- CAPCOM's "NEXT 2024" event gave us more footage and information about the DEAD RISING Deluxe Remaster than anyone anticipated. Today, we attempt to comb through some of the new footage and take a closer look.

Honestly, making a full game out of the Case West dlc that has never been released outside of the Xbox 360 would be amazing. I feel like that dlc is sorely needing a lot of changes and improvements plus it'll give us more interactions between Frank and Chuck
Just a guess on my part. Seeing that Chuck Greene outfit on the pre order makes me think they'll do DR2DR next if this does well. Maybe after that a new DR3 game that will act as a continuation of these deluxe remasters (making the universe go in a different direction). It is more of a hope on my part. I like DR3 but I would prefer a different timeline and have a new game with Chuck and Frank as the playable characters. Like Flame_Blaziken mentioned, a full Case West game would be awesome.
Lets not forget the potential of DR2OTRDR lol

As little as it matters to the masses, that option to fast forward time will make speed-running this game less convoluted than the original. No more having to tinker with game files just to avoid "competitive waiting"

I was surprised to hear the director saying that they wouldn't change character animations because they were important to the charm and humor of the original. That's the kind of attention to detail that remasters need to care about.

Hope you're in better spirits, man. Love Dead Rising to death, and you practically built half of the community and Capcom just ignored you. Yeah, maybe you could have done some things different, but who cares, really? We're all human, we do stupid things. I wish you the best, and that you're taking care of yourself. Not really sure why so many people are so mean about this whole thing.
I think he's responsible for more than half of the English speaking DR1 community today. The only other comparable creator I can think of is Marcel Vos, like yeah every likes and remembers the game, but way less people would hear about the remake if it wasn't for STiP0. In Marcel's case, they did "remake" RCT1/2 (RCT Classic) but you probably haven't heard about it, but if they did another, because of Marcel, you'd hear about it.
Then there's the Dunkey LoL thing, but I didn't care about it because I don't like the game, so I can't speak further on the topic.
Lastly, there were a few Saint's Row creators, but the most analogical one to this would be Flippy, but anyone is tired of reading this by now so they can look it up themselves if they want to know.
Most of the hate comments are from channels who's only comments are on this video, meaning they never heard of STiP0 before, saw a news article about it, and came without any knowledge of what he's actually done, and isn't just some "DR content creator". He's the DR community creator.
Can't believe they desecrated Frank the way they did. He looks completely unrecognizable. The fact they chose not to pop his shirt collar is heinous and unforgivable and I will definitely be playing this the millisecond it releases.

The healthbar for items might be TOO helpful. It was more stressful not to know when a weapon was going to break

Honestly, adding to that stress level of never knowing if your item was on its last zombie hit was what really brought the surviving element the most
Being able to use large props as bullet shields really makes me feel catered to as somebody who tried to approach Carlito using the parasol's battering ram move as a shield during the sniper fight and got really disappointed that it didn't work as a kid.
My only complaint so far is Frank's Vegeta level of a widows peak

This game is a core memory for me. I'll never forget almost crapping myself as a kid the first time the lights went off in the mall. I can't wait to experience that same moment in this remaster

The dedication, the love and the passion you give towards Dead Rising really warms my heart and to see someone who is going through a rough time really saddens my heart. This game has been apart of my life since childhood. Not only is the remake getting released on near my birthday, we have the Thug zombie back but we have STAIRS for the survivors to climb. Long gone are the days of running into them hoping to break the animation so one can jump up. Glad you’re still alive Stipo ❤

NGL I really love the vibe of the end of the video. Your last videos before this were kinda depressing. Felt like dead rising was a horse beaten to ground meat and the last bit of funds for it dried up and they were just gonna let it rot. Another one of my childhood games lost to time from mis handling creative directors and fat cats in suits.
But knowing you have TONS of more content to make plus this releasing all I have to say is,

Apart of Frank's new appearance, I also don't like the complete redesign of Larry the butcher psychopath. Looking more like a big and fat version of Carl the mailman psychopath from Dead Rising 2. I have a feeling that Capcom did this as a way of "censorship", because of a suppose racial stereotypes about Asia on the original design of Larry, but that is just my guess.

My only…concern, let’s say, is that they’ll tone down the sexual parts of the game. We can already see in screenshots that they’ve updated Cheryl’s dress to cover more of her body, and I have a suspicion they’ll remove the “erotica” category of photography. Does it affect me personally? Nope. Can I Google “Big Boob” and get a trillion results? Sure. But updating an older game with modern sensibilities always rubs me the wrong way, either leave all the features intact or just don’t bother remastering it!
Exactly and the censorship of Larry. Making Jo's cutscene survivor look ugly. Its worrying me there's a western breath smell on this game.

To your other point, I’m actually fine with Larry’s changes, while I’m sure they weren’t done sans ideological reasons, his original model was both a bit stereotypical and ill-fitting for the idea of being a supermarket butcher. His new look of the white butcher’s coat and Seon’s hat fits him better imo, but that’s just my personal preference!

I'm excited man, glad to see Capcom decided to revive this franchise
I'm still torn. On the one hand, I'm all for giving some new spit and polish to the models, sensible additions to the mechanics (praise the LAWD we can move and shoot!), and adding in the cut content, but Frankie...oh Frankie....I do not like this at all, and I'm a little miffed to get charged to get the original model (and hopefully voice tracks). So, still a wait and see, but gonna need a lot more extra beef to be worth it for me.
At least it's all easily moddable with the RE engine

@@Cruddy129It’s more likely capcom decided to cheap out again and get a complete different actor instead of the OG actor because the OG actor (TJ) joined a VA union, which Capcom doesn’t want to deal with, except when it comes to Street Fighter actors for some reason.

The biggest Red Flag for me is Franks new Voice amd hes VA sounding lile he just read a Script instead of getting into the act and rolenof Frank but if that part got fixed or improvet or turnt out not to be a problem i would be totally okay with everything about the game
funny because the zombies do not look better to me at all, and it appears they may have removed zombie dismemberment. you didn't even mention the removal of Larry Chiang, and other various things they've censored.
zombie dismemberment is still in, there's a screenshot of a zombie missing an arm. larry wasn't removed, they just made him less of a chinese caricature (no more yellow skin or very squinted eyes)
Not a fan of the change in some npcs ranging from minor (Cheryl) to major (Larry)
Also Steve from the Grocery Store looks and sounds worse than in the original, not the end of the world but a head scratcher. Making Frank look 20 years older with a wacky voice is strange too.
It’s weird how so far Jo and Adam (early game bosses) look and sound the same but Steve and Larry (mid to late game bosses) had revisions.

DR1's tiny but MASSIVE map changes and hopefully improved AI basically make DR1 a perfect game. Anything else they do will just be icing on the cake.
Removing the survivor limit and fast forwarding time fundamentally changes the game for me. The tight limits were the main challenge to get that perfect run.
Almost looks like a remake. This on the same level as crisis core remastered
Honestly, they could've just fixed the NPC AI, and I would've been more than happy with just that improvement. But the fact that Capcom went and did so much more than just that, makes this remaster seem that much more awesome and well worth the purchase.
Now that more information is coming out, are you still as enthusiastic about the remaster?

Well with the recent controversy, I'd feel remiss not to say that Sean Lacefield, the guy behind the end credits song "Justified" has claimed to have been stiffed by Capcom, alongside other artists who's content was allegedly stolen.
It's on his 2022 (New Instrumental) upload's comment section if anyone wants more context. Not exactly relevant, but if we're talking about lacking respect, Capcom has been exuding that for a while now in various little ways that've been adding up.
It's a mundane controversy tbh, but your opinion would have gone a long way towards swaying my impression of the game that I don't think anyone else has. It's likely an unspoken rule or just not much effort put into it on Capcom's side, but it's still rather ridiculous to think The Guy that comes to my mind when thinking of Dead Rising got stiffed. The actions I feel unwarranted, but the feeling of disrespect? Oh yeah, that's Capcom to everybody, there's no defense for Capcom the more you look into them unfortunately.

I just need a classic VA option and I'm sold. Still not impressed with the voice acting, it sounds like capcom really cheaped out on it or picked the worst takes to use for the trailer.
It's not gonna happen. As the game is fully voiced. Even the survivors' text boxes and Franks' responses. Unless they mute Frank that is.

Frank's VA sounds really bad. Everyone else seems okay but his lines we've heard so far are performed so theatrically/overacted compared to TJ's delivery that I can already tell it's going to ruin the cutscenes for me.

I started with Dead Rising 2 and this sort of remaster for that game would make me cream.

I kinda hope instead of a simple Infinity Mode, they make it a survival mode. We can save the game and continue later, but death is permanent and you start over like in the original. But this time you don't have to red ring your Xbox just to stop from losing progress or your score.
I kinda want a mix of both. Seven day survivor felt like a rite of passage
So basically, Sandbox mode from Off the Record? That's what I've been imagining in a DR1 remake for years. I wouldn't be mad if it replaced infinity mode.
Make it play like a roguelite and we're golden

That's the date the OG dead rising took place. September 19th 2006, which I think boasts well for the game
it looks great on it's own but for the most part it destroys so much of the original vibe.

Its a bit tricky these days. Nintendo never calls their remakes remakes even though following Shadow of the Colossus Remake rules (one of the first remakes) they all are.
But we also dont get low effort remasters anymore like in the PS4 days. Just a res/fps bump and thats it. So I guess marketing figures only visual overhauls (no matter if its a total new engine redo) its better to market it as a remaster. And then you have remakes that really make a new game out of the existing story and setting like RE4R and FF7R.
Having said that even the developers in the interview basically recognize this is probably a remake. And clearly it is based on previous remakes that have been released. Just the title is safely dubbed ‘deluxe remaster’ to set expectations. The framework of the game hasnt changed and neither has anything been expanded upon so thats why I guess. DR fans wont care ofc.

The cop zombies could indeed discharge their weapons. I remember it clearly from the original Xbox 360 version, it wasn’t removed.

Larry's design is worse, I'm sure people will decry him being a racist caricature of a Chinese butcher but he doesn't even look Asian in the new one and far less intimidating. And some of the lighting for the models is ugh, not that great, it's so radically inconsistent, sometimes it looks okay sometimes it looks jarring.
That being said, the environmental work looks good, but I'm concerned about the tone and licensed music being kept the same. Environments are the best part so far, they really need to fix the lighting for the full release.
That Capcom had an insert for that dog at the beginning shows me that they knew it was a terrible design, even all the way back in 2005. And I remember saying that to my friends when we first played DR back then, "that dog looks hideous."

Why would a company willingly give an early-access copy of a game to someone who has a history of digging into files, leaking past information, and acquiring unauthorized demos and beta builds to share? Developers genuinely hate that stuff, so why give someone that opportunity to exploit their game. This self-destruction is worse than the Ultimate Warrior.

I just thank God we're not getting another photorealistic face scanned game from Capcom.
The biggest complaint I have is the blood spilling not being as dynamic. For example the blood just pops in a lot of the time and you see blood effects fall through the floor quite a bit where in the original the blood will cause a stain decal wherever the splatter went. Also the decals seem really repetitive so far so hitting with face or a heavy blunt pretty much cause the same blood amount and stain type to spawn in instead of it being more dynamic.
I have no confidence in capcom making this a good remaster but maybe I’m just super jaded after battlefront and gta
I hope this puts us on a different timeline where 3 and 4 never came out and we can get proper sequels.
Now that would make things a lot more interesting. 3 wasn’t horrible they had the right idea but executed it very poorly along with a lot of unforgettable characters and boring setting. 4 wasn’t even real more like a fever dream. What exactly would be a proper sequel though? I’ve always seen lots of fans propose the idea of a prequel maybe in this case as the second installment. That would be a cool addition to the timeline and pay homage to the first game since that is what led to the events of the Willamette incident. Experience the downfall of SC and Carlitos pre-villian arc since you’d play as him from his perspective. The games have never taken place in a tropical setting so it would be a cool spin to it if they wanted to change up the game timeline moving forward. The city in dead rising 3 was just too massive and very unforgettable.
@@carlwinsloww2153 it just looked like a bland gritty horror/action game instead of a fun/campy horror game. I missed the bright colors. I still want a full theme park DR game, not just an area of the map as a theme park.
@@nickn271 I agree that’s what I meant by executed poorly in a broad sense. They had the hardware to make an insane dead rising game but they went down that AAA typical let down route, over hyped mediocre product. They went too over the top and that’s not to say that dead rising games aren’t over the top. They’ve always had that element like in 3 and 4 but without the boundaries. 1 and 2 had boundaries which was the perfect balance of over the top if that makes any sense. I feel like you lost all sense of desperation being a normal dude trying to fight for your life to survive a zombie outbreak like in 1 and 2. They forgot the main element that made those the gems of the entire franchise. An amusement park would be cool along with a prequel setting in SC. Could even pull off a huge exotic resort in a setting like that. I feel like with all deadrising settings they brought in the most interesting characters like in 1 and 2. You had a typical American super shopping mall and then Las Vegas. Both places usually have interesting settings within and have all sorts of people from all walks of life. You could do that with a city but they botched it with DR3 so they should try something else if they’re starting fresh on the drawing board with these DR remakes and a possible continuation of the franchise

Till then my opinion remains the same. 3 you could say was a good game but NOT a good deadrising game. It felt soulless along with the lack desperation of going through a zombie outbreak as a normal Joe Shmoe like its predecessors. The main protagonist, characters, and psychopaths in 3 were so forgettable that I don’t even remember any of their names not even one. It just didn’t hit the same bro
i just wish it had co-op support so friends could join the adventure! besides that its really good and i have dreamt of a DR1 Remake for over a decade and a half now! first played deadrising on the xbox 360 when it came out and it was from the start already one of my favourite games of all time! and still is to this day

Hmm, I hope I'm wrong, but the blood seems to have been significantly downgraded. In the original, when you hit a zombie with a bat, the blood trail in the air falls to the ground in a very satisfying way. In the footage shown above, it just disappears into thin air. I don't really care about the resolution of the textures, or things like that, if they are messing with the visuals that actually impact gameplay and feel, such as the blood.
Gonna hold off on praising this one, but I am definitely looking forward to seeing more.

welp, re3make was done by a frilance studio (with former capcom employees) and overall got rushed as fuck
this already looks like a good 10 hours+ game like original and with nice mechanic additions that adds to the gameplay, not removing whole segments like re3make did
@@haidudu6766the studio did great, it's just that capcom crunched them with a strict deadline and didn't let them realize their vision for the game.
It was ultimately due to Capcom's priorities where they were initially gonna outsource and rush the real of the remakes until that received a ton of backlash and they realized M2 wouldn't be a remake machine at the rate they were rushing them.

This looks great and I'm very excited, Dr 1 is an absolute gem and I'm glad it's getting the treatment it deserves. New actor is the only part that kinda bothers me but I can look past that if the rest is this good. Also the new resident evil actors were pretty great so I'm willing to give this guy a chance
