Fun fact, as beastly and intimidating Nils might look when behind the drums, he used to be a personal assistant helping elderly and disabled and has said on tv he loved helping people and that it was the best job he could think of save from drumming wich is his biggest passion. There seems to be a very kind guy behind all that beastmode and black metal, contrary to what many people might judge him for on first glance.

Not really. He made a lot of mistakes, such as playing too fast (had to hold his horses for a split second to get into sync with the rest of the band), making strange breaks between the snare beat and filler chords, showing the drumstick right into the side of the tom tom drum etc. All though he is a good drummer and doing a fantastic job on other occasions! Beside anyone noticed he uses a mirrored drum set up? I find that kinda amusement as I use to do that myself back in the schooldays and everyone was like; "you can't have you drums like that, it's not the correct way..."

How about vacating the hole you live in and acknowledge that the men and women of Extreme Metal (and other genres) are disciplined, talented musicians that got there from working their asses off. Holy hell, dem blasts! Not only is he fasts, but he surprised me in his grove as well. Most black metal drummers have this..well, hackneyed sound, but some of this was very nice and fresh for the genre. Props.
it actually is a good representation of his abilities because he has extreme endurance and speed. and in interviews he has said that when he was young he wanted to be fast. sanctification is a good example of his other abilities too tho.

So Nils can't play the drums, Laureano can't, Schuldiner can't shred (yes ive actually seen this stinker of a brainfart!) and so on... cmon guys take a moment before slamming these guys. You have to remember Smith isn't exactly a speed demon. This guy is going at outrageous tempos. Obviously he's not destroying his kit like some dudes, but at the speed he's going he's hitting with a LOT of energy.
This recording is great because you can actually hear his toms clearly, although I would have liked if the kick drum would have shown up more in the mix. This guy is good.
I don't believe those are mistakes, the kick drums is almost inaudible and those gaps and silences you are hearing are double kicks in between fills, a better mix here and those gaps would make more sense.
