I just gave my daughter comb coils to start locs…some of them puffed up. I used that tool for the first time .75 watched ur video and I made the puffed parts less noticeable. Thanks for ur video
That is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. That is truly rewarding to know that I could help you. Crocheting is a very difficult technique to master for the first time without poking yourself in the fingers, so for you to actually do it and get the results you wanted, CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉 big props to you! And congratulations on beginning your daughters loc journey! How exciting!
Hi and thank you for watching. You are so welcome. I hope this video can help you.. growing locs are a process and you must trust the process if locs are really what you desire to have. Please keep me updated
This video is perfect thank you 🙏🏾 I have starter locs but my hair needs a wash every 2 weeks and I been trying to get locs for a while been impatient but now I will unravel each two strand since it’s already parted and coil my hair 💪🏾🚀
Thank You for posting this instructive video. I will be starting my own locs and want to take as much care as possible. I’m super excited about beginning my loc journey. I bought a natural twist gel, with natural ingredients that I saw recommended by another loctition with locs herself. Do you have any recommendations on prepping my hair and scalp for locs?? Other than clean, of course. Lol Thanks
Glad it was helpful! Congratulations on beginning your journey. Hot oil treatments, deep conditioners and getting a proper trim could be helpful prior to beginning your journey so that you can start out with your hair strong and healthy. Just keep up a good regimen to moisturize your locs and you will be fine.
To do the instant locs, it’s best on dry hair. To retwist I use Genuine African Formula Extra Hold Locking Gel. That’s it. Thank you for watching. Hope this helps.

Great job 👍🏼 thanks alot. with this video i can do better than i think. I've tried it before it didn't work out well. And I've been thinking of how i can do it. . Please How can i make it strong at the root the one i did was not strong it was lose and what do i need to apply on it. .. please i will be waiting for your reply. Thank you...
Hi. I’m so glad you are learning how to crochet and enjoyed my video. There is no product needed to do instant locs. You want to try to stay at least and inch or two away from the scalp. The roots do not need to be crocheted. Focus on the ends and the roots will begin the budding process on their own. I hope this helps. Thank you
Soooo- I had a consultation with the lady where I live. My hair is 12 inches long and by the time she got done with the lock, it was less than 3 inches so I decided that that sample was all I needed. is that normal? I see length when you do it, but not so much at my consultation.
Hi. Thank you for your question. This is very hard for me to advise on without seeing your hair but generally speaking, crocheting shouldn’t take that much length off your hair but it depends on the density of your hair. Let your Loctician know your concerns immediately so she can help and explain
I just got mine done....Since I was growing out a relaxer I asked for instant locs....well, I left with half palm roll mixed with some lazy crotchet. I didn't know any better until I posted pics on a facebook loc page...Im in Houston....where are you located
I used the crochet tool, and didn't like it, because you can tell they are not natural, because they have small holes, that look different than puffy natural locs. So I restarted the ones I did, and just me personally I like the natural look. But, most stylist use it to fix thin locs. Also, your right you can get really stuck by that neddle, you have to be careful. ❤
What utensil are you using? I heard you say crochet needle straight to your house, but the only one I know of is the hot pink and yellow one with the hook on it.
Try using your crochet needle slowly and at an upward angle and pull the strands all the way through from one side to the other, then use those hairs you are pulling out and wrap them over to the other side of the loc and use the needle to pull them back in and if it gets stuck than that’s ok. Tilt upward and pull out. Hope this helps.
How can I take your class? Please let me know. My husband wants these & has been asking me for years. I'm a braider and very particular about my work so if I don't know how to do something I won't do it. His hair is already long like your client in the video.
I use Genuine African Formula Extea Hold loc gel and yes you can wash as frequent as you like with instant locs but after 1 week is not necessary unless you have a medical condition or are expecting to get your hair dirty or go swimming or something. But washing will not alter or negatively affect your instant locs if done properly.
@@houstonlocfairy I just saw a video, yesterday where the loctician installed instant locks but advocated using no gel at all. Instead she said to wash and condition with an oil. The locks seemed to be god. What are your thoughts on this.?

Glad it was helpful!
Getting mine it July, can’t wait! 😃
So when it's time for a retwist, can you do the instant loc method so you don't have to wait for the new growth to loc?
You sure can. That’s called crochet Loc Maintenance. You can have the new growth crocheted instead of twisted.
Beautifully done. 🖤
Thank you 😊
How did you role your locs anti clock-wisely or clockwise when crocheting
Thanks for the content. Can you share the video link for this or any progress updates on instant locs please and thank you?
Would you suggest this method for someone who has dandruff or psoriasis but still wants to loc their hair?
Yes of course. This would be a great option because you can wash as much as you need and won’t have to worry about any locs unraveling.

Are you twisting and crochet the loc at the same time
Yes
So you jus poke it in and out? While turning the strand to one end ? Idk how to do it
No. You’re not just poking it. You are scooping and pulling the hair through from one side to the other and then tucking inside the loc.
