyway, I call myself re-twisting yesterday & the back roots are already loose😩 I like your method so I will do that and hope it comes out good. Thanks again.

    Okay WOW that's SO much easier than I was expecting it to be. I've been doing research and a lot of it talks about how interlocking can be soooo damaging if it's done wrong, and how you could get traction alopecia and all this stuff. I’ve been solo for a few months. I use a plastic yarn needle. It took a few times, but now I come prepared! Mirrors in all angles, LOTS OF CLIPS AND PINS lol, and the thinnest rat tail comb you can find. You may combine a few, have to cut/split a few at the root until you learn your parting....but you won’t destroy your hair. Now, I have it down packed and I was sooo afraid at first. You can do it!

    Thanks for this first time trying to interlock my own hair. The other tutorial i watched it used the 4 point. But said you needed so much growth in order to interlock. It looks like it’s because the 4 point method is used. But with 2 as shown here you can lock with little growth. Which is helpful cause i want an interlocked look not retwist for an event

    I use 2 point as well it's way easier to keep track of. My question is how often are you interlocking? Your hair already looks so neat. I usually wait 8-10 weeks since I have over 250 locs

    • @NaturallyMotivatedLady
      @NaturallyMotivatedLady  6 лет назад +4

      Wendolyn Washington I used to wait 7-8 weeks. But now since I've gotten faster at interlocking and I'm using the 2-point rotation, I retighten once every 4 to 5 weeks. I could easily wait 8 weeks and do multiple 2-pt rotations, but since I retighten my own hair I don't feel like 4-5 weeks is too often because I never interlock or style too tightly. So I'm not putting stress on my roots and edges.

      Naturally Motivated Lady I maintain my hair as well best decision I’ve made since hairstylist are so high. I’ve never thought to do my hair so often but it might cut back on the time since I’d usually have a lot of new growth

    • @NaturallyMotivatedLady

      Wendolyn Washington It takes me a little more than 4 hours when I reti every 4-5 weeks. I used to take way more time than that weekly everytime I washed & detangled my loose natural hair. I choose a couple good movies (or RUclips) and the time flies. 😊

    Omg thank you. THANK YOU 🙏🏽 I almost died these past two days trying to retie my sisterlocks for the first time using the 4 point rotation. I’m doneeeeeeee. Only two point for me now. God I’m so glad I found this vid. Cause trying to go all around the whole clock thing was annoying to my hands. I like this two point thing so much more. I’m actually NOT dreading my next retie now 😏
    And you are so right. I found myself having to go back and untie a few locks because they were too tight from me trying to get the whole rotation in. 😒 ugh

    OMG you literally just convinced me to try this! I think 2 point makes more sense like you said but also seems better suited for fine,soft textured hair? Can I ask, how much new growth do you wait for as 2 point would end up being less tight to the scalp than 4 point? I'm guessing about an inch to allow for wiggle room? Thanks so much, new braidlocks in my hair, new subbie to your channel! ;)

    • @NaturallyMotivatedLady
      @NaturallyMotivatedLady  6 лет назад +7

      Kimberly Skrobol Thanks! I usually retighten once every 4 to 5 weeks, but I've gone as long as 8 weeks. I just do multiple 2 point rotations for the locs that have more new growth.

    • @deniselove5900
      @deniselove5900 6 лет назад +2

      This was very helpful because I bought the tool and was wondering how long I should wait to retighten my locs. I am trying to keep my hand out of my head to prevent too much manipulation other than washing, conditioning, and light oiling. I also trimmed my locs just a little. I will try to wait 6-8 weeks to allow my new growth to come in healthy and strong before I do my whole head, but I will touch up a few loose ones using the 2 pt. rotation to keep my locs looking neat. Thank you for your video demonstration, and thank you Kimberly Skrobol for asking the question on wait time for new growth.

    I have subscribed!!! This is sooo easy and seems much better on the hair in terms of stress. I think I will like the 2 point rotation better as opposed to the 3 or 4 point rotation. I'll make a year with my sister locks this November. My locks are very small. And my hair is somewhat thin. So I think this would be a better option for me when I can't get to my loctician or money becomes an issue. Thanks for this video.

    So I am currently doing research on how I want to start my locs and what I want my end goal to be. I love the look of interlocked locs, but I’ve been shying away from researching it because I figured that it would be a hassle and time consuming to do myself compared to palm rolling (especially because I want small-ish locs). Thankfully I found your video because a 2 point rotation seems a lot easier than the 3-4 point, so now I am definitely considering it.

      I recently looked at the reviews and they've now changed this "Easy Loc Hair Tool" to plastic 😳 (nothing like the one I'm using in the video). I'm sure the quality is not the same. But there are many similarly shaped tools that I'm sure will work just as well.

    I have thick type 4 hair and I started my locs with finger coils and went on to maintaining my new growth by interlocking for the past few months. Of course my locs are all different sizes and I’ve noticed since interlocking that some of the locs that are mature finger coils are bigger than the interlocked part. I know I definitely don’t want to go back to retwisting because I had an issue with my roots joining together a lot and I know I don’t want to get rid of my locs. I think 2 point rotation might be the solution!
