Would you suggest this method for someone who has dandruff or psoriasis but still wants to loc their hair?

Soooo- I had a consultation with the lady where I live. My hair is 12 inches long and by the time she got done with the lock, it was less than 3 inches so I decided that that sample was all I needed. is that normal? I see length when you do it, but not so much at my consultation.

Can this be used for root maintanence or are the needles too fast? I'm a white guy with very straight hair so my locks come loose very easily and it's always a hustle to go through all of them by needle.

What utensil are you using? I heard you say crochet needle straight to your house, but the only one I know of is the hot pink and yellow one with the hook on it.
