Crocheting is a very difficult technique to master for the first time without poking yourself in the fingers, so for you to actually do it and get the results you wanted, CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉 big props to you! Its easy both ways but i like the loc gel look better gives it more clean smooth look and the crocheting the roots gives a original dread head look. But thanks i need this video and i subscribed 🌹🌹

    I used the crochet tool, and didn't like it, because you can tell they are not natural, because they have small holes, that look different than puffy natural locs.
    So I restarted the ones I did, and just me personally I like the natural look.
    But, most stylist use it to fix thin locs.
    Also, your right you can get really stuck by that neddle, you have to be careful. ❤

      Hi! Great question. Thank you for watching. Loc extensions that are done by using the crochet method are permanent. Instant locs are permanent. Some stylists do temporary locs , but those are done using a different method and can be removed. Instant locs can be combed out or cut only.

    • @houstonlocfairy
      @houstonlocfairy  Год назад +2

      Hi!! Awesome! Budding is an exciting stage! So that’s tricky a bit. I would need to know why you are pulling? Twisting? And crocheting? A retwist typically consists of cleaning the parts the best you can to keep hairs separated and in their designated areas and then palm rolling the new growth only. Any loose hairs can be wrapped around the loc. That’s it. Now if crocheting than crochet just the new growth and that’s it. Hope this helps.

    • @Nikki_M00
      @Nikki_M00 Год назад +1

      @@houstonlocfairy I appreciate it! So yes I was palm rolling the loose hairs in but I couldn't get the bud to even out so I keep twisting and pulling it down to try and even out the loc. It sounds crazy how I'm explaining it! But I appreciate your word! I will just continue to palm roll it and work on cleaning up the parts. I'm trying to do my best for my baby girl before she is able to sit in a salon chair, she is autistic. Thank you so much again!! 💜

    • @houstonlocfairy
      @houstonlocfairy  Год назад +4

      @@Nikki_M00 yes I’m sure you are doing great. But there are no evening out the buds. The buds are how the loc forms so if you alter the budding than you are altering the progress of the locs. Keep asking questions and becoming knowledgeable! You are doing great mom!

    My question what is the average cost for a guy with a Mohawk to get dreads or started dreads??

    • @houstonlocfairy
      @houstonlocfairy  2 месяца назад

      It could be a couple hundred dollars depending on where you go. There are factors that need to be considered even though you say Mohawk, it could still be just as much as a full head based on what size you want them to be and the technique you prefer. For instant locs, I charge hourly so it can range from anywhere between $500-$1000. A consultation is highly recommended so that you can discuss this with your Loctician prior to booking the service and they should be able to give you options and payment plans. I offer AfterPay for my clients so that helps a lot.

      You can comb them out. Research the process. It is very time consuming depending on length and number of locs you have.

    Everyone says loc can’t be done on dry hair . How does it stay in place?

    • @houstonlocfairy
      @houstonlocfairy  Месяц назад

      Crocheting is recommended while the hair is dry for best results opposed to damp or wet no matter the hair texture.

    Are instant locs and backcombing the same method? Don't they both use crochet, I notice u didn't comb

    • @houstonlocfairy
      @houstonlocfairy  7 месяцев назад

      No they are not the same thing. Completely different. Beck combing does not involve crocheting. Bank combing is done with a comb. I do not back comb when doing instant locs. Only certain textures require back combing such as straight hair, etc.
