yea would also be nice to know how u could avoid mold buildup aswell. I know if I leave the window open in the winter when it is cold outside with the heating on, condensation will buildup on the walls and carpet which would enable mold to grow. Which seems contrary to popular information that open windows help avoid mold growth. Im guessing this is because cold air comes in through the window and hits the wall/carpet leaving behind condensation. But I reacon if its a nice summer day with warm weather, then having windows open will be a benefit to prevent mold growth.

My farher was a builder and never believed in insulation because he believed it was a source for mold. Turned out I had always smelled what I thought was mold in a guest bedroom but no one else could smell it but me. Went in the attic and saw no mold. Months later a stain formed on the bedroom ceiling and grew. Still saw no mold in the attic. It wasn't until a new roof was put on we discovered ice dam damage. Sure enough, when we removed pink insulation in attic there was cellulose insulation below it and that's where the mold was.! Always follow your intuition when you smell something off regardless if no one else does.

I always smelled mold in my sister's youngest son's room. She would have me to come over and help her with the housework in the past. Her eldest son had developed a bone disease in his hip. The youngest son suddenly came down with Lyme disease, he totally collapsed in pain while running track. Now my sister has Fibromyalgia. If they ever found the source of the mold smell, I wasn't told. I know first hand what different molds can do to our bodies, and none of it is good. Grandkids lost a lemon in the kitchen, I knew when I started having coughing spasms that something was molded. Found the lemon cleaned the area, coughing spasms gone. Certain laundry detergents, perfumes, etc.. can have the same effect on me. Mold and other things can be very dangerous for us. Maybe more so for some people.

When we were house hunting, our realtor would do research on drywall history first , but she honored my instincts. A few houses we looked at, I knew something was wrong very quickly.

Fifteen years for me to even get a diagnosis. The last five or so I literally told doctors, including multiple ND’s, “I inhaled mold” and they would shrug or look at me like I was crazy when I told them I get pressure in my ears within seconds of eating. I haven’t been able to hear properly for over 6 years now and get told it’s age related hearing loss, even though eating makes it way, way worse. I have spent upwards of $60,000 and finally found a doc who took me seriously but now I’m in the middle of headaches, brain fog, and dizziness so bad I’m afraid to go for a walk or drive.

Holy Crap! You described many conditions I had living in a home for under a year. I have since moved out and been free for three weeks of that home, and I notice many things are different, the most significant one sugar! I've never been a big sugar eater, but I was craving it like crazy; tired, sleepless cranky, crying and smelling things, mainly nasty mold smells, horrible; my migraines have calmed down as for the sugar cravings, and my sleep has improved (meaning I sleep and wake refreshed not tired or lethargic). That makes sense. I did find the source,, and spoke to the manager about it. I just broke the lease with the communications via email with pictures and the many requests that something needs to be done. I am feeling better now and even breathing better too. You just made sense of what I was going through. My doctor tried but said best to move, so I did that.

I'm not really a sweets person but the last few months i crave sugar so bad I'm afraid I'm going to become diabetic. I have a hard time breathing when I'm home, my skin is very itchy (even though i naturally have oily, olive complexion skin). My roommate had blood work done and she has a high levels of estrogen and they don't know why. I have had a strong sense that the house is moldy but after watching this, i am convinced of it. What do we do to get the city or state to pay for testing the house for mold? I know its expensive and i believe the state should pay for finding, removing it and covering our health care costs. And worst of all I'm extremely agitated and apathetic only when I'm home and am excruciatingly exhausted all the time, even if i sleep 12 hours. Thank you for this video!

I live in an older house that I've rented for the past 6 years. Since I've lived here, the basement has flooded 3 times to an inch or two of water. The basement is paneled. I wondered, at the time of the floodings whether it was staying wet behind the paneling and molding.
Also, since I've been in this house I have been very lethargic - always with a dull underlying depression. I used to be very motivated but I've put this lethargy down to aging. I could go on and on about how my mental state has changed. Some of the other symptoms mentioned are also there, but those could have other causes, so I don't want to be plugging in everything to possible mold causes.
I don't see any visual signs of mold, but there is a musty damp smell in the basement. The heat/air conditioning vent is right next to my bed, so the air from the basement is always discharging the air from the basement into the bedroom. After watching this, I'm beginning to wonder whether remaining in this house is healthy.

I got sick from hidden mold beneath the old lathe over my bed when I was a curator for a living farmstead museum for two months. I actually diagnosed myself before the doctor visit. I walked in and told him what I thought was my problem. He dismissed my concerns and I was referred from specialist to specialist for three months before giving up. I maxed out my insurance and couldn’t afford it any more. Instead, I devised my own body cleanse and adopted close to what we’d now call a raw vegan diet for several months. I started feeling a little better after 10 days, and gradually, the symptoms faded away. I stuck to the diet for another month, then gradually reintroduced various foods. I eat a normal diet except for soy and peanuts to which I’ve always been allergic. The only remaining symptom, if it can be called that, is extreme sensitivity to mold. If there’s mold in a place, I react within a minute with sinus and wheezing.

Sinunitus or nasal drip, fatigue, sleep issues as I sleep two hours at time, dry eyes chronic, joint pain, low mood, tightness chest at night, chronic constipation, dry cough, always dehydrated no matter what. Yet, all physicals come out fine. Hormone imbalances with replacement therapy due to hystoectomy. You can see the mold on outside building and corner of bedroom floor rotting. Bathroom just painted over. I live above a garage that is full of mold. Laundry room floor below bedroom under and by water tank floor cement covered in black mold you can smell. Landlord advised and does nothing. Bathroom heavy mold painted over. The sink opposite of wall where corner if bedroom rotting ,mold showing. Pipes sweat. Windows are cracked and full of mold as they are old wooden double pane with dead bugs in them. I have giant black ants alot and recently found a centipede . Duct work has never been inspected or cleaned and has possible mice droppings. My cat and I have heard something svurring in walls at times. Brutal. Landlord refuses to atleast put new windows. There is no circulation of dowstairs and laundry room st all. I could leave the dowdtairs door open but the screen has hole he refuses to fix had wasps come in. So that is duct taped. I am in Australia and can relate to 90% of whats been mentioned. Landlord always claims not to have funds to fix the issues. When they can, it's minimalist and cheap repairs. Some I've had to do myself just to be able to live in a cleaner environment. Rents are expensive here plus not much housing stock on the market, so my health continues to suffer at the expense of my landlord. Hope you can improve your situation, I pray the Lord for us both. ❤

Thank you so much for this post. I KNOW I have mold in my apartment and is mainly hidden behind framed pictures or a few other dark spots. As part of a strata, I complained and they sent someone out who really didn't do any true readings. Because it would cost the strata money to fix. I wake up every day in a fog, with a headache and stuffy sinuses. And other things like depression. I had reported it to the committee before they decided to paint the building. Because the remedials would have been costly and more so since the building was just painted. A whole other story there. But in my desperation I bought a dehumifier which I use just in my bedroom and which fills the 2 litre water catch every 8 hours or less. Even my beloved cat has stopped sneezing. I also bought an air purifier. So a little bit gained. I know white vinegar is one of the best things to remove the mold but I cannot reach everywhere. I somehow have to work out how to afford someone independent to inspect and report for me. I have been sick for years. And taken a ridiculous amount of antibiotics. And pain meds. You cannot live in a small community anymore where people look out for each other.

Unfortunately, mold and mycotoxins exposure from water damage is too common. Multiple remediation efforts on multiple properties haven’t worked but moving from one moldy place to another isn’t sustainable either. Constantly replacing cars hasn’t been fun. I need to find another option other than strict avoidance. Heard glyphosate and emfs potentiate mold growth and mycotoxin production. Many long Covid cases have been linked to toxic mold exposure.

I am also on serious medication for depression but I Still am very depressed. I keep thinking I am losing my mind! My family thinks I am crazy which breaks my heart. I am having a severe toxicity problem in my TX apartment and getting no where with my landlord. I had my own HVAC inspector up who discovered a gaping hole in my ductwork leading into the 50 year old attic above between the intake vent and the furnace. Symptoms have been severely burning eyes, lungs and throat, everything else you mentioned plus, zero appetite and rapid weight lost. At one point, I had to go to the ER for the first time in my life for a breathing treatment! I just ran an expensive mold test - waiting for results - and if that doesn't produce something, I will pay for a VOC test. A pharmacist recommended an iodine nasal solution at bedtime. Bad news... Really blew up my sinuses! Charcoal at night eases the symptoms more than anything. What type of medical tests to you recommend for people in these situations, Dr O?

I have a toe fungus already for some years. It doesnt look too bad, just discoloration but it didnt respond to any treatment, nor does it seem to infect other toes or bodyparts and it also gives no discomfort at all like itching. I use organic toenail oil that keeps it mildly under control. I scrape the tissue out every now and then and fill the void with the oil and it seems to halt it but not stop it as it sits firmly under my toenail. Fungus does not spread via socks or shoes so its doesnt seem the regular swimmers mould. Thanks to you confirming on another case I might deal with a mould infection, I looked for more of your videos as the symptoms I find elsewhere are vague and do not apply to me most of the time. I do not have respiratory issues except maybe for a normal cough now and then responding to dry air with little muccus now and then. Your symptom list here got me definitely more active on working with mould infection. I had nearly all of the symptoms varying from non existent most of the time to severe present. With hormonal disbalance and apathy being the biggest players. I already am dealing with the possible mould on my windows, I need to get the money to invest in a good quality air purifier and hope this finaly solves my riddle of years of health issues that started about a year after moving in in my current house. Which has no classic conditions for mould (air is fairly dry, the walls are all clean, no wooden ceilings etc) but the windows haze so easily, there nearly always sits water on the sills and the wood of the windowframes has not been cared for during the previous 20 years of being a rental house. I bought it in good condition but didnt repaint all the windowsils yet, however I did treat the one in the bedroom with the paint you use for outdoor wooden furniture to make it more moist resilliant. I hope to change them to more durable non wood frames where mould cant grow in the edges, because wood frames like this in a bathroom is asking for trouble imo. This window is open however whenever weather allows so its also the only window without possible (visible) mould growing in it.

I know how she first became infected because she kept diaries for more than six decades. Osteoporosis was not present in other bones. Osteoporosis medications did nothing for her spine. At some point she wanted to try for a procedure involving injection of (epoxy) substance to fill a gap. Radiology showed how her spine looked like ashes. Vertebral escape left her with a razor-sharp edge impingement against a nerve. I can’t tell all in this small comment space. Nobody really wants to know this.

The bigger issue here is, how does someone suffering from detrimental chronic mycotoxin poisons exposure, actually get help from a health care system full of doctors that are reluctant and really in denial that a person could have a life threatening mold infection of the brain?
That's my dilemma right now. I'm diagnosed with early onset dementia, but my impairments and symptoms have anomalies that aren't typically presented. I have raised the question of a mycotoxin component, only to be dismissed outright. The symptom anomalies are just eye rolled and shrugged off to infinity and beyond.
Is there a lab where I can send a urine or blood sample to, and I can just pay out of pocket for the lab work? It would at least give some proof to support what I'm nearly certain is a mycotoxin infection, and not just dementia.

They only thing those doctors will do is prescribe something to get you to go away. Make you feel stupid or remove body parts that you most definitely need. Keep looking into the mold issue. Unfortunately though it’s gonna be up to and the help will not come. It won’t come in support from doctors even. I would go with your gut. You are much more capable in finding out if your home has mold or I know that diet has so much to do with mental health. You need to get off of all processed foods and slowly start making the most of eating. If you live like everyone else it will kill you. I am right there with ya but don’t bother with the butchers. What will remove mold from our bodies, if we do have it growing in us? Once anything like clothing, furniture, etc... are exposed to certain molds, it's impossible to get the smell out, unless it's placed in direct sunlight and sometimes that doesn't work. In that case what ever has the mold smell, has to be discarded.

Other than the sinusitis you know what this also sounds like? Perimenopause! Why does everything that can go wrong with people sound like something else that could be going wrong with them also?? So sick of living in this biological body. So ready to leave this place!

? Is what to do about it if You’re unable to move? How to counteract or stave off mold in Your home?

Fix the issue, if it's drywall take it out and take out the insulation behind cause it's probably affected, this is the most important step if you're able to do so (with masks and make sure you close everything in the house off if you're gonna do it by yourself so it doesn't spread throguh air) If it's too much for you currently at least get a mold killer wall primer and paint the wall with mold preventing paints . 2nd most important step would be to get a Dehumidifier (or multiple, depends on how big your space is) and keep the moisture around 40-50% , make sure you open the windows no matter how hot or cold it is, just get the moisture out when showering or cooking , shower with doors open and leave them open even if you have a bathroom vent. Not too much more that

How can I test for mold?

Homeowners and renters can direct you or, you can seek out a licensed mold inspector yourself. I like Biocide products for treating my home. They give great counsel, as well. Just ordered one of their air scrubbers after months of fighting with my landlord made it obvious they were not going to help me with the problem that exists in my HVAC system and/or, behind my walls. Sure hope it works....

Do you recommend the VCS test? It helped me get a diagnosis. Very easy and not expensive.
