If you don't know them yet, I recommend you to hear Finisterre from Der Weg einer Freiheit. Some of their tracks are like this, with some of the most awesome blastbeats you'll ever hear, and also extremely emotional stuff.
Only just discovered them but as soon as I heard them I knew they were an amazing band. Something refreshing and real about their sound. Definitely not surface level imitation that's for sure

6:40 to the end is the most impressive drumming I’ve ever seen. Snare stays absolutely steady through all the intricacies of the cymbals. Absolutely superhuman.
Darkside is arguably the most assertive black metal drummer on the scene. The perfect balance between the fact that he uses uncomplicated fills and spends many seconds without hitting a cymbal to let the guitar riffs and lyrics stand out & the amazing display of talent that he shows on the main part of the song without actually being abusive or overwhelmingly fast is something that you don´t easily find these days.

Darkside is the best drummer in the metal scene imo. The technical finesse is beyond words, he's not too assertive or overpowering, but when the drums kick in it's intense in the best way imaginable. 10/10 drummer.
Excellent excellent excellent stick work on that bell and ride cymbal. All while running 16ths on double bass. Look how he has to alternate hands to keep hitting the snare on 2 and 4 timing, switching up if the other hand isn't available. Also if only listening you'd think it was just the same hand on the snare, meaning that he is hitting the snare in the exact place with exact pressure with different hands---THIS IS NOT EASY AT ALL. His snare timing with either hand never lags or jumps the gun. This is excellent work.
Spoke to him before the concert in Manchester last night. Darkside IS ambidextrous. He is also very humble and doesn't think he is particularly good. Thinks their are much better drummers than him. An amazing person and a even more amazing drummers. Also darkside has written some of the more famous riffs too :)
Darkside is such an underrated drummer. Hes a machine with his creativity and flawless style he brings to melodic black metal. MGŁA is a top tier band.
They were one of the opening bands for Obituary concert is n Detroit....they blew me away!!!.What a great experience to discover a band like mgla!!! Been hooked since and can say they my favorite band now.... opened my ears to black metal...and I'm at a loss for words on how amazing the drummer is

This is so fucking satisfying to watch. The song itself is one of the most iconic of Mgla, but this video provides so much more insight into how intricate the song is, solely based on drum work. What a great piece of musical art. I'm glad it was captured for all the world to be able to see. Black metal reigns supreme. The cymbal work is top notch and sets a standard for drummers of metal to aspire to.

I just started learning drums about a year ago, and never knew how intricate and complex metal drumming was. Now I’m hooked, and need to get an electronic set as well. Just too loud to do on my acoustic set.
This song alone has just made me become a massive fan of this band. Never given them much or a try before but now I can't get enough. Drummer is simply amazing and what a fookin' track.

Had the pleasure of seeing these guys live in San Diego a couple years ago - one of the best shows Ive ever been to.
Maybe in August 2022? I was there. I worked with him as a drum technician. He is one of the best drummers. And a great person. It was a big pleasure.

This is so fucking satisfying to watch. The song itself is one of the most iconic of Mgla, but this video provides so much more insight into how intricate the song is, solely based on drum work. What a great piece of musical art. I'm glad it was captured for all the world to be able to see. Black metal reigns supreme. The cymbal work is top notch and sets a standard for drummers of metal to aspire to.
Right. This was the last song of the show, that's why Darkside stood up and bowed for a second. Last song of the show, he didn't miss a beat. A phenomenon!

The drumming is phenomenal nothing short of it, how hes able to switch hands hitting the snare and keep time, shows so much skill and to make it sound amazing, a band i need to see to add to the many ive seen.
You guys think he's the master of cymbals but he's really the master of the backbeat. Pay attention to the snare during all the craziness. Never misses it once.
One of the 3 best drummers in the world hands down! Although he was a bit late in the beginning but Damn he's at another level!!

I like how he does a lot of "double bass" parts with a single foot, but with so much tightness.

I just started learning drums about a year ago, and never knew how intricate and complex metal drumming was. Now I’m hooked, and need to get an electronic set as well. Just too loud to do on my acoustic set.

This song alone has just made me become a massive fan of this band. Never given them much or a try before but now I can't get enough. Drummer is simply amazing and what a fookin' track.

3:01 I think what's most impressive and that I didn't even originally notice is that he alternates hands on snare hits while doing all that fast cymbal work. Awesome technique to keep the beat.
