This video will help me so much as I begin my self reties. I have 344 microlocs. Almost two yrs locked. Going to a Loctician and paying $175. without a wash is not in my budget no more. I found the same tool you use at Walmart for $2. Thanks for the video!
Loved the fact that you are not obsessive about any of it and your approach is relaxed and “just do it!”. Very informative and very well done! I see that your braid pattern is not as obvious as it was in the beginning. It’s locing very nicely and yes I would love to see a video on how you make your tool. The end of it is so smooth you would never know that it was shortened.
Thank you very much for this tutorial! I’m about to start my microlocks by myself (this month I think) and it’s a relief to hear “I just do it as it works for me”! I was afraid to mess up my entire hair just because of my decision to have microlocks! Thank you again, and of course your hair is beautiful!!!!
You are amazing! Perfect tutorial. I did my own hair using your tool recommendation and your instruction! I didn't even mess up. Half of my head is done! Thank you!
Love the way you explained everything I had traditional locs and now I have microlocs of 434 locs that im so much more happier with cause smalls locs are everything 🥰
Back here to thank you for this super helpful video. I have been trying to refresh my micro locks for months with no success until I came across your video. I found the plastic needles at a local supplies store for 1.49€. keep up the amazing job!
Thank you for the very clear instructions, please clarify. Am i putting the needle in the same hole? For EX, (1)starting at the right & ending on the left for(2)am I then entering from the left and exiting on the right? I was stopping there, I though those were 2 points, please help Thanks
So you are going in from North to South or South to North than east to west or west to east. One point is North to South and point 2 is East to west. Just be sure you are going in a criss cross pattern. I hope that makes sense.
This video was so inspiring. 😂 This might help me at least do the front and top locs and go in for my back. Because I’m paying $130 every 6 weeks. And I’m that sister who paid for a haircut every 3 weeks and used very little product
Thank you so much for this video. Omg you got right to the point and didn’t waist anytime. I am subscribing. Hopefully all of your videos are like this. I didn’t skip not one part whole time I’m doing my hair.
I'm a guy and always wanted sisterlocs. Mannn yours are so beautiful and thanks for this video!! I sent this video to my stylist to use in my next retwist as it will be my first time interlocking! Wish me luck I have pretty skinny locs
I have been very frustrated going on this journey, putting braids in, taking them out. But this time I am going to put micro braids in and stick with it. I'm a little nervous this time because I'm starting with a shorter length. But your tutorial is clear and easy to follow! I'll be sticking it out this time!
You must be an educator, because your video is very detailed and easy to understand. Thank so much! Seeing how you retie your hair makes it seem doable for me. LOL
Thank you ever so much for this simple, yet effective tutorial. It is expensive to be going to a loctician every 3 months. I will be doing this myself from now on. Subscribed. How many Locs do you have please?
I use this same tool! I just made mine shorter so it's easier for me to handle. I've purchased so many SL tightening tools, buy this tool is my favorite.
Thanks Miss China me for showing how you can interlock your own locks with that special needle that you can get on Amazon you had the best video I've seen of anybody's pretty simple now I can do my locks better than going to the shop and my hair will not unravel after about a week after they would do it thanks great video
Thank You for this instruction. I'm brand new to locs and eventually I want to be able to maintain my own locs. This was very informative and I absolutely love the way your locs look.
Thank you!! You can do this. Just be patient with yourself. There’s no rush. It’s ok to make mistakes. You will learn and get better and better the more you do it! Good luck :)
I have a couple questions beautiful…………. 1. When your loctitian started your braids was your hair wet or dry? 2. Did she use any type of cream, oil, wax or conditioner as she was braiding or was it straight up clarified with no add-ons? 3. I remember you said your loctician was going to do a four point rotation when interlocking your roots but here you say you do a 2 point rotation…………did she ever do the 4 point rotation or has your root’s been 2 point rotated since the first interlock? I ask to find out did the change of rotation damage or weaken your locs at all? 4. What I’m most nervous about is my poo/light condition for the first time………if I choose to poo/condition once a month and choose to interlock the roots once a month (my hair grows fast and thick) I imagine right after the poo/condition/oil i should go ahead and interlock my roots while they are still damp? What would you suggest? 5. Last question…………….You said to keep your grid kinda neat you do something like a finger comb at the roots daily, do you still do that?
Lol. Ok so here goes… 1. My hair was blow dried for my installation. You can see that in my installation video on my channel! 2. I washed and conditioned my hair before the install and then blow dried. No products added to my hair at all for my install. 3. My loctician did my first 3 reties and I’m pretty sure she did a 4 point rotation. I never asked. Lol. I don’t see any difference from my 2 point rotation to what she did the first 3 reties. That was 3 and a half years ago now. Lol. No weakening of my locs at all. 4. I have done my reties both before and after I washed. I lean more towards doing reties before I wash so my roots aren’t as tangled. I don’t use any products at all to retie but I do spray my roots lightly with a spray bottle just to help smooth and clean the parts. The water helps to do that. Many like to retie after wash because for some the hair gets frizzy after a wash and they want to preserve the “fresh retie” look for as long as they can. That’s not a huge issue for me and my hair type. 5. When I say I do nothing to my hair, I do NOTHING to my hair. Hahaha! I wash every few weeks, I condition now that! I’m 4 years in ( I did not the first 2 years), add a bit of oil before I braid for a braidout and spray with water if I’m not doing my braid out just after a wash ( which I normally do). That’s it! Once the braid out is done I do nothing at all to it until it’s time to wash again! I sleep on a satin pillowcase so no bonnet or anything! It’s what I love most about my decision to start locs! I hope this helps. :)
@@ItsCinnaMe Your incredible, yes you helped ALOT. I’m feeling way more confident now and feel I can do this all by myself. I may go in to a shop every 6 months to see if they’re maturing properly and haven’t caused any holes or gaps. Oh my I’m so excited about this journey. I’m gonna take lots of pictures. I’m hoping for about 500-ish just like you. The maturing phase scares me only because I don’t know what to expect and what’s normal and abnormal. Ima just roll with it and see what happens. Can’t wait til the shrinkage phase is done and I start to see growth. I’m ready, let’s do this. This Monday is my clarifying day and then ima start. So excited. Locs fo Life! I’m bout to join the Loc family!
Yay!! That’s so exciting. Always remember that holes and gaps can be corrected. I get them all the time. Sometimes I fix them and sometimes I don’t. I just feel like it comes with the territory with DIY. Lol. They aren’t hard to fix if you do. Enjoy the journey and don’t take yourself too serious! Have fun!! 😉
I loved this tutorial I would just like to know how you began your locs it looks to me you did a comb twist. correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just not sure which way I want to begin, what do you suggest. I have had locs in the past I wore them for 10 years before doing the big chop. I am still natural but tired of dealing with lose natural hair. and want to try this method. Thank you so much I love your hair,
I have a video on my channel explaining my installation process. :) Depends on the look your going for. RUclips is a great resource. Good luck on your journey. I’m sure it will be great!!
You made this look so easy. Thanks only question I have is why do some people make it seem like you can put holes in your lock doing it this way. Your process looks so easy and I’m not seeing how a hole can be created
It is possible to create holes your locs but holes are fairly easy to fix or correct. Any time I see them I simply fix them. I don’t always fix them though. They are a part of the process for me. No big deal at all.
@@ItsCinnaMe how do you fix the holes? That is the one issue I have had consistently. I've started small braids and have combed and picked them out because I keep forming holes. I'm going to start them again though because I really want to have DIY micro braids locs.
Do you find the thickness changes from doing a4 point to a2 point. Thicker on the bottom of the loc verses the root? I’m trying to figure out what I need to do because I’ve noticed thinning at the root and I have Sisterlock which were started with a4 point rotation.
I have pretty much done a 2 point rotation the entire time except for my first 2 retires that we’re done my locticians. I do have a few that are thinner than at the root then when they were started but I don’t think it’s from the rotation. I think mine came from friction, locking hair together from a neighboring Loc and pulling it apart or running my fingers through it too roughly at the root and pulling hairs out of the loc. That’s what I think anyway for me. But to answer your question .. I don’t notice any difference from the 4 point part to the 2 point part for me.
You're constantly manipulating the root-to-3 in he's of new growth. It's going to appear tighter, not as thick, etc, than the rest of the loc...especially if you don't palm roll the length of the loc as you go.
YOU ARE THE BOMB! I SUBBED FO SHO! I am mid back and been wanting to do microlocs diy for the last several years but too afraid on not doing it right. I realize it’s not about right, it’s about confidence in myself and not wanting to fork over hundreds and thousands for what I know I can do myself. YOU GOT ME PUMPED! My cycle week is my time for me because my husband leaves me ALONE. Sit looks like once a month is for me. Im Ready. I going to clarify my hair and start my micro twist. My only thing is that I like loose ends (maybe 2 inches worth) because my Paul Mitchell ‘The Conditioner’ gives my ends the most beautiful curl pops on the end. My question to you is, if I start my lock journey with two strand micro twist , what’s way, in your unprofessional opinion would you make a demarcation from the micro twist to the loose end? My thought is to tie a knot to end the micro twist two inches from my loose end. This look I plan on dying with, I am not one to go back and forth, I been in minitwist for 20 years on and off only because I was afraid of interlocking my roots myself……..until now…….I’m not afraid anymore. but I’d like your suggestion about a google method to lock keep my end portion loose to keeping it curly on the ends of my soon to be microloc journey started with two strand twist or maybe perhaps micro braids may be even better??? Can’t figure this out, please help!
Hahaha!!! Hey there! I’m glad you’re deciding to move forward on locs. I don’t think you will regret it one bit. Now as for loose ends, I’m not sure what to tell you to do with that. Me starting with braids, I never had to worry about unraveling. Mine are braided close to the ends and is still fairly loose at the very end. I feel like a twist will be harder to keep together but can definitely be done. Good luck to you! Be patient with yourself and don’t take anything about this journey too seriously. I’m the end it’s just hair. Have fun!! Let me know how it goes :)
Absolutely! Found mines at Joanns and Walmart. I cut them down, and burn the end, and mold it. I cut them down so its easier to fit in my hand. I’ve done three reties since November so far, and only broke one tool. Best investment ever. I don’t buy any tools from anywhere else. They’re so pricey
I’m struggling to make it to 4/5 weeks because I end up losing my grid and my roots try to marry. It could be too I’m washing once a week to keep the itch away
Yes. Washing definitely help to encourage the roots to loc. As long as your not doing your reties too tight I don’t see a problem doing it as often as you like. That’s the beauty of doing it yourself!
hi, you have beautiful hair!! I am thinking of getting sisterlocks just wanted to ask if you used a specific grid at the start and also did u initially loc your hair with the two point rotation?
What rotation did you start of with? I started with a 4pt, but I recently did a 2pt. I have hair coming out and fixing holes in my locs which I really hate.
Hello I want to get sisterlocks however I wanted to start with extensions and I wanted to know can I start my sisterlocks with braids ? And when it's time to retighten could I then use the four point interlock? And am doing my hair myself. Thanks I look forward to your reply.
I actually started my locs with braids. I maintain them by interlocking. I did start with my own hair but I imagine you could add extensions to start also. I just don’t have any advice.
May i ask why you wash after you retie and not before? Doesn't washing it after the retie make the hair look a little frizzy and not fresh? Just wondering...
Thanks for sharing. How long have you been retightening your hair? Why did you decide to maintain your hair? It would be much quicker with a trained sister loc technician.
Hey!! I’ve had these locs for 3 yrs. I’ve only had someone else do my hair the first 3 retightens. I’ve done it myself from then until now. I do it myself because I just don’t see a need to pay for something I can do myself. I can’t say I’m not tempted many times knowing full well someone else can do it much faster. I just keep telling myself there is no rush. I just do it at my own pace whenever I feel like doing it. Lol.
@@ItsCinnaMe I think that they asked this because they were wanting to know if it's best to wash your hair and then retie it because it's usually best to do it in that order so they your retie stays looking fresh and not all frizzy and loosen up right after retightening it.Most people don't want that right after getting a fresh retie, unless they don't really care about the fresh retie look were the parts are more visible. Plus when your small locs are newer they tend to frizz more and have slippage at the ends and roots sometimes. I know that if I wash my baby locs right after I do a fresh retie, it looks as if I never retightened it and looks supper frizzy at the roots. I don't mind that looks about 2 weeks after, but don't want that look right after a fresh retie.
Should we always remember the order we went in for every session? For ex: for the first retie, I did north to south then east to west. Should I start off east to west or keep doing north to south?
Absolutely! It will still look good. Plus there are ways to easily correct any errors. I just don’t stress about anything at all when it comes to my hair. This style it the best for that!
If your hair is locked now, meaning the locs that you have now have started to Loc, I don’t see any reason for you to not be able to interlock starting now. If they aren’t locked yet the I would wait given the extra washing that may need to happen based on your basketball schedule right now.
1 pt would be only north to south (as an example). I’m doing 2pt which is north to south and then east to west. That makes what I do 2pt ( 2 entry pt) rotation.
This video will help me so much as I begin my self reties.
I have 344 microlocs. Almost two yrs locked. Going to a Loctician and paying $175. without a wash is not in my budget no more. I found the same tool you use at Walmart for $2.

Dang, that spell check rearranged everything I said 🤦🏽♀
Hahaha!!!
Tapestry needles great idea
The best!! Better than tools 5 times the price 🙌🏾
Great video! Your hair looks great!! How long have you been loc’d?
Thank you! My install was May 2019. I have a install video on my channel as well. :)
Great video!! May i ask how many locs you have?
I have a video on my channel counting them. :). I should have about 460 or so at this point.
@@ItsCinnaMe Oh ok. Thank you. Do you also have a video with how you retie the back of your head?
I don’t. I may just do that. Lol
@@ItsCinnaMe yes, please make a video about how you retie the back of your head. ☺️
I’ll work on that. :)
This video has helped me but this is my first time doing this so I am getting a lot of knots what do I do
Nicely Done 👌🏽
Your locs are beautiful 😍
Thanks for sharing this helpful info!
Yay!! I’m glad. You’re welcome!
Lord knows I couldn't do it , it's too much , but it's beautiful
Lol. Thank you!!
Very informative. Thank you!
That’s the beauty of doing it yourself!
here watching...
Do you have sisterlock? Btw, excellent instructional video. Thanks for sharing. ....beautiful hair and u2...
I technically have braid locks. I started my locs with braids and maintain them by interlocking. Thank youuuu!!!
hi, you have beautiful hair!! I am thinking of getting sisterlocks just wanted to ask if you used a specific grid at the start and also did u initially loc your hair with the two point rotation?
I had someone start mine for me. She did a grid and started them from braids. I’ve done the 2 point rotation since they were installed.
What rotation did you start of with? I started with a 4pt, but I recently did a 2pt. I have hair coming out and fixing holes in my locs which I really hate.
LOOKS BEAUTIFUL
Thank you!!
Your locs are Beautiful! ♥️
Thank youuuu!🥰
Great Job!
I have a pattern 4 rotation, can this be switched to a 3 or 2 rotation? Also I have some locs which needs to be joined ,is that easy to do?
May i ask why you wash after you retie and not before? Doesn't washing it after the retie make the hair look a little frizzy and not fresh? Just wondering...
I love the "DISCLAIMER "!.....I AM NOT....😂
Hahaha!! I just wanted to be sure that is Crystal CLEAR! 😂😂
Lol.
How long have been using 2pt rotation? I like the fullness in your locs. Beautiful ❤️
Thank you!! I had someone else do my first 3 retightenings and I’ve been doing 2point rotation myself since then. So about 3 yrs!
@@ItsCinnaMe I may try 2pt rotation myself. It's seems easier. I've been loc'd for about a year using 4pt rotation.
Give it a try!
Yes Ma'am!!! 💜💜💜💜!!!
Thank you!!
Awesome job!
Thanks girl!! Thanks for watching
Were u get the blue one from
I’m distracted by your natural beauty. The background is very fitting.
Thank you!! 🥰😘
The Best... Thank you
You’re welcome!
How long did it take to originally lock your hair??
28 hrs. I have a video about my installation on my channel
So you retie then wash??
Ive tried it both washed and unwashed and the both had the same result for me. I just do it whenever it’s convenient. Lol
I can see how this would be. I don’t see a difference for me but I do see how at different stages in a Loc journey, the results would be different.
Can you tell me where can I buy that tools you are using
Should we always remember the order we went in for every session? For ex: for the first retie, I did north to south then east to west. Should I start off east to west or keep doing north to south?
It’s always best to try to remember direction but to be honest I don’t stress over it. Lol.
@@ItsCinnaMe thank you 😭. Because the whole reason I even did locs was to be even less worried about my hair and not spend as much time
Absolutely! It will still look good. Plus there are ways to easily correct any errors. I just don’t stress about anything at all when it comes to my hair. This style it the best for that!
Can you make a needle for locking?
my basketball season is about to start , and i have practice every single day and games 3 times a week do u think i should interloc?
Do you already have locs?
@@ItsCinnaMe yes i have had them for 4 months
If your hair is locked now, meaning the locs that you have now have started to Loc, I don’t see any reason for you to not be able to interlock starting now. If they aren’t locked yet the I would wait given the extra washing that may need to happen based on your basketball schedule right now.
What about going in the same direction I was hearing it’s not good because it can damage your hair.
It’s always best to go in the same direction but a mistake or 2 is ok.
Do you mean 1 pt rotation?
1 pt would be only north to south (as an example). I’m doing 2pt which is north to south and then east to west. That makes what I do 2pt ( 2 entry pt) rotation.
Beautiful
Perfect
Thanks

How do you tighten it?
The way I explained in the video. :)
