Hey guys, just a few updates: #1) Thanks for 100k views! It means a lot to me! I guess the remake brought a lot of people here lol #2) I made a mistake in the final list. Lilly should not be in A Tier. I have no idea how that mistake happened lol. #3) The graphic at 29:46 acts a bit weird. #4) As I’ve come to realize you can get Saint while going for the main story. You just have to finish Overtime Mode so Frank and Isabela count. #5) Some information I forgot to add or just got incorrect. Burt/Aaron and Shinji/Yu are also tethered survivors. Mindy and Debbie can be saved without defeating Paul, and the zombie larvae will attack you at night if you use a queen (as a comment below noted, this is very annoying with the theater group and Kindell) #6) Ngl with some good arguments I’d probably sway my ranking on Kindell as ig some of my problems with him would be negated if you don’t follow the story. Also, you can get a free shotgun from him. Gordon may also be F tier after some consideration.
True. I don’t know if Ross’s tendencies came from the situation about his injury: Jo (if she was to injure him), the zombies, or a combination of the two. Either way, from the gameplay-side I guess it could also show how desperate the survivors are.
When I was around 9 years old playing this for the first time, I got to Ross and Tanya’s mission and after he asked for the gun I checked my inventory and handed him it thinking I got lucky I already had one…..things went really downhill after that.
@@GreenEyedDazzlerI still haven’t 😂 furthest I got to was the part where Jesse turns I think and just kept running out of time and restarting levelling up I hated the missions but LOVED the gameplay and setting
I tried getting that far when I was at around that age, maybe younger. But my xbox360 disc was scratched, which caused my game to crash whenever I got to a certain part of the game. I think it was bomb run
@@GreenEyedDazzler Dead Rising isn't that hard. it's more annoying though I love it! I recall far too many insanely hard and janky games in the NES/Sega era. Which were near impossible for even good gamers. It was pretty much who are these god-tier playtesters who said no problem here!? Games like Super Ghouls and Ghost, Mega Man 1, Ninja Gaiden, and Castlevania 1. Few off the top of my head that I never finished. The original Zelda and Metroid were pretty damn hard to find things and get to new locations. I did beat Punch Out when I was 9 though.
@@slumpsharkone thing the remaster misses by buffing their AI is those tense moments of “are these fuckers gonna survive or are they gonna get stuck in a horde of zombies and yell FRANK until they die.” The original is almost rogue lite in that aspect of never knowing what’s gonna happen when escorting your group
@EraVulgarity Nah you need to play the remaster before you talk about it. The theater survivors are still the worst. Ray in particular loves to get in a loop of weakly pushing zombies instead of moving forward. Even during that short trip he will almost die several times and require you to kill basically every zombie. Dumbass will even go out of his way to push zombies that he doesn't need to push.
@@mjc0961 I bought it the day it came out homie lol I mean yeah the theater survivors are still ABLE to get swamped bc it’s day 2 and there’s a ton of zombies that spawn in paradise at that particular time. But comparing their survival instincts to the original it’s still night and day. Even if it were true in this one instance that’s still cherry picking bc the rest of the groups of survivors have a near 0% chance of getting swarmed unless you leave them behind in another room. But yeah all that said, if anyone WERE to get chomped by zombies without specifically escorting them through the safest route/ clearing every single zombie in their path then yeah the theater survivors are the most likely to get got. But like I said, compared to the original AI they are like 120% smarter. Maybe because I had the book that makes them more aggressive that did help the circumstances a little bit but even then, it’s not like that book helped much in the original anyways. So… just gonna have to disagree. And I have absolutely played the remaster lol I platinumed the game in like 3 days bc I binged the shit out of it and in my 3 back to back playthroughs I never struggled to save any of them.
i decided to pick up the game again today and that was the exact spot where I was, i tried getting both of them but I was preoccupied saving Isabella and he unfortunately died 😢
Nah he's useless like all survivors. The Path Finding AI is utterly atrocious, and survivors will randomly run out into group of zombies for no reason.
You can actually get the hand holding, carry survivors weapons. If you go to give them an health item and switch to a weapon at the moment of you pressing B is give you'll give them a weapon. I usually arm Susan with a submachine gun.
the ai was originally supposed to be more complex for survivors. like how sometimes they randomly crawl on the floor in the retail release. the way leah grabs onto frank in the jewelry store, was also remnants of old survivor ai. there are videos about it here on yt, pretty interesting stuff. i think people mistake the survivor ai being programmed to "be scared" of crowds of zombies and sometimes panicking as bad programming. yet once you pick up the survivor magazine which "makes survivors fearless" they have no problem running wherever you tell them too without hesitation. i rarely give survivors weapons in any dead rising game, but whatever kendalls ai is programmed at, he is pretty efficient with a shotgun, same with the ppl in the gun shop. set them on a waypoint and zombies really can't get close to them for the most part.
I was just playing earlier and these people would not go through an area because a potted plant was in one specific spot they had a runway to get through it’s still not the best lol
@@HoddieNinja2231 the spot outside the camera store, next to the maintenance room in paradise? yea theres no defending that lol thats consistently the only spot survivors get stuck for me.
Dunno if the AI is intentionally bad or the devs had no clue, it’s a chore baby sitting these guys while having to manage your own health, getting grabbed every 10 seconds too
They were terrible in DR1 even if the devs had no clue. DR2 had slightly more competent survivors who could be told to stay in one spot and actually served a use in some boss fights (E.G. arm a group with sniper rifles and shotguns and park them on a higher spot, then lead a boss like Leon Bell [dude on the chainsaw bike] nearby, they will melt his health down to nothing while slaughtering all zombies within range as well.) DR3 made it where you don't need to take survivors to a safe room, but there are some escort missions yet they are not as terrible as previous games.
@@KaimariificationI'd say Dead Rising 2's are far greater than just a slight upgrade personally. They went from insufferable to baseline competency. Every time I play two sessions of the games back to back it's night and day.
survivor AI is probably as bad as it is because it most likely wasn't a main focus during development, a big part of Dead Rising's existence was to show off how meany entities the Xbox 360 could handle at once. I remember reading someones justification on why you can see the AI being bad making the game more fun immersive was you can see the bad AI as what panic and confusion could make someone act like in a pop up zombie apocalypse. some can keep their composure and think straight, while some cling to any safety they can find, but some would just decide they'd rather go down swinging or flat out give up
I fell for the Ross request my first time. Legit didn't expect that he'd kill himself, and I wanted him to have the highest chance of survival. I didn't notice that you could keep talking to him and I rushed to grab a gun because I remembered exactly where they were in Wonderland. Sat there for a while thinking about him for a bit, getting quite a lot of respect for him. He's one of my favorites now.
Greg should be A tier minimum only for that shortcut. That Wonderland to Paradise Plaza shortcut is the most helpful thing any character in game can or will do for Frank.
Thanks for this video man. I always wanted one with an explanation on the characteristics or each survivor. I think that's just one of the many things that make the original great. They aren't just a carbon copy like in DR2
Fun fact:11 year old me actually gave ross the handgun because I was too used to games just telling me to do a, so I do a and didn't use my brain to think about it for 0.5 seconds. This is the same guy that played fallout new vegas at 12 years old and got mad that he was "forced" to side with caesars legion when he wanted to side with house instead because he didn't realize he could just not do the quest they gave him to do, and this is also the same guy who spent 7 minutes figuring out how to make a wooden pickaxe in alpha minecraft
I'd put Natalie on F tier just because of how annoying she is in the security room. I Don't feel like hearing her cry every time I go to save the game, and hearing her say. "I understand.." and then cry again and again. 😂😂
Ronald gets #1 for me, just for the mutiny. I kill him every new playthrough. Kick through the window, sandwich shop’s already barricaded. Knock knock bitch. “I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me!”
the first time i reached level 50 was because of ronald’s photo op and join bonus, and i promptly chainsawed him the second i saw “you have mastered the ‘zombie walk’ skill”
Fr like fuck that guy and the other idiot survivors that were actually gonna be stupid enough to follow him into his bullshit. Yea Kindell does the same thing but at least he had valid concerns and was reasonable enough to be talked down.
Personally the one survivor I couldn't stand was Leah, carrying her and her being slow I could deal with, but for the life of me I could not get her to go over the display case on her own, it always took a ton of coaxing for me and it would result in the other three running into a crowd of zombies and dying because of it, so unbelievably frustrating haha
I can agree even if Leah is a bit easy to escort. she is yet the second survivor you have to babysit constantly along side aaron as neither of them can get stuck in a horde (with Leah's slow movement and Aaron's inability to run past hordes) and it's no better because there's a chance Sophie and the convicts might spawn (if you aren't quick enough for them to spawn thankfully) and the player has to get Sophie quick but at the same time worry about Leah, Bill, Burt and Aaron and pray they aren't grabbed by a zombie (and after this and recruiting Sophie i am guessing the Kent scoop occurs if the player hasn't done that and went to the food court to help Brad) so yeah day 1 as a low level can sometimes be smooth or a nightmare😭
30:19 I’d say it’s because it’s the first time in a while that the raincoat cult wasn’t a threat anymore, so in response the number of zombies go through the roof to prevent the player from taking to big of a sigh of relief
I always thought it was just the rain coat guys becoming zombies and adding up to the pile they prolly just didn't have time to model zombie rain cult models before release
@@coolguychapman6685 damn. That probably IS what happened. Zombie crunch time. If only they just covered them in blood and had them only throttle you (instead of biting through through their masks)
It's never shown in-game as cultists only attack _you,_ but I've wondered if the idea is that the True Eye is culling the zombie horde while they're around. You never see any zombies within cultist groups and IIRC they tend to not have any zombies immediately around them, and it would explain why the horde density suddenly jumps up after the Sean fight.
Getting the achievement for escorting 8 female survivors at once was a horrific experience 😭 Also you can get the Saint achievement if you get the true ending. It’ll activate after you beat overtime mode. That’s how I got it
Dead Rising 1 finally clicked for me a few weeks ago and I've been having a great time playing it. I was a fan of 3 for the longest time because I didn't like hardcore time managment games growing up. I'm now hooked on trying to get the perfect run and I'm a huge fan of the OG games now and your videos are a great supplement to me learning about all the ins and outs of the game. Keep up the great videos!
Also agree about Paul. If he was a Day 1 survivor and he gave you molotoves as a reward then that would be way more useful at early game. By late game you get a crap load of Queens in Maint tunnel
basically, the further away from the safehouse they are, the more difficult it gets lol always keep a few queen bees. its so much easier to escort survivors if you set waypoints for them. especially once you realize that the game only loads zombies in at a certain distance (especially useful coming out of the fast travel bathroom going to the safehouse, its a pretty straight line, set the waypoint near the safehouse and wait for them to get close, throw a queen if needed to help a straggler.)
I found a glitch that if you give Ross a handgun and than talk to Tanya the second you hand, you can still save his life and he will also have a handgun
RUclips Founders: "I can't wait to see what innovated and awesome things our users will upload! We'll learn so much about each other!" This: A 30 minute, heavily detailed, informative, well-researched video about the best and worst survivors of Dead Rising.
I'll never forget a guy called "Gamerzclipz" trying to escort the survivors from Jo's mission and they started running wildly towards a pack of cult members 😂😂😂 Great to see my childhood game is still relevant! 💯
I remember a Minecraft RUclipsr trying to LP this game in 2013 (it’s been long deleted and he isn’t active anymore) and he couldn’t even complete Case 1. He didn’t even know how to escape a zombie grab.
Always interesting to see new people tackle this game in different ways- I remember one person got through to near the end of the game with almost no survivors saved- super under levelled. Needless to say I think they stopped or took a break once they got one shot by the attack helicopter missile strike lol. Also saw an under levelled person take on the cult leader and it looked basically impossible but they somehow beat him, without minichainsaws because they beat nearly no bosses. They barely beat him maybe with some exploits using pistols or something. Interesting to see different strategies or should i say "strategies."
In my last playthrough, I used a Quickstep and rapidly fired snipers at Sean, he catches up when you're shooting pretty quickly but repositioning with the Quickstep really outpaces him. Trying to fight him with normal weapons is much harder, and even after preparing I was still struggling to deal with all the cultists that burst in and then leading all those idiots past the cultists groups in Paradise plaza.
@@hiverhythmback when i first played the game, my cousin had me restart every time i died with my old levels, game takes a bit longer like that but I had a good amount of fun replaying it like that earlier this year
One interesting feature I just recently learned about Shinji and Yuu is, if either of the two die, the other will go to them and just stop and cry endlessly. They won’t follow you anymore or listen to commands. You’ll have to leave the area and come back in order to reset their AI to follow you again. Learned this by accident just now in 2024 bc after years of playing this game, it happened to me for the first time
Frank and Nick both made sense as protagonists. Frank had already gotten infected at some point and nicks body’s had antibodies for the parasites. This version of the zombie outbreak is not survivable being exposed out in the open.
FYI you can still get the Saint even if you don’t save Simone. If you fail the main cases early enough then you got extra leeway of extra survivors that count toward total that you otherwise wouldn’t get. Jesse, Brad, and Dr Barnaby that normally would die can still be rescued when you going for “B ending” runs.
If you recruit Pamela before Heather, then she will follow Frank's command. However, the second Heather officially joins then Pamela starts to follow her. Love this vid btw! The only one I kind of disagree with is Tonya. I usually give her an SMG and she's aggressive enough to handle herself. It does take a lot of dropping and picking up Ross, though.
I also think Beth from a Strange Group has like, the lowest health in the game. She crumbles SO easily, it definitely feels like she has half the health of a normal survivor. And it's also super hard to gauge Michelle's health because her entire freaking name covers her health bar lolol
Late but a tactic i use when escorting is if i get to he door before the survivor and they get hung up or grabbed is to go to the other area and go back. It despawns the zombies and they get room to move usually.
I played this game again after like 13 years, pretty much blind as I only really remembered the opening scene and Adam. Yeah I got Ross killed by giving him the handgun thinking it was part of the mission all right…
The survivors in dr1 why i'll like the 2nd one more. Theres challenge then theres...what dr1 did lol. I left in pure frustration because i constantly had to restart for all survivor run With that said, the game is fun as hell
This is an interesting video as someone who’s never played the first game until the remaster. I’d like to hear your thoughts on the survivor AI in the remaster too.
I legitimately never knew about the zombie multiplier. But now that you mention it, it makes sense. I noticed on a recent play through how truly terrible transporting Sean’s survivors through the Paradise plaza is. It is a nightmare. I had to stop and heal the survivors three times because they get quickly swarmed + stun locked by the zombies. I’m wondering if this got fixed in the DRDR.
Good video bro. Been playing DR1 since launch and man.. I am way too familiar with all these people on this list. Found myself agreeing with you. Made a good point about the molotov's being a novelty more than useful. 100%ing DR1 was quite a challenge and not just for the legendary 7day survivor achievement. That achievement is mostly an endurance contest (I fell asleep on my first attempt lmao) but the real challenge are those survivors. My least favorite has got to be Bill. Correct me if I'm wrong but I swear there is programing for Bill to not go into the gym willingly (sometimes I will put my survivors in there that I am escorting because Alfresca can be a bitch) But also every time without failure, Bill will try to run up and fight Adam with me, even if I have a marker set for him to go somewhere else. Cracks me up every time though.
Interesting discussion. I agree with what you're saying here and the tiers you set the surivors at. It would be nice if you cover DR2 or DR2 Off the Record as well.
I would place the movie plaza survivors higher up personally. If you try to rescue them at night before Santa Cabeza, then yeah, they're F tier. But I always find myself waiting until after Santa Cabeza to rescue them, when there's for some reason less zombies to deal with, and when they're not so aggressive, the survivors are still a pain to deal with, but considerably less so.
i don’t get the hate for otis, he’s the one who’s telling you to find survivors, he’s always there to greet you on your way out and wishes you safety. and he is the one who saves the survivor when the military comes. otis deserves more love
@@dawsonh420 It’s annoying when you’re trying to hear his calls but whenever you attacked by Zombies it’s interrupts the call, when you call him back Otis wastes time scolding you how rude it was to cut him off and he repeats the whole message over again from the start.
Quickstep + Small Chainsaw = Dead Convicts! You can literally run at the convicts diagonally to avoid their bullets, kill the driver in a couple swings, and finish the rest easy peasy. With Quickstep it's pretty much guaranteed you'll make it to Sophie before the convicts reach her. If you can't get the small chainsaw, the katana in Paradise Plaza will do the trick. For Quickstep, use the milk and popsicles in the Foodcourt behind the counter of Frozen Dreams. If you're coming from the safehouse, bring coffee creamer from there and combine it with the orange juice at the Colombian Roastmasters in Paradise Plaza (where the katana is!). It's worth it to enter/exit the safehouse for 2 or 3 coffee creamers if you think you'll need the extra Quickstep for speed or healing.
Any survivor that has bad running posture, crawls on the ground while your shouting for them, anyone who refuses to fight zombies even when you give them a weapon, is slow. These are the things that aggravate me.
Idk who needs to hear this, but use the aim + Y command rather than the "follow me" command because they respond better to it for some reason and you can run "with" them rather than in front of them
Hey man, I hope we're all having a good ass time, in this even fuckin better game. Hopefully Capcom will take a peak at youtube one day, more views for this gd game than sales for the last 2 combined. Man, you put a lot of work into this. Hope it blows up!
Its always fun coming back to these games and seeing people still making videos on it. Like we all have these universal gems still and its fun that so many people still appreciate them. Sad what the series came to. But it is what it is.
I've found the best way to deal with the Movie Theatre group, as well as other groups that can hold weapons, is to give them shotguns and uzis, then basically use them as a firing squad and waypointing them to inch my way towards the warehouse while they clear the path. It can take a bit of time, and you get the odd few straggler zombies you need to kill yourself, but it's really satisfying watching them mow down hordes while you just have to watch to keep them in line. When I have the space, I always try to keep the Paradise and Al Fresca uzis, as well as Brian Reyolds' shotgun and one from the gun shop on me, so survivors can somewhat handle themselves when you waypoint them through an area.
I’ve been thinking about maybe trying to get the platinum but after looking at this my thoughts may have changed seriously good job for getting all of them hard asf to do that
The best survivors are the ones that I can either equip with a shotgun or an SMG, and who actually consistently shoot at the zombies to keep them away from the survivors who cannot be equipped with anything, or refuse to do anything other than cry I really wish you could get the brainwashing book super early in the game because I want to see if it would change any of the behavior of some of the earlier survivors. Make them more aggressive with whatever weapons I armed them with. I just went through another saint play through and I unexpectedly wound up getting the tour guide achievement as well, combination of the gun shop survivors and a bunch of the other individuals who pop up on day three. I wasn't even going for tour guide it just happened because I was trying to get to every scoop and nonlisted survivor before they despawned while racing the clock for the main story
Back when I first played Dead rising Chop till you drop, I gave Ross the gun and I had no idea he would take himself off the senses if you gave him the gun. Ever since, I just kept talking to him.
Sean’s hostages always make me nervous. The sheer amount of zombies and cultists everywhere makes what should be a quick trip back to the safe room feel like crossing no man’s land. A great example of how chaotic this game can get.
I cant remember the reason but i remember getting so angry at Jeff, I covered his head in spit, took a photo and saved only that photo. The loading screens were little doses of rage medicine.
Also had zero issues escorting Greg even on a fresh non level 50 run . Him automatically beelining for the bathroom is a plus in my eyes because at least the AI forces him into the destination, he doesn’t randomly cower/crawl around, he doesnt go out of his way to fight zombies, he gives you PP moments, and most importantly you shouldn’t have issue escorting him at all. You get not one but TWO small chainsaws (grab first one immediately after beating Adam and a second one spawns again after Greg spawns). Also when you do go to Paradise Plaza to bathroom he DOES start following your commands and escorting from women bathroom to warehouse door is cake especially when you still have 2 small chainsaws
I just booted up this game again to get zombie genocider and... walking through the plazas at night gave me honest to god, genuine ptsd episode with how damn stressful it was to get 8 survivors through those zombies. I think the WHOLE REASON I cant play a game start to finish anymore is because of that reason alone. 3 whole years ago and its still basically scarred me. Not because i couldnt finish it, i did, but i missed one. So all of that actual traumatizing screaming at my pc and breaking things was for literally nothing.
Anyone on the morning of Day 2 is a nightmare. There's Medicine Run (Carlito & Steven), Lovers, The Hatchet Man, and The Coward. I just remember rushing to get everything but The Coward done and saving it for the Jo Slade escort. It's a mess.
For Me, the worse in Xbox360 & Wii versions is Tonya & Ross follow by a power gap. In the Wii version, I think the camera function is removed, among many other parts of the game. So, the Gun Shop Standoff makes going back to the vent after meeting those 3 survivors, mandatory. The tutorial couple gave me a massive headache one time. One of them refused to climb the ledge, so I got annoyed and started attacking them.
Also imo survivors that you can “carry” is the best kind of survivors in my eyes. You’re not at the mercy of attocious AI and unlike “hold hands” it won’t randomly separate on obstacles. You also move pretty fast still on “carry” that you can still juke most zombies that isn’t the most crowded of crowds.
Any survivor that can't walk when you have other survivors to escort. Like Leah. You have to carry her with Bert and Aaron face the convicts and save Sophie who isn't able to hold a weapon. Crazy hard start to the game.
That dude burt and Arron tried saving them and accidentally killed them with the fountain dumbbell trying to save them just started laughing my ass off
The difference between dr and dr2 in survivors is day and night! Also for the worst escort (the movie one) what I did was basically make them stop and clear every single zombie ahead, and go through upstairs not through the middle
One of the most annoying survivors I had to deal with was Aaron cause he’s such a coward and most of the time I give him a gun he doesn’t use it! Barbara is annoying too since she’s so slow compared to the other guys. One thing I did find out tho is after you kill Cliff and you’re most likely in the red for the story mission, you can just not open the door to save the three, go to the security room to get the scoop, and if you come back to north plaza they’re still in there! No damage at all! I was pulling my hair trying to save these idiots but Barbara kept falling behind and even got turned undead when I left her to make it to the security room in time! Burt is really useful with a gun so I’d put him in S tier while Aaron is f tier. Gordan was surprisingly useful during my recent playthrough cause I give him a gun and he doesn’t cry or cower around me. Sean’s survivors weren’t that bad for me thanks to the cult magazine and I just give ‘em guns. Also Sean’s sword is so useful to get through zombie hoards and I was lucky enough to find queens in the big group so I didn’t really have a problem.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dead Rising 2. I grew up with it but I never played Dead Rising 1. I am going to be going through it soon. It's crazy how much replayability these games have.
I actually came up with a strategy if I have a medium or large escort of survivors called store jumping where I send the group in a store so I thin the horde so there's less issues while escorting them
Ross was definitely one of the worst survivors when I played this game for the first time a few weeks ago. Unless I missed something they really didn't think through the fact that he can't walk, as getting him to vault up to the duct enterance was agonizing.

i decided to pick up the game again today and that was the exact spot where I was, i tried getting both of them but I was preoccupied saving Isabella and he unfortunately died 😢
Oh sweet, gotta check this out!
I used to do this on Xbox 360 j totally forgot it was possible!
Never knew about this and I’m so happy now. A team of Carry survivors with shotguns is the funniest thing ever.
Giving Susan an Uzi has got to be the funnest thing I've ever done. She went from Granny to Gangster.
"I usually arm Susan with a submachine gun" 🤣🤭
Mindy and Debbie deserve props for instantly burying the hatchet with a guy threatening to BURN them five minutes beforehand
With the situation at hand, it's heck of a funny situation in some way
the ai was originally supposed to be more complex for survivors. like how sometimes they randomly crawl on the floor in the retail release. the way leah grabs onto frank in the jewelry store, was also remnants of old survivor ai. there are videos about it here on yt, pretty interesting stuff.
i think people mistake the survivor ai being programmed to "be scared" of crowds of zombies and sometimes panicking as bad programming. yet once you pick up the survivor magazine which "makes survivors fearless" they have no problem running wherever you tell them too without hesitation.
i rarely give survivors weapons in any dead rising game, but whatever kendalls ai is programmed at, he is pretty efficient with a shotgun, same with the ppl in the gun shop. set them on a waypoint and zombies really can't get close to them for the most part.
@@bosscomplex shit just had me quit a little bit ago never stepping in that water again lmao
Dunno if the AI is intentionally bad or the devs had no clue, it’s a chore baby sitting these guys while having to manage your own health, getting grabbed every 10 seconds too
Maybe if they were more competent with weapons or had more health that would counteract their awful pathfinding
Its why you gotta use the vehicles.
They can seat several survivors.
Love hearing you talk about how you combine your own route with speedrun strats, that stuff is so interesting
Thank you! Honestly, some speedrunning tactics can help new players.
Greg should be A tier minimum only for that shortcut. That Wonderland to Paradise Plaza shortcut is the most helpful thing any character in game can or will do for Frank.
Definitely! 👌
Honestly I feel like the shortcut alone should give him S tier since he does make saving others infinitely easier
Thanks for this video man. I always wanted one with an explanation on the characteristics or each survivor. I think that's just one of the many things that make the original great. They aren't just a carbon copy like in DR2
I agree. DR2 made them a bit too easy.

Why didn't you pick her up yourself?
@@gwkiv1458 Once I get her over the counter I can, I just can't get her over the counter first without endangering the other survivors
30:19 I’d say it’s because it’s the first time in a while that the raincoat cult wasn’t a threat anymore, so in response the number of zombies go through the roof to prevent the player from taking to big of a sigh of relief
Actually, that’s a good point. Never thought of it like that.
The rain coat cult suits were to disguise themselves as zombies so they don't get attacked by them
It's never shown in-game as cultists only attack _you,_ but I've wondered if the idea is that the True Eye is culling the zombie horde while they're around.
You never see any zombies within cultist groups and IIRC they tend to not have any zombies immediately around them, and it would explain why the horde density suddenly jumps up after the Sean fight.
Getting the achievement for escorting 8 female survivors at once was a horrific experience 😭
Also you can get the Saint achievement if you get the true ending. It’ll activate after you beat overtime mode. That’s how I got it
I’m so glad RUclips recommended me this! This a great video idea and you handled the list really well! Definitely gonna subscribe
Thank you!
Saving every survivor in the first game in one playthrough is no question one of the hardest things ive ever done gamewise
Also agree about Paul. If he was a Day 1 survivor and he gave you molotoves as a reward then that would be way more useful at early game. By late game you get a crap load of Queens in Maint tunnel
basically, the further away from the safehouse they are, the more difficult it gets lol
always keep a few queen bees.
its so much easier to escort survivors if you set waypoints for them. especially once you realize that the game only loads zombies in at a certain distance (especially useful coming out of the fast travel bathroom going to the safehouse, its a pretty straight line, set the waypoint near the safehouse and wait for them to get close, throw a queen if needed to help a straggler.)
I found a glitch that if you give Ross a handgun and than talk to Tanya the second you hand, you can still save his life and he will also have a handgun

I'll never forget a guy called "Gamerzclipz" trying to escort the survivors from Jo's mission and they started running wildly towards a pack of cult members 😂😂😂
Great to see my childhood game is still relevant! 💯
Or his first episode and he raged

And chuck just had such extreme levels of testosterone, the zombies couldn't infect him. Even IF they could bite THROUGH that sweet jacket.
great video. i love to see a renewal in interest of this great franchise
They may revive the series. Don't think it'll ever happen.
@@punjabiprincess908inshallah capcom will give us what we want
@MattressStore-dh8bs massive dr w
Aaron also kills himself if he gets swarmed. Not super common but happened to me once
I never heard of you before and honestly I’m glad that I do now because you clearly put in a lot of time and effort into this video
Thanks! And yeah it took a while lol

Agreed. I think I had 2-3 restarts/reloads in my Saint run lol
Hell yeah! Love Dead Rising videos like these. Great video man!

This is about the msot random thing I've seen this week. And yet is exactly the video I needed.

Very well done video, my man! Love learning new small details in this amazing game!
Thanks!
Southern man who loves dead rising you are my brother
Any survivor that has bad running posture, crawls on the ground while your shouting for them, anyone who refuses to fight zombies even when you give them a weapon, is slow.
These are the things that aggravate me.
Idk who needs to hear this, but use the aim + Y command rather than the "follow me" command because they respond better to it for some reason and you can run "with" them rather than in front of them
You can get saint on a true ending. It just doesn’t proc until after overtime is finished, as isabella doesn’t count til then.

I’ve been thinking about maybe trying to get the platinum but after looking at this my thoughts may have changed seriously good job for getting all of them hard asf to do that
The best survivors are the ones that I can either equip with a shotgun or an SMG, and who actually consistently shoot at the zombies to keep them away from the survivors who cannot be equipped with anything, or refuse to do anything other than cry
I really wish you could get the brainwashing book super early in the game because I want to see if it would change any of the behavior of some of the earlier survivors.
5:57 I sense some anger in that sentence haha.
Hey really nice video bro, was a great watch while I ate my lunch. Gonna check out your psychopath analysis video you mentioned. Liked & Subbed 👍

You get the saint achievement after beating overtime as long as you start it immediatly after and keep izibella and yourself alive.
I always killed Natalie and Jeff on every play through but the first so I didn’t have to hear her annoying crying every two seconds in the safe room
Can’t wait for September when this will be updated.

Love this type of content! Keep it up! :D
Also had zero issues escorting Greg even on a fresh non level 50 run
Awesome video man, enjoyed every second. Dead Rising 1 is a classic, frustrating...but classic :)

I hope in the deluxe edition they improve the ai
For Me, the worse in Xbox360 & Wii versions is Tonya & Ross follow by a power gap. In the Wii version, I think the camera function is removed, among many other parts of the game. So, the Gun Shop Standoff makes going back to the vent after meeting those 3 survivors, mandatory. The tutorial couple gave me a massive headache one time. One of them refused to climb the ledge, so I got annoyed and started attacking them.
Been playing this game since 06 , never knew you could pp from shooting the plates in the food court!
Also imo survivors that you can “carry” is the best kind of survivors in my eyes. You’re not at the mercy of attocious AI and unlike “hold hands” it won’t randomly separate on obstacles. You also move pretty fast still on “carry” that you can still juke most zombies that isn’t the most crowded of crowds.
that was a really cool video man nice work

4:17 so if you'd save just Jeff, if that's even possible, and then go back for Natalie, will she just be incapable of following you?

The difference between dr and dr2 in survivors is day and night! Also for the worst escort (the movie one) what I did was basically make them stop and clear every single zombie ahead, and go through upstairs not through the middle
I had no idea Greg even existed, i thought the scoop was just fot Adam
The fact that aaron swoop isnt stier is astounding
Worst survivor was that old woman in the beginning who HAD to save her yappy dog and let the zombies in.
