The only complaint that I have about the remake is the fact that a lot of the voice actors are not coming back. Terence J. Rotolo became the first and only actor to start saving my life at 15 years old (when the first Dead Rising came came out a couple of weeks before my 16th birthday). Dead Rising came out during a time where I was going through a lot of difficult times in my life, and Terence Rotolo saved me from all of those terrible times just by portraying Frank West (who is one of my favorite characters). Terence Rotolo will always be my favorite actor because of how he helped/still helps me through my life just by his incredible work as an actor. From what I've heard, the Dead Rising community will most likely work on a mod for Frank West to replace the new voice with Terence's voice. But, I'm extremely excited about the remake. It will remind me of the first time I played the original game. I would love to meet Terence Rotolo someday

One thing I don't like is Frank's redesign. I know I am in the minority on this but I just don't like it. To me it seems to reflect upon the new voice actor instead of the original, which is ok, but this one kind of make Frank look older like he's in his 40's, when it was stated Frank is in his 30's in this game. Another thing I don't like is that apparently the rumor is that the original Frank model will be available, and was updated, yet is going to be locked behind a pre order. I mean, shouldn't that already be apart of the game? What if you can't get the money to pre order or if you want to wait for reviews? Will it be locked behind a paywall?
People are talking about how much easier the game is, from someone who just completed it (all achievements too) and plays the original, i can safely say the original was never hard, it just crashed a ton so achievements were harder to obtain, though I wish they'd bring back complete amputation again, i miss cutting zombies in half.
wow, I literally just finished a playthrough of this game yesterday. This game terrified me when it was released (I was 8 in 2006), and I never achieved the S ending. I finally did, and now it's getting a deluxe remaster?? That's awesome news. I am so pumped to hear this, especially since I'm not scared to play anymore, lol
Im mostly worried about the atmosphere and feel of the game, the first dead rising, for me atleast, was really creepy in places, and could be very tense at times, the mystery of what the hell happened in willamette was genuinely interesting. The new graphics and lighting look very pretty, but the mall feels less scary for it, the mall felt cold, dead and abandoned in the original, which really worked for the whole zombie thing, this one looks too bright and warm, atleast at day time anyways. The original game was really campy and goofy in places, but it took itself seriously, which made it more believable, i just hope this remaster isnt all just action and wackyness, and maintains the feelings of tension, creepyness and mystery the first one had.
I really want to wait for the game to release before trashing it constantly, but I guess content creators gotta do that before it even gets up for sale

Theory time: While it’s nice that they have a time fast forward option via a watch. I kinda wish there are more time related options to include later. Perhaps one option is to “freeze time” for a completionism play though. Allowing Frank to complete any missing collectible or survivor missed in the play-through. Connecting Dead Rising 1 remake options with the Dead Rising 4 mechanics that removed its time limit. However, that way, time would be made as an option for players. Options stemming between Dead Rising. Just in case you missed anything in a playthough. Just theories. Thanks to anyone who reads this.
I softlocked myself in my original game because Brad lost so much health on the way to the professor that he can't make it, and he won't accept healing items. I wonder if you'll be able to heal him in DRDR.
I honestly really appreciate them keeping Franks jerky animations, the game feel is what makes this franchise unique and I love to see them respect it. They couldve easily redone them with all the work that has been put.
for your concern on the censoring of psychopaht its cuz the word psychopath doesn't hold up anymore since the word SOCIOPATH describes alot of the reasons the psychos in dead rising would snap a psycho is just an unfeeling monster while sociopaths are more MADE (no pure proof since both can technicly be made but more research into sociopathy then psychopathy for this specific thing)
The survivor AI from original was what made the game challenging. Take that away and there will be no challenge. Today gamers need a ramp to cross over everything like if disabled lol
There's a difference between real and fake challenge. I would understand if there was an interview somewhere where the original devs explicitly state the survivor AI for the OG game was working perfectly as intended. If the original devs didn't intend for the AI to be so infamously stupid but that's how they came out anyway due to either programming limitations or low dev priority, then keeping the AI stupid in the remake is simply fake difficulty that should hold no real value to anyone except for masochists.

I can understand the debate about auto save. I'm not even sure how I feel about it myself. In a game like this that is so deadline dependant it could be very easy to accidentally wreck a run because you get auto saved into an impossible position. I think making a couple manual backup saves is a must here, and I am really glad we have save slots now.
I call this the Durr Durr(DRDR) version. Not liking the censorship already on display here. To be honest I still feel the original release holds up just fine. I might pick this up if it drops to $15 bucks or something.
I hate that the in game music cuts off completely on the pause menu. That was something that I adored in the original that none of the sequels had either. But at least they played some kind of music on the pause menu. All the music being cut off and replaced with absolute silence has made me dread every time I have to go on the pause menu. An option needs to be patched in to fix this ASAP

I found rocket launcher in military soldiers during day 3 and you really had to kill the army and they drop their rocket launcher and only has 3 ammo left and you can actually use machine gun to shoot the military helicopter, I was playing in my Xbox series X all day with snacks and beer
The only thing that disappointed me was they didn't bring back the original licensed boss music, other than that it's good to see more Dead Rising content.

The censorship is funny, considering Dead Rising 2, one of the GORIEST games I've ever played, is still relatively playable even today. Dead Rising 1 needed a major overhaul for AI, but otherwise, the QoL changes are bonuses on top of it.
I enjoy the fact that I can play the game casually but I think the fact that the game autosaves and that it's easier to level but overall a 10/10 in my book
I personally believe the Reason why Psychopath is mostly getting changed is because it doesn't fit with many bosses. From what i know psychopath are more sane and act like normal people but a couple of them seen on the game are complete lunatic or lost their sanity during the Zombie infection for example Kent and Larry. Honestly it doesn't even bother the change's that could ruin my fan and all i want is a fun remake like the original with less bugs.
To elaborate, Psychopath isn’t being changed (at least in this game)… it was being considered so it’ll more likely mean Dead Rising 5 (if it ever releases) won’t have the term Psychopath like the 4th game
The only problem I have is how Frank looks, His hair is going grey and his face is that of a man in his mid-late 40's. In the original game I think he's about 36, probably the perfect age for his character, old enough to have experience in the journalist field but still young enough to put in all the legwork we see him doing in the game. It just opens the door for confusion on what his age is supposed to be. Is he still supposed to be 36 in the remake? Then why does he look so old? Is he actually, like, 48? Then how does he run around the mall doing wrestling moves all day and fighting zombies? it just seems like a confusing thing to get so wrong, does nobody at Capcom know what a guy in his mid 30's looks like?
I just hope for 2 things. 1.) Change the imput for that f###### dodge roll..... everyone had issues tapping up twice on accident and rolling right into zombies. 2.) An unlockable mode or setting to remove the countdown time limit. (Would be a great completion bonus)

Hopefully they eventually say what happened to the characters from the end of DR3... There's absolutely zero explanation in DR4. Did Isabela just get away with what she did? Did Chuck's daughter get cured? Etc.

I honestly really appreciate them keeping Franks jerky animations, the game feel is what makes this franchise unique and I love to see them respect it. They couldve easily redone them with all the work that has been put.

for your concern on the censoring of psychopaht its cuz the word psychopath doesn't hold up anymore since the word SOCIOPATH describes alot of the reasons the psychos in dead rising would snap a psycho is just an unfeeling monster while sociopaths are more MADE (no pure proof since both can technicly be made but more research into sociopathy then psychopathy for this specific thing)

The survivor AI from original was what made the game challenging. Take that away and there will be no challenge. Today gamers need a ramp to cross over everything like if disabled lol
There's a difference between real and fake challenge. I would understand if there was an interview somewhere where the original devs explicitly state the survivor AI for the OG game was working perfectly as intended.
If the original devs didn't intend for the AI to be so infamously stupid but that's how they came out anyway due to either programming limitations or low dev priority, then keeping the AI stupid in the remake is simply fake difficulty that should hold no real value to anyone except for masochists.

Plenty of times that bad translation has caused way too much confusion, biggest example I know of off the top of my head is when people said that the producers for yakuza said that kiryu has never killed anyone and was a virgin, turned out they said that he had never killed anyone outside of self defense and kiryu is not a virgin, was just a translation blunder

And these are just the changes we saw. Do they change Kent's scoop in getting 1000pp worth erotic shot? Do they change the outfits of the girls being held captive by Jo the cop? Do they remove the scoop where yoy take pictures of Cheryl? Don't know but most likely the case. Yes censorship kills. It kills the original vision, it kills the charm. Maybe I'm wrong and this is the best version of dead rising but I'm not holding out hope.

I can understand the debate about auto save. I'm not even sure how I feel about it myself. In a game like this that is so deadline dependant it could be very easy to accidentally wreck a run because you get auto saved into an impossible position. I think making a couple manual backup saves is a must here, and I am really glad we have save slots now.
I call this the Durr Durr(DRDR) version. Not liking the censorship already on display here. To be honest I still feel the original release holds up just fine. I might pick this up if it drops to $15 bucks or something.

I hate that the in game music cuts off completely on the pause menu. That was something that I adored in the original that none of the sequels had either. But at least they played some kind of music on the pause menu. All the music being cut off and replaced with absolute silence has made me dread every time I have to go on the pause menu. An option needs to be patched in to fix this ASAP

The censorship is funny, considering Dead Rising 2, one of the GORIEST games I've ever played, is still relatively playable even today. Dead Rising 1 needed a major overhaul for AI, but otherwise, the QoL changes are bonuses on top of it.

I have not noticed anything different from the zombies no matter what costume I wear.
I enjoy the fact that I can play the game casually but I think the fact that the game autosaves and that it's easier to level but overall a 10/10 in my book
I personally believe the Reason why Psychopath is mostly getting changed is because it doesn't fit with many bosses.
From what i know psychopath are more sane and act like normal people but a couple of them seen on the game are complete lunatic or lost their sanity during the Zombie infection for example Kent and Larry.
Honestly it doesn't even bother the change's that could ruin my fan and all i want is a fun remake like the original with less bugs.
To elaborate, Psychopath isn’t being changed (at least in this game)… it was being considered so it’ll more likely mean Dead Rising 5 (if it ever releases) won’t have the term Psychopath like the 4th game

The only problem I have is how Frank looks, His hair is going grey and his face is that of a man in his mid-late 40's. In the original game I think he's about 36, probably the perfect age for his character, old enough to have experience in the journalist field but still young enough to put in all the legwork we see him doing in the game. It just opens the door for confusion on what his age is supposed to be.
Is he still supposed to be 36 in the remake? Then why does he look so old?
Is he actually, like, 48? Then how does he run around the mall doing wrestling moves all day and fighting zombies?
