- Willamette town is the illusive element of Dead Rising that fans have wanted to visit for years. Despite this never being possible normally, that doesn't mean we can't find another way...

I love that we are all ignoring Deadrising 4. This is the REAL Willamette
They made a Dead Rising 4?
Nah that was just a spin off where we play as Hank East, Frank West's cousin.
@@STiP0 i ask the same thing a lot. im still fairly sure its not real. then im not sure if DR3 is real since nobody ever talked about it.
I liked the 4th game..course wasn't as good as the 1st but still
I believe dead rising 4 is a movie in the Dead rising universe
I remember being a little kid playing this for the first time and thinking "it seems like it would be alot easier to survive outside the mall"
Honestly, if it wasn't for zombie respawning I'm sure Frank, Brad and some random survivors could clean the entire mall very fast
@@NiCoNiCoNiCola Just give the competent ones a few shotguns and snipers, and you got Dawn of the Dead all over again.
“I can’t believe no one talks about this!!”
> A single unrendered rooftop fence in an inaccessible area that is visible for seconds in a game from over a decade ago
Lmao
Yeah and whats your point
@@skullthrower8904 it's a joke buddy
Honey? Are you alright? You've barely touched your megaman collection tortilla.
i love how passionate he is about this game
Same mate
The first game is a true work of art.
It's just game
@@ericglenn9984 nope.

Man, I miss the feeling of being excited for a new Dead Rising game. We, the fans deserve better than we what we got with Dead Rising 4.
Just imagine a Dead Rising Remake with the RE Engine.
Would be pretty sick but don't let the Canadians make it lol look at the 4th one lol terrible..
@@jacklancaster6927 As far as I know, their entire studio closed after Dead Rising 4 lol. And to be completely honest, I don't hate Dead Rising 4, at least not its gameplay. Everything else though, is really bad.
@@Dante-fb9ej true I reckon next E3 they will announce a remake, as they recently updated the copyright trademark thingy for capcom 😉
@@jacklancaster6927 True. I'm Canadian and I was very disappointed with the 4th games dev team.
@@jacklancaster6927 not really Vancouver capcom was good or decent at making 2 and3 it’s just that the team quit and got fired which replace a whole new team and messed up 4 so bad.
Don't know what it is, but this game just has a genuinely eerie and immersive atmosphere that the others do not. It's the only entry that gives me the same feeling I had seeing Resident Evil 2 way back. I still play DR1 here and there as a type of simulator.
I loved DR1 so much. It’s the best one in the series by far
The photorealistic textures, Frank’s attitude and the sheer number of possible weapons make it feel more immersive than the others. I felt like Frank was just an unlucky guy, whereas Chuck felt like some gruff, one liner spewing badass who was designed to kill zombies. Frank felt designed to find the truth, Chuck felt like he was designed as a more stereotypical zombie killer. But I love em both and that’s just my opinion on why I think DR1 is the most immersive in the series
I know exactly what you mean, and i feel the same way. The ambiance gives you a certain feeling that no matter where you are, you're not safe, and the eerie-ness is spot on.
for me the first two games (DR1 primarily) took themselves very seriously it was a true horror game at heart but unlike Resident Evil you could make cut scenes very joky with dumb outfits and kill zombies with whatever you found.
The comedy in the original game was very optional and I'd say it was the best approach it allowed players to focus on the story and atmosphere for their first playthrough and doing stupid stuff would be the draw in for a second with New Game +
with the 3rd and 4th game, they're simply not horror games they became comedy games parodying themselves
@@magapiff1 yeah, Frank was a good character because he always took the situation seriously. He knew what was at stake, and there was a real mystery that needed to be solved. The comedy comes from running around in a flashy white suit with a lego helmet and a burning hot pan and shoving it into a zombie’s face, and there was something really special about it
I wish we had got a "Tales from Willamette" DLC imagine replaying DR1 from a different survivors POV. Start in the town and try to get to the mall.
You just wander around with really bad path finding lol
Mega Man, Tacos and Tortillas? That sounds like the best store ever
5:54 IDK if it's even visible from the normal perspective but I definitely never noticed the Red Dead Revolver building before. Pretty interesting that reference made it into the final game despite Capcom pulling out from funding/publishing Red Dead Revolver in 2003.
I missed that completely
I would not mind a prequel about the town of Willamette, like it follows the beginning of the outbreak and shows the town erupt into chaos, and you play as some character (maybe Otis lol) trying to survive, and it ends with your character getting to the mall and helping secure it and then there's a post credits scene that starts where the first game begins with Frank west on Ed's chopper heading into town.
Someone ported the map into VR Chat and it's so fun to explore. The empty mall is creepy as.
Someone should make a Willamette campaign in Left 4 Dead 2. Art styles match up so perfectly...
I'm surprised over the years there hasn't been a campaign yet!
Man imagine if someone made a mod where the fixed the town and you could leave the mall and steal a car and there were survivors there and new quests that would be cool
not really possible to do that without the games source code.
That would kinda go against the whole idea of the game, the fact that your are trapped in this mall is what gives it charm
@@Blue-bf8lvvery true that's what made it special but why not expand it
@@the_criminal_mastermind would be interesting if it was a case of being stuck in the mall for 50% of it, then the rest being outside
@@Blue-bf8lv well that was supposed to be DR4 except .0000000003% was in the mall and the rest was outside 💀💀💀.
It’s kinda insane how good some of the close ups look
this video really shows one of the things I love about dead rising, No little detail was too unneeded, the amount of time they even put into a town u would only see about 5 minutes of and there was still thought and care put into it, if it was a store u never went into or the main security room, every aspect of the map felt like the same amount of love and care went into it, regardless if u would ever even step into a room by ur 5th playthrough
Still better than any Modern games out there! One of the best zombie's games I've played! I would love to see a remake in its original way
Absolutely brother
@RogueTheDoctor The graphics of Dead Rising 1 make it more special imo
@@Shadow-yq5vp agreed
Really? Dead Rising is better than EVERY modern game there is?
@@JasonPikachu most modern games are rushed cash in on fans or make some B's dlc pack for 40 bucks
Willamette has always fascinated me so this video should be very interesting to watch.
I'm a simple man, I see a STIPO upload and my day is instantly better
Yup
Same as me!! Love this dude!!
Peter Flemming: you better make those dead rising 2 videos, or you're gonna need more than zombrex
Stipo: *makes one dead rising 2 video then immediately makes another dead rising 1 video*
Chuck: YOU NUTBAR!
18 years Willamette Parkview Mall opened to public and 15 years since the outbreak on Willamette occured
2:27 the most cursed thing ive ever seen in my life
i’ve wanted to explore the whole town since i was a kid. i have faith that one day this game will be remade and expanded upon
RIP this wish
Even though the background details are low poly, it’s nice they’re still there and makes the world feel alive or more like people lived there and the zombies attacked and turned then population into zombies.
I find it awesome that you can actually show the silly childhood fantasies of what the other non playable areas were. Just had to wait 15 years, but it was well worth.
Dead Rising ever gets a reboot, it should be at Capcom japan, they've got the same level of polish as nintendo. And their resident evil team in particular are not only top notch in doing zombies with the games in recent years (8, 3R, 2R, 7), but a sense of humor and personality throughout: the baker family, mother miranda's family, tofu mode, and jack's gator punching brother DLC.
Dead Rising is the american zombie drama with bits of comedy through the japanese lens - hence why 2-4 didn't mesh well with me. A return to capcom maybe a return to form.

Would be cool if we get some side missions content that takes us into the town in the new remake.
I remember as a ps2 owner the first time I saw xbox 360 games it blew my mind more than cali kush did in 2005
There is something about this game that just inspires something inside of me. I know how weird this sounds. It makes me so happy for some reason. This huge mall and the American 90’s or early 2000’s town atmosphere, the characters (besides the psychopaths) are so memorable and likable.
A remaster of this game would be incredible.
man this game was my entire childhood, and i still play it to this day. just wish they would make it how they used to. when they took out/changed the dynamic of psychos and survivors in DR3 & 4 it really rubbed me the wrong way...wasn’t the same.
3:53 Wait that's legitimately just the Chevrolet logo but just mirrored half way through. That's amazing lol
STiP0 is the best friend, always surprising us as we live on with life we go back to the things we used to dream never to be forgotten but always explored by the great one stipo as to the lazy ones us wonder and gaze into its view .. deadrising .. and stipo as frank west reporting from Willamette once again 2021 frank is still alive
I hope we get another look at the town with the deluxe remaster! Love your content STiPO!!!
The camera work in the intro is fantastic.
Love this channel. One of my favorite game franchises. Glad someone has a dedicated channel about it
The art design of this game was something very nice and holds up after so long.
It's like a simplified saturated high contrast realism
Nice way to describe it I agree man
I remember being in school and someone told me that you could escape the mall by driving through a door in the parking garage.
"We're actually in Boston, or maybe even in Detroit- since there are signs pointing to the sound of "Sudden Gunfire!""
Lmfao
Ay the lad finally got another awesome vid up! Awesome stuff stip man.
It's about time you made this video, this is exciting!
I absolutely love the Textures and lighting of the original Dead Rising game.
The intro music from 0:01-1:58 is called Select Start Orignal Mix by Fantom 87.
I love exploring and seeing game environments so I got a kick out of watching this video. What a treat. Thank you for sharing this.
Camera debug mode seems like a fun little series. Just walking around the mall taking photos.
The sign at 6:37 is a real sign in the uk it stands outside the Army firing range Lulworth Dorset. It even appears on an episode of top gear.
I still remember the day DR1 came out and the excitement I had to get home and play it. I feel like everyone they released after just felt lackluster.
Like most games these days...call me a sucker for nostalgia, but this game STILL is a gem, and holds up soooo well!
My day was already going good and now you've made it even better
Love you going into detail like this.
Thank you for making my day, Stipo. Always a pleasure to see you upload.
Questions I have so far
1. What's in Frank's camera case.
2. Are the photos in the window of the letting agents real places/Easter eggs
3. Is there anything inside the roof access by the broken culling fence
(written as I'm watching so might be answered late in the video)
Babe wake up, new STiP0 video dropped
It a shame we never got a chance to really explore the town. It clear there was a whole story that happened to Willamette first and how anyone got to the Mall in the first place and before the undead got let in.
Unlikely as it is, I hope the Deluxe Remaster adds a little more details to the original Willamette and the time between the first zombies and Frank's arrival.
If dead rising was made with a full scale open world aspect as well as enterable buildings with quests.. how I wish 💯🔥
The 360 era is still my favorite in gaming. 2006 I had CoD 2 and Ghost Recon for the US Army shooter kick, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and Dead Rising. Awesome beginning to a memorable generation.
Same loved playing metal gear solid 2, cod 1 and demon souls back in the day before the world turned bad
Just found your channel and it made me buy DR again! Good stuff man
Despite being a 17 years old game, DR1 always make me feel like it's the first time experiencing it. It's that good.
love these vids homie!
4:00 That's a premium 1993 Cheveevehc D-69 right there.
Great job as always Stipo
Still playing dead rising, I've said this before but this channel along with the games is something my nieces and children will get to enjoy. (when I wrote this i wasn't an uncle, now my niece always wants to play "the zombie game")
Great video, thanks for sharing on reddit
Anyone ever noticed those two survivor character models one was holding a bat getting beat up by zombies, that’s the same survivor character of the dude “Rich” who you save after the boss fight cliff and that chick on the rooftop holding a pistol was the same character model survivor “Michelle” who you rescue after that boss fight “Sean” at the movie theater.
Man now we have to wait another month for more fantastic content. It's always worth the wait though
I always love seeing your uploads
I love how at 5:55 the store sign says Red Dead Revolver! Never thought Capcom would make a reference to it in one of their own games, especially in this fashion! Aside from that, keep up the good work STiP0!
this is the video i needed fucking thank you ive always been interested of whats outside the mall it looks like a nice town
I was looking for a video like this, where we could explore the town. Thanks.
2:44 oh the bus yeah there was kids in there to make it worse off when Frank gets to the shopping mall the zombies, smash the window and climb and start eating the kids alive and they die in a slow, painful death
rooftop at 5:00 i believe thats for the ending when you haven't stayed in Carlito's hideout and be at helipad as we see Ed get his face eaten by a zombie
"when you're dead.. you're dead"
I wish DR & DR2 would get remade with graphics and everything up to date, as well as the whole town of Willamette able to be in free roam either as an extra or included in the main game.
Wish in one hand and 💩 in the other I guess lol
I always wanted to do this so thanks!
WOO! New STiP0 content!
A cool idea would be a dead rising game set in Seattle
i been waiting for this!
Reminds me of the video where people exit the house in PT. This was amazing. I had forgotten the chopper ride to the mall entirely.
This was always amazing even though seeing it now, for myself only having a PlayStation 2 and in 2006 when this was released I got the witness it for myself and it was like night and day, it was truly amazing even this cutscene
5:55 Wait, that building is named "Red Dead Revolver"
That's honestly a pretty cool detail, especially considering that Red Dead Revolver is an extremely obscure game, and Capcom still gave it a small shout out.
This was so cool to watch.
Sad there won't be a DR5 (anytime soon at least), but after DR4 (and DR3 to an extent...) it's probably for the best. :(
DR1 FTW!
You just earned a new sub!
hell yeah stipo upload
NICE VIDEO MAN

Your fucking incredible man, good work seriously
The buildings without backs might just not have backs. Not like culling, but as in there are no polygons there at all, they modelled a cube and removed the back face as opposed to hid it.
My day just got better
Yeah baby
I hope one day this is incorporated into the main game so we can finally interact with another authentic aspect of the original game. I love the fine details and makes me appreciate this game even more.
Hell yeah. I'll watch every video on Willamette noclip exploration any time one is made.
This is gonna look great in the Remaster.
BRO THIS IS LEGT SICKO MODE
3:55 they modeled one side and mirrored it for the other, common thing, i do it all the time on my stuff lol
Very cool to see, I'm pretty obsessed with old texture design myself and DR is filled to the brim with it. Speaking of, had a couple questions for you:
1. Since we now have the sources for most if not all of the original survivor and probably zombie textures do we know what source they used for the world textures because Turtle Rock Studios (Left 4 Dead) and Troika Games (Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines) used the same world textures and it would be cool to know where all 3 got them. (Funny enough Left 4 Dead used the same zombie textures as well.)
2. How developed are the tools, I know here you mentioned custom geometry was a distant future but how close are we to making Dead Rising "ROM" hacks if you will with custom levels and such?
this just made me want to return to one of the best zombie game franchises of all time here
_I've covered devkits you know_
Oh shit new upload! Sorry forgot you posted a few weeks ago
i remember being a kid and wondering if there was just a bunch of children just trapped in there
These videos shall never end
Bruh I thought you died, missed you and your content ❤
Dude you make me Dream of a dead rising 5
Dead rising 3 was very good but I wish more in the spirit of the 1 of course
I alway wanted to explore willamet thanks for this video buddy
I wonder where those store textures are originally from. It's fun to think about Capcom employees walking around taking pictures of random stores in a random city.
Probably. When they developed RE2, they used the European styled buildings of Japan and when they started developing Re4, they traveled to Spain, in order to take pictures of castles.
