The only complaint that I have about the remake is the fact that a lot of the voice actors are not coming back. Terence J. Rotolo became the first and only actor to start saving my life at 15 years old (when the first Dead Rising came came out a couple of weeks before my 16th birthday). Dead Rising came out during a time where I was going through a lot of difficult times in my life, and Terence Rotolo saved me from all of those terrible times just by portraying Frank West (who is one of my favorite characters). Terence Rotolo will always be my favorite actor because of how he helped/still helps me through my life just by his incredible work as an actor. From what I've heard, the Dead Rising community will most likely work on a mod for Frank West to replace the new voice with Terence's voice. But, I'm extremely excited about the remake. It will remind me of the first time I played the original game. I would love to meet Terence Rotolo someday

YES! Dead Rising 1's hud actually made sense, and was in-character for Frank West. The UI changes in Dead Rising 2 were my least favorite part.
It's important to note that the blurred text at the bottom of the screen would at times refer to the current build not being final, which means that almost anything is subject to change.

I like that you actually call out the censorship what it is: Censorship. Erotica is also gone as a photograph "theme" because "muh modern audiences" I'll just stick with the eighth gen remaster, I personally can't get behind these changes and the voice cast is too iconic for me to ignore. Even though I'm sure the new VAs will do a great job.

@Ghillie_Beast_yt The first trailer didn't do that new voice actor any justice. Now that more lines have come out he seems fine I want to give him a chance but they should've brought Rotolo back for the role. At least have the option to switch between the og or new voice.
One thing I don't like is Frank's redesign. I know I am in the minority on this but I just don't like it. To me it seems to reflect upon the new voice actor instead of the original, which is ok, but this one kind of make Frank look older like he's in his 40's, when it was stated Frank is in his 30's in this game. Another thing I don't like is that apparently the rumor is that the original Frank model will be available, and was updated, yet is going to be locked behind a pre order. I mean, shouldn't that already be apart of the game? What if you can't get the money to pre order or if you want to wait for reviews? Will it be locked behind a paywall?

wow, I literally just finished a playthrough of this game yesterday.
This game terrified me when it was released (I was 8 in 2006), and I never achieved the S ending. I finally did, and now it's getting a deluxe remaster?? That's awesome news. I am so pumped to hear this, especially since I'm not scared to play anymore, lol
I really hope they add in more options to spare psychos like they originally wanted, it'd be nice to save people other than the arsonist kid or Cletus in Chop til' you drop.
They better not nerf the small chain saw. Also I think the fast forward feature kind of ruins it.

Theory time:
While it’s nice that they have a time fast forward option via a watch. I kinda wish there are more time related options to include later.
Perhaps one option is to “freeze time” for a completionism play though. Allowing Frank to complete any missing collectible or survivor missed in the play-through. Connecting Dead Rising 1 remake options with the Dead Rising 4 mechanics that removed its time limit. However, that way, time would be made as an option for players.

I honestly really appreciate them keeping Franks jerky animations, the game feel is what makes this franchise unique and I love to see them respect it. They couldve easily redone them with all the work that has been put.

The lack of the News UI is also unfortunate.
The only problem I have is how Frank looks, His hair is going grey and his face is that of a man in his mid-late 40's. In the original game I think he's about 36, probably the perfect age for his character, old enough to have experience in the journalist field but still young enough to put in all the legwork we see him doing in the game. It just opens the door for confusion on what his age is supposed to be.
Is he still supposed to be 36 in the remake? Then why does he look so old?
Is he actually, like, 48? Then how does he run around the mall doing wrestling moves all day and fighting zombies?

Plenty of times that bad translation has caused way too much confusion, biggest example I know of off the top of my head is when people said that the producers for yakuza said that kiryu has never killed anyone and was a virgin, turned out they said that he had never killed anyone outside of self defense and kiryu is not a virgin, was just a translation blunder

The survivor AI from original was what made the game challenging. Take that away and there will be no challenge. Today gamers need a ramp to cross over everything like if disabled lol
There's a difference between real and fake challenge. I would understand if there was an interview somewhere where the original devs explicitly state the survivor AI for the OG game was working perfectly as intended.
If the original devs didn't intend for the AI to be so infamously stupid but that's how they came out anyway due to either programming limitations or low dev priority, then keeping the AI stupid in the remake is simply fake difficulty that should hold no real value to anyone except for masochists.

There are zombies everywhere, imagine that actually happen in the real, all the mentally frozen people crying in the corner. To me the game was not frustrating, i saved everyone. If in the remake they move behind you like a choo choo train then i cant imagine much of a challenge. I understand why some found the original frustrating, over 90% of gamers suck at all games. The other complaint was the save system, which i never had any problem with. Today most gamers need checkpoint save every area they go into. XD
I think they even recasted Steven, which I’m gonna be sad to not hear his calm angelic voice yelling in my ear about his store and sometimes about vandalism.

Im mostly worried about the atmosphere and feel of the game, the first dead rising, for me atleast, was really creepy in places, and could be very tense at times, the mystery of what the hell happened in willamette was genuinely interesting. The new graphics and lighting look very pretty, but the mall feels less scary for it, the mall felt cold, dead and abandoned in the original, which really worked for the whole zombie thing, this one looks too bright and warm, atleast at day time anyways. The original game was really campy and goofy in places, but it took itself seriously, which made it more believable, i just hope this remaster isnt all just action and wackyness, and maintains the feelings of tension, creepyness and mystery the first one had.

The Voice actor the way you save the game and the timer and the hud should not of been changed and being able to skip time is a brain rot addition
Mate there are several points in the game where there is fuckall to do, time skip is good for that. Also it’s good so speedrunning doesn’t rely on mods anymore

Two there are cases in which you don’t have much to do and consoles will usually turn off after inactivity so you can’t just stop what you’re doing. Timeskip is a convenience but if you like unnecessary waiting, go ahead

And these are just the changes we saw. Do they change Kent's scoop in getting 1000pp worth erotic shot? Do they change the outfits of the girls being held captive by Jo the cop? Do they remove the scoop where yoy take pictures of Cheryl? Don't know but most likely the case. Yes censorship kills. It kills the original vision, it kills the charm. Maybe I'm wrong and this is the best version of dead rising but I'm not holding out hope.

The developers have said there is so many additions that it can be considered a remake, and so that’s why I keep calling it one.
It’s like the Demon Souls or Shadow of the Colossus remakes, except Dead Rising is actually getting more content (even if it’s just mainly small additions)
I mean remakes and remasters have cut and dry meanings. Remasters reuses the code of the original and builds on it, while a remake ditches the source code and rebuilds the game from the ground up. This game getting called both is confusing.
I'm really curious what they'll do with the convicts, like theme music, and if they'll just keep respawning. 🤔

The censorship is funny, considering Dead Rising 2, one of the GORIEST games I've ever played, is still relatively playable even today. Dead Rising 1 needed a major overhaul for AI, but otherwise, the QoL changes are bonuses on top of it.

A couple things I noticed as a Deadrising Super Fan who basically binged and obsessed on every game until the 3rd entry:
- It's not NEW that props can block certain attacks but it was far from consistent in the original, most notably used during the gun store boss fight but also coming into play if you go really far during the Adam fight or the sniper fight as random props could pop his balloons and block sniper bullets if you got real good at the art of carry - place. The new part is they just do that now without requiring you to constantly pick up and place which was never worth it most times.
- You the nigh guaranteed cutscene changes to Jo and maybe one related to the pyromaniac due to the sexual violence.
- Changing Larry to not use be a straight up racist depiction of a fat Chinese guy was honestly a good move given that some of the best psychopaths are in the first game and are because they feel real adjacent like Adam and the Vietnam vet.
- Move inputs will likely be infinitely better than 2 and may be customizable given how Capcom has embraced more simple controls for their games in recent years.
- Completely expecting a hardcore mode, either as a DLC or a extra unlockable like the sandbox survival mode.
- Also expecting boss and enemy changes due to how you can now move and shoot which was very much accounted for in DR1 vs not at all in DR3. In 1 guns were situational but extremely powerful, so they might end up shortening animations telling you to shoot the guy ala Adam's balloons and shopkeeps whiskey.
Honestly I'm extremely excited. It's not said but I'm also just going to assume there will be a new costume locker so you can save your favorite looks and easily access the DLC suits unlike in the original where you just kinda had to guess.

I just hope for 2 things.
1.) Change the imput for that f###### dodge roll..... everyone had issues tapping up twice on accident and rolling right into zombies.
2.) An unlockable mode or setting to remove the countdown time limit. (Would be a great completion bonus)

In the original dead rising 1 the zombies shot at you but it happened rarely, however in dead rising 3 it happened often so in this new version they do it the same as in 3

IMO I think zombie cops shooting is kind of goofy. I think it’s be better if they shoot their gun if they fell or tripped instead of just shooting constantly.
