Good drumming bro ,I got to your speed and swivel technique in arms and legs n foot good strategy bro fosho I'm a amputee though now but relearning the double bass again wish me luck!!
I am here in 2024 and I’m still blown away by those single foot blasts. It’s so cool seeing this earlier video and now seeing the effect on the drumming world today, drummers like Eugene Ryabchenko and Ken Bedene using the same technique to this very day
I really like this video, hes a METAL DRUMMER and plays exactly what I want to hear, fast and heavy. And to all those youtube experts, that knows and listens better drummers, let the rest of the fans enjoy this guy and post possitive comments.
I remember an interview with Tom Araya when "Reign In Blood" was released and he said "10 songs in 28 minutes - we feel we've set the standard for a thrash album. If we made it any faster it would be stupidly fast and it wouldn't make any sense" I used to think Dave Lombardo was fast. This is on another level. I cant really get into the "extreme" speed stuff like Infant annihilator etc but I have to admire the stamina, technique, and work required to be able to deliver at this level.
Those scantish blasts that leads into his single foot technique, then finishing it off with a mirage of fills and a friggin full on blast beat assault!
Best i'ever seen, isn't enough! George you are the undisputed king! You make all us Greeks proud! The world is yours! Your fans from Crete will always be there for you!
same here. the amazing thing about these guys is that they can play absolutely everything convincingly, despite their ability to play faster and more brutal than anyone else they can control themselves and still have all the feel and groove needed. a lot of fast guitarists lack this ability.
the 86 people who didn't like this are just jealous as hell. You all gotta live with the dislike and the fact youll never be anywhere as good as him. Rock on Sir Kollias, you revolutionised and artform my friend.
have you ever understood that people (like myself) think george's drumming is boring? I've heard thousands of blasts. Thousands of single stroke tom rolls and skank beats. It takes a real drummer to interest another drummer. Think Dan Foord, or Blake Richardson, or Jay Postones. They have interesting content not shock value speed, the first words out of my mouth when i listen to good drummers is "wow that was interesting" not, "wow that was fast" Im not jealous of george, im jealous of all the drummers i mentioned.
did you even read your previous comment? youre saying everyone who doesent like george is jealous..im telling you that you are an idiot and you are wrong. I realize now that I am dealing with an idiot.
howycwap I think George is a grest drummer but as you have said I don't believe he uses as many tools as he could in his drumming. you should check out nick pierce or alex rudinger they have pretty interesting styles. also trey Williams and adam Jarvis and kevin talley they got that groove. although on some points I agree with your opinion I still respect this drummer. I also respect your opinion. im gonna check out those drummers you have listed. thankyou.
deicidaldemon Check out danny walker of intronaut as well, and travis orbin, who i think you may know if you like rudinger. and chason westmoreland who I think has the best extreme metal fills. and navene koperweiss who was the drummer of animosity and later animals as leaders. some great drummers who I think are extremely well versed in speed and actual interesting content. my definition of talented and versatile
1:44 I thought George was the best death metal drummer in the world. That part hit and then I KNEW he was. He just hits so hard and fast live that it boggles my mind! Hell of a human being!
It’s funny, in an interview George said he wasn’t happy with how the drums turned out on his solo album, he said they were good for complementing the songs but he didn’t get to go crazy like he originally wanted to. This makes me wonder how this song would sound if he played ambitiously instead of just following the songs with blasts and double bass. Hopefully one day he might release some covers of these songs where he plays what he originally wanted to do, that would be so sick
Thank you Mr. Kollias for your application to play in our band. Afraid we were looking for a little more talent and less slow motion drumming. Let us know when you attain supersonic speeds. [just kidding ... you're brutal]
Love that gradating ending starting from 4:44. First average speed blast, then hyper speed blast, and then bomb blast or what it is with second guitar coming in. Really nice. I wish if final bomb blast from 5:21 till the end was longer, without any disruption, accents, fills. Just pure blasting.
I am in total awe of this man( and Derek Roddy), well all speed drummers really. I could watch him all day. Its just amazing to watch them. Maybe if I was 30 years younger and had plenty of time to practice who knows?
My biggest regret is that Greece is unaware of a true talent like him! I have never seen anything about him in the Greek media! It's true that Greece eats its own children! In this case... a true master! I'm really so proud for you George!!!
I have a morbid sense of humor but I will say this. The hebrew word for Stone is eben, but they pronounce it as Auben. Which means father/son. "Why don't you turn these stones into bread?" Isn't Artos Greek for grain or flesh?
No Matt he is not so popular in Greece! I wish he was! But us Greeks we have a terrible sense of taste in music! Talents like George Kollias never get recognized as they should! Its sad!
I saw Mr.Kolias at a gig in Hannover, germany. All the time before i only watched his videos on youtube but since that gig I was realy impressed! I like the music, i here it while studing xD
You must be new to watching/listening to George Kollias :P Lookup the old Nile songs ^^ Like annihilation of the wicked or my alltime fav THE ESSENTIAL SALTSSS haha
Maybe he´s the fastest.....but why is "fast" the same as "good". There´s so much else you can do with a drumkit, wich drummers like him can´t do. Maybe he´s the best in this style.......
this guy is a proper death metal drummer ever heard of nile - you know, the pioneers of technical death metal? he's their drummer, brother, and one of the best out there
He has been to the Gate of Sethu and back, he has traveled on the spheres, he was walked in the pit. . . .he is the supreme human of megalomania he is, George Kollias. All other pussy drummers quiver in fear as he politely graces them with his presence.
mind blasting bhai!!!!!!!!!!!!!! totally mind blasting bhai we will not see such to come in now century by century wow, something of the wild tiger womb he is born !!!!!!!!!!!
This is very true, and I learned it the hard way. I have a pair of axis pedals but it took me years to get decent spead, stamina and tightness. I also bought and sold a ton of other brands of double pedals but in the end its just practice practice practice. Every pedal can get you a decent speed if you just put the time and effort in it.
I can appreciate the endurance and speed at which he plays but I got tired of him using the same rolls and just overall lack of variation throughout the song. It might just be the genre which i'm not really that into but I think Peter Wildoer and Dirk Verbeuren are just miles ahead of everyone else in terms of their creativity and finding ways to really get inside the groove. Just my opinion
I think you could actually. I mean, I could tell he was playing pretty much the same thing by ear so it would make sense that I should be able to hear anything he does differently. And still if what you say is true then wouldn't the speed be just limiting what you can do?
I admire his speed and skills but sonically I can't really enjoy his songs that much, it's just too much shit going on for me lol sounds more like a drum solo than an actual song imo
It is really good. Most metal drummers are VERY talented. Metal is second only to jazz in its musical difficulty. Not just in drums, but guitar, bass, and even vocals. Being a good meta musician is a lot harder than most other forms of music.
I love every bit of this. But I think the most impressive part is at 3:33 where the bass parts are right in the middle of slow and fast. That's the good stuff. But if I could take away from anything it would be that you can almost predict every fast fill he does on snare and the 10"/12" rack toms. But none the less, amazing either way!
Derek Roddy made a good comment on why all the fills in this genre of music are all generally the same. Just with the speed and intensity of these songs, there really isn't much else you can do in the way of fills. If you go from intense fast blast beats, the logical step is to do a fast tom fill. If you break the flow from the blast beats then try to throw in some kinda gospel/linear kinda fill, it breaks the flow of the song. Now when he slows it down and does like quarter note riding on a crash or china, it makes more sense to break the fills up a bit. That's all really. It's just to keep the flow of the song going
I hate when ppl say " o i quit" should inspire you to push yourself.. just because george is at this lvl believe me when i say u practice and devote urself u can be right there with him... no man is untouchable on an instrument
It has nothing whatsoever with being untouchable. Listen to what yr saying. Very few people ever rise to that level. Not everyone is even capable of it. Be realistic
@@Shayne_Mushin You absolutely can reach that skill level. George wasnt born that way lol. No musician is. Just as true now as it was over a decade ago. If ya have the drive and the time. But u are right in the regard of "not everyone is capable of it". And the reason is becuz they dont live eat and sleep drums the way george has. Skill is learned.
Left foot: " Hey right foot! Do you need any help?"
Right foot: "No man! I've got this..."
Hahahaha
Left foot: OK fine, I'll just mess around polyrhythmically with these clappy cymbal things then jump on those bass drum up notes when the time comes
XD
Any foto. Jajajajjaja
that's a strong, happy, and independent right foot
that one-foot blast is killing me..
i like how his left foot is just chilling there, laughing at us viewers and is just like "yeah i COULD help but i dont need too"
Thank you all for the quick and positive feedback!
-The rides are the HH Leopard Rides, 22" on the right side and 20" on the left.
-Yes, Erik Rutan is THE MAN!!! I am so looking forward to work with him again!
-This song is a few days old, i don't know what will change but still thought to share this video.

Thanks guys
Good drumming bro ,I got to your speed and swivel technique in arms and legs n foot good strategy bro fosho I'm a amputee though now but relearning the double bass again wish me luck!!
it's hard to deny George is a milestone of a drummer
Hard to deny, but definitely possible (for someone with an IQ of -5)
I am here in 2024 and I’m still blown away by those single foot blasts. It’s so cool seeing this earlier video and now seeing the effect on the drumming world today, drummers like Eugene Ryabchenko and Ken Bedene using the same technique to this very day

IA is a drum machine and trigger sensitivized to the gills so that doesnt count
Aquiles priester
Maiden, platos suisos parasite
Amorphis
Those scantish blasts that leads into his single foot technique, then finishing it off with a mirage of fills and a friggin full on blast beat assault!
Best i'ever seen, isn't enough! George you are the undisputed king! You make all us Greeks proud! The world is yours! Your fans from Crete will always be there for you!

The octopus is now jealous !
I'm now less than 48 hours away from seeing this guy perform live...CANT WAIT!!!
Idk about y’all, but this absolutely made my day.
NO!!! Don't quit! This is the kind of video that should make you try harder and better and faster and stronger! Go Kollias!
the 86 people who didn't like this are just jealous as hell. You all gotta live with the dislike and the fact youll never be anywhere as good as him. Rock on Sir Kollias, you revolutionised and artform my friend.

Acid Rain anyone would praise something half as good as these but george kollias standards...
legendary stuff
Thank you Mr. Kollias for your application to play in our band. Afraid we were looking for a little more talent and less slow motion drumming. Let us know when you attain supersonic speeds. [just kidding ... you're brutal]
Best double kick drummer in the world! Can't get over his style!
That guitar rift is fucking brutal!
'Tis indeed
indeed... 3:30 wtf

I wonder if Mr. Lars Ulrich ever heard of G. Kollias.
Dude.
Kollias > gold
ulrich < shit [See how I didnt even write his name in capitals?]
Kris Seghers
you compare two alot different styles.
So youre telling me Lars can beat Kollias? trololololo xD
Kris Seghers
no, you do not get the point. Ulrich and Kollias are two very different drummers, it's useless to compare both.
Kollias can play ulrichs stuff but not vice versa. nuff said.
Akárki akármit mond, George Kollias a világ egyik legjobb dobosa.
1:38 :O
many people need 9 feet to do that.He does it with 1
Single foot blast beat
*My fave Drummer and one of his best personal songs*
there's a tiger inside him
You are incredible, keep going friend!!! excellent technique. Greece for ever
Ridiculous bass part
zoom into foot
He's doing it with one foot

the best drummer in the world is greek!!!!
Maybe he´s the fastest.....but why is "fast" the same as "good". There´s so much else you can do with a drumkit, wich drummers like him can´t do. Maybe he´s the best in this style.......
No he's from Danmark and his name is Lars
Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool. I like your humour son and i am db drummer, too.
Κορίνθιος για την ακρίβεια
Eloy Casagrande
George, you are my blessing and my curse.
May the God's bless you.
hail kollias
this guy is a proper death metal drummer
ever heard of nile - you know, the pioneers of technical death metal? he's their drummer, brother, and one of the best out there
jesus christ on a stick, you do THOSE grind blasts with one foot
that

0:47 arghh!..my brain cant handle it!....i tried that once took me almost a year just to learn that small part :P
I can beer that here drum my hold
Good ol George, never fails to impress. He can easily keep up with all the greats, like Roddy,Hoglan,Reinert.
Fucking incredible
wow! what a drummer! That`s amazing. Very cool!
His once foot is faster then my two....
How can 49 people actually NOT like this...?!?
He is a God in drums!!!
When you sit down at your drumkit to try to play along you realize how big of a noob we are, this guy is insane
mamma mia...hail from italy george...always perfect and brilliant...
3.32 lets go tottal attack
He single foot and double bass is ridiculous fast. Best drummer!
wait... one more time
Simply the best.......
My favorite part is from 00:00 to 5:34
Fucking amazing, George =)

I agree with this to a degree.. but at the speeds he's playing, any other fill simply wouldn't or couldn't be distinguished I would imagine
I think you could actually. I mean, I could tell he was playing pretty much the same thing by ear so it would make sense that I should be able to hear anything he does differently. And still if what you say is true then wouldn't the speed be just limiting what you can do?
I think its just your taste in music mate, for a death metal drummer he has great variety in this piece
Don't think so! He is creative too within death metal's boundaries. It's another thing that this music is boring as hell, only Kollias saves it.
Yeah, I think I just find Kollias boring
Amazing that 3/4 foot step foot work is incredible you are one of the legendary gods of drums.
But...can you play War pigs?!?!?!?
he has a jazz band also so yes he can play war pigs also
Happy birthday George!!
hey are you really a HUMAN?
Dude, he's a Greek demigod and we all know it!
Love this song!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🤘🤘
Too much switching cammera angles ruins this video.
I still love his playing ❤❤
As much an amazing drummer he is, he always does the exact same snare-toms-snare-toms-whilekeepingtimewithbassdrum -fill, it gets boring.
Blast beat drumming is pretty repetitive mate
great drum kit for a great drummer.
I admire his speed and skills but sonically I can't really enjoy his songs that much, it's just too much shit going on for me lol sounds more like a drum solo than an actual song imo
Un monstruo de la percusión llamado George Kollias, simplemente MAESTRO!!
Muy pero muy de acuerdo contigo...si hay 93 dislikes sera por envidia o quizas amantes al reggeaton ....
George Kollias does a damn good job.!! 👍
Just by ear you can tell is Kollias the drummer, He has such a distinctive way to play.
Master Kollias. The man does it all.
a beast!!! not human!
I love his Vic Firth sticks!!! They're great for hard rock and metal!!!
just fantastic and unbelievable
I enjoy every single video!!
Well done George!! I'm looking forward to seeing all of your finished work!!

Absolutly incredible. I've never seen someone playing so fast. Thank you for this piece!
.
The roar of the bass at 1:16 relay get my adrenalin going!
GK is a great drummer of metal! Keep up the good work George!
The best drummer in the world!
very very good !
Awesome! Love it!!!
Them blast beats though. Wooooo!
you got that right, chuck! Im behind you
I love every bit of this. But I think the most impressive part is at 3:33 where the bass parts are right in the middle of slow and fast. That's the good stuff. Wesley Ostrander Sean reinert & gene hoglan saw your post and laughed like mad children.
Vaginaattori Yeahhhh those two are the beautiful exceptions haha
totally mesmerised
the best death metal drummer in my opinion
Digging those guitar tones. Well written, George.
he is not human!! hell yeah!
George's brutal BLAST BEAT !!!!!!!!!
Is the most beautiful snare i've heard before
its amazing what he can do with just one bass pedal...i mean, the single-pedal blast beats he does is just the epitomy of badass.
I hate when ppl say " o i quit" should inspire you to push yourself.. just because george is at this lvl believe me when i say u practice and devote urself u can be right there with him... no man is untouchable on an instrument

Tu velocidad es casi inalcanzable amigo, woooow.
I really liked the sound from the cymbals.
I love you George.
