Black mold is easily distinguishable from other molds because, not surprisingly, it tends to be dark black. Black mold is most likely to rear its ugly head in areas of the home that are warm, humid and damp. In addition to showers, basements and crawlspaces that may have leaks are commonly susceptible.
Black mold exposure and black mold poisoning can cause a wide range of health problems. Some symptoms can be really serious. In this episode of Ancient Medicine Today, I’m sharing how by cleansing your body and making changes in your home, you can overcome and prevent black mold symptoms. Watch to learn more.

Do you still have mold in your house? My mom refused to do anything about the mold in the drywall behind the tiles in the bathroom, because it's "too expensive" & she feels fine (although heavily medicated). She said I just need back on antidepressants, which I took for a few months last year (I took the only ones that ever worked for me) & they did nothing!

How did you use the bentonite clay and activated charcoal? How often and how much for each dose? How long did it take you to get better? I'm using oils of oregano and garlic in coconut oil, ACV, a neti pot, xlear nasal spray with grapefruit seed extract and xylitol for about 6 weeks. I'm a bit better, but still get tired very easy. I hope the clay and charcoal will do the trick and look forward to your response!

I sneeze at any hint of mold contamination, and people think my body is sick because I sneeze, however they are the, ones that breathe the mold deep in their lungs daily in places i cannot even be in for a second without a sneeze attack. Please believe your body, landlords and homeowners must be responsible to keep homes safe. If you sneeze and hurting eyes this is not you being sick, your body is protecting yourself.

I went to the Cleveland Clinic one year ago today and was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. I am thrilled to finally find out what's been going on for the last 15 years. I was in a water damaged house for about a year when I started developing horrible symptoms. Brain fog, heart palpitations, puffy face, memory issues, low t3 syndrome, cold hands and feet, numbness in fingers, and food sensitivities. Even developed stomach issues (burping, constipation, etc.)

Thank you for saying “It’s not in your head.” I was so sick, bedridden, had to quit work, doctors gave me every test, nothing showed up, so they said it was in my head and I was delusional and sent me to a mental hospital and got a court order forcing me to take schizophrenic meds. I got worse and almost died. Took me three years to find out it was black mold in my body. Finally found a Dr who can help me. There’s a lot more to the story-it was a horrible nightmare, to say the least.

I’ve been dealing with mold, Candida, Lyme, CEBV etc. Western Medicine has CONTINUED to fail me and my family. I’ve seen about 60 doctors in the matter of 8 years and you’re totally right, lots of diagnosis with no known etiology. Which is a joke in itself. Their answer is to load me up on med after med w continuing multiplying symptoms. It makes me fearful for or future but happy that functional medicine is becoming more mainstream year after year ~ the flicker of light for our country. A big one for me after getting out of the environment~ which I thought would make a huge difference~ (I actually got worse) is realizing that if you have mold you also most definitely have Candida and possibly varying other parasites. Serious cleansing and opening pathways is essential!

Spot on. I work at a major top ten college in a humid climate with many old buildings with outdated HVAC systems. I'm a janitor. After 2 years I kept getting sick with all those symptoms and chronic sinus infections. It was becoming seriously debilitating. I was the having the worst problem. Others were not. Eventually noticed regular fuzz looks like lint. Bought a test kit and had it tested. Off the charts mold. I was immediately accommodated when I brought that to bosses attention. Too extensive in all buildings to fix but it's kept moderate with air filters and cleaning. My symptoms are tolerable. Your recommendations are all used by me and do help.

Several years back I moved into some apartments that I truly believe with all my heart and soul that there was black mold in the walls. Thanks mate this is totally spot-on! I live in Queensland in the tropics of Australia and have suffered ongoing black mould poisoning as it was growing through both of our air conditioning units. Being from the dry south I never knew of the dangers, but the locals do. After repeated lung and sinus infections, fever symptoms, courses of antibiotics there was no relief. It was the brain fog and neurological symptoms that told me there was something was really wrong. Finally my doctor asked about the home environment and potential sources of mould. We've now had all the air conditioners professionally cleaned and are in the process of de-moulding the house, things have already improved. Thanks for your help with the mould detox, comprehensive and just what I needed to get onto now.

I had big results with vegeable soup detox eating some fish. Supplementing cloves, black wall nut and worm wood. I also drank a lot of water (even more) so I would wake up during the night. I would then consume bentonite clay (to keep it removed from other foods) after doing this for 4 days I got heavy healing crisis reactions that I managed with milk thistle and hot detox baths. I got two huge effects from this process. I stopped getting viruses and even when I got it it would barely be evident before that if develop a virus every few weeks and even cold often felt like flu. The other big effect was reduction in chronic restless legs and severe muscle pain in calf's. 36 year old guy.
Fasting was just as successful for me in improved strength, concentration and anxiety reduction.

Dr. Axe, your informational videos are appreciated! I have been experiencing symptoms that led me to believe that I have MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome). I’ve been struggling on and off for four years with respiratory issues, shortness of breath, throat tightness, a multitude of food allergies and reactions, anaphylactic type reactions, on top of random neurological issues, and recurrent infections. I found the diagnosis after many doctors couldn’t tell me why my body was acting this way. The #1 trigger? Mold toxicity!
I tested my home for mold and it was found in all rooms tested. Now, I’m taking the steps to heal my body. Thank you for your research!!

@kimberlym2341 I just found out I have mold spores in my home, and it is expensive to remediate. Clothes, bed, walls, carpet, shoes omg It's like you have to start all over or move. You have to either hire a mold remediation company or the cheap route that may help. True Hepa filter vacuum that removes 99% spores, mop everyday, deep clean your house with cleaners that can remove mold, air purifier that uses a HEPA filter, have your air ducks, low mold diet, activated charcoal and there is more. Just start here.

I had noticed the filters on the HVAC system were filthy so I changed them and called in a guy to clean the ducts. Low and behold there was mold thoughtout the system. I have been living in a home with mold for almost 4 years. We have had the ceiling leak so badly that it filled 50 gallon totes (4 of them about 2/3 full) with GREEN water. We have a drop ceiling with fiberglass type squares. It has leaked several times to a lesser degree and now there is visible mold in the ceilings, on the walls and in the base boards. When it rains my carpet gets wet from inside the wall.
I rent, and there is no protection in WI. for renters that makes the landlord fix these problems. I wish that this would change. I have COPD, asthma, mold and other allergies, and had lung cancer 6 years ago and had part of a lung removed. I am sick all the time. I am tired all the time. I have a son who has had to have several procedures to expand his esophagus (it was 5mm) due to ALLERGY exposure long term - and this makes me sick. The health department has been in my home and he never fixed anything he was supposed to - but the worst is that they said there is nothing they can do to make him fix the mold.
As of about a week ago I began moving out - finally! I have to leave almost everything I own behind but I have to say that my health had an immediate improvement. SO much better!! I was never able to have someone check the house - as I could not afford it.
People should be protected with renting when it comes to mold.

Depending on where you live and if you rent. Call and let the home owner let him know the situation. If he does nothing you can call your local codes department and report the landlord and inform them of the black or green mold problem. Be ready to move tho as I heard black mode is very hazardous and expensive to get ride of and codes might just give you a day to move if it's really bad. My family and I spent a whole year in a rental sick all the time till when we finally found the sources of the black mold. It was the showerhead, behind the walls of the bathroom. Plus the area below the bathroom in the basement which was near the furnace which was being spread via air to all rooms whenever the heating system was used. Which in my area is like 8 months out of the year. We move and all the symptoms disappeared. Good luck.

I'm suffering from mold illness along with migraine headaches (was chronic, now episodic) and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). I have moved and gotten rid of most my belongings. Synthetic fragrance in laundry detergent, softern, dryer sheets, perfume, shampoo, deodorant, dish soap, other cleaners, cigarette/vape smoke, etc. make me have an instant burning in my head, sometimes lungs and if exposure is long enough, it an trigger a migraine. It's very sensitive and usually when I take a walk outside the air just constantly smells like laundry detergent.
Yes, I've had doctors tell me that it's all in my head. I am now working with a naturopathic doctor who is very supportive. I'm improving everyday, but wanted to post because anyone who reads this --- I would encourage you to significantly reduce your synthetic fragrance exposure -- especially laundry. Wool dryer balls and essential oils are a great replacement. Febreeze or other sprays are chock full of chemicals that are terrible to breathe in and if you have mold issues, chemical fragrance is not your friend! Again -- EOs that are pure and not cut with synthetics are great and beneficial.
    Best of luck with recovery!

This is a bit long but worth reading. I worked in a basement of a school. When I entered this building I felt like I was suffocating, it smelled like the building was shut up for years on many mornings and my voice was hoarse all the time. At the end of my work day I was so tired I wanted to sleep, it was draining to drive home, my whole body felt like a weight and by the end of the day it actually hurt my mind to think. Many of the kindergarten children had constant runny noses every morning. We went through tissue boxes galore. I was told by a custodian there was mold all through the elevator shaft. The school was located in a watershed area. Seems the mold doesn't affect everyone so no one does anything about it. I left that school and work in a different school now. I don't feel like I did then. No hoarseness, chronic fatigue in the evening and yes, my doctor claimed my symptoms were depression. Some doctors so ignorant and uneducated. Side note-- A problems like gout I diagnosed with the help of the internet. And I had another doctor tell me I was stupid for not giving my daughter milk. A test I had to demand, to obtain a doctor order, to prove she was lactose intolerant. Just a few of several incidents I have had with doctors. No wonder they claim depression is widespread, seems that is what they tell many they must have rather than actually probe more to find out what is truly happening.

The doctors used to tell me all the time I was being crazy, "its all in your head." I lived in an apartment for 8 years, not knowing that was the source cause to all my E.R visits I had, I lost my gallbladder and had a long list of health issues, while I lived there, were connected to black mold.. Also during the duration of living there, I was pregnant with my youngest son while living there... It was after I moved from there, i made this connection. I haven't lived there in 6 years, but all the symptoms you said, I have. Plus more sensitivities I have,
I can't have any sulfate, sulphate, sulfites of any form, I have become allergic to eggs, dairy and my favorite fruit pineapple.
But anyhow, I have been researching on my own and have tried many things, but due to how sensitive my system is to many things, what things I have tried that were supposed to be gentle were extremely harsh..

I'm going to check out Amazon....

Make sure to wear clothes that covers your whole body and that you don't mind throwing away. Wear goggles, and gloves. Believe it or not apple cider vinegar and hydrogen peroxide mixed together in a spray bottle do wonders, spray on mold let it soak then spray again and with a rag clean. Than throw away all items used in a separate bag, tied & throw away. Keep pets and children away while doing this and cover all furniture as the spores will spread if not done correctly contaminating other areas of your home.

I've been dealing with rashes, headaches, earaches, muscle pain, hand and foot pain, tickle cough that comes and goes as well as brain fog and just noticed black mold in the bathroom last night. They have tested me for all kinds of things prior to this in the last three to four months at Shands and act like nothing is wrong with me and I feel like I am dying.

Thank you for this video. I have been diagnosed with Hypersensitive Pneumonitis (Lungs are Inflamed) from being exposed to mold. I was steroids for 8 weeks now nothing. Apparently that treatment helped me, so it is just time now to get things back to normal. Been off work for 1 year and I can not do anything as I am always winded, tired, short of air. Play out very easy.

I’m dealing with phase 2-3 mold exposure. Repeated doctors visits for 4 months I pass every test thrown at me. I just discovered I was suffering from toxic mold exposure. Your video has helped me soo so much. I am starting the bone broth, herbal tea and green juice immediately and I have ordered the bentonite clay. If only I had come across your video sooner I would have suffered much less as my symptoms have been severe. Thank you!!

I've had multiple doctors tell me "it's all in your head"
1 even recommended I go talk to a therapist.. it was not in my head.
