Fun fact about Giant Squids. Their meat is toxic to humans becouse it contains to much ammonia. So yes the dungeon Meshi is wright "Kraken meat does taste like shit"
Read the manga till the end sometime ago and i was sad that the story and journey ended but now its nice to finally see Dungeon Meshi animated and follow up the journey again. Such a delight to watch. Although watching this anime on empty stomach is torture 😄
I followed the manga as it came out for about 7 years, seeing it get animated now is amazing, and its a joy to see more and more people enyoing this story. And now, the second half is about to get weird! Can't wait to see the reactions.
You may hate the english name, but I like the name Delicious in Dungeon simply because it's such a simple but clever wordplay. Delicious in Dungeon. D in D. DnD.
The dub is great. I usually don't watch dubs, with a few exceptions, but I saw a lot of the japanese commentors praising the dub for this. Like Laios being more "unstable" and Senshi's voice sounding more accurate for a dwarf.
@@solitaryenjoyer411 translate the japanese comments in dub comparison videos. Its pretty amusing. westerners are always bothered by minimal changes, but the japanese seem to enjoy seeing the "national identities shine though" in the dubs. Also, comments like "the western vas re becoming more competitive" are probably a good sign. While marcille is the highlight of the japanese dub, laios and senshi are their favs in the eng dub. Its nice. Edit: Also english falin. They're really praising her a lot in the new episodes
I think you're being too quick on judging this story haha I see you using clips from the latest episode, let me tell you, the series gets a lot more interesting after the Dragon, not that far off from Golden Kamui. Check the intro and ask yourself, how many of the characters teased do you recognize? The dungeon food was the bait, the real story gets a whole lot messy A whole lot meshi
I'd prefer to review anime after its done, but unfortunately as a small channel you can kiss goodbye to your views if you do that, unless you review super popular anime
10:45 I'm someone who loves trying new things, and I really hope this show might convince some people to get out of their comfort zones too. I've also seen quite a few posts about people who used to just put off eating due to various reasons (low motivation, limited pantry) having an imaginary senshi talk in their heads about the importance of eating and what to eat lol. Some personal anecdotes: A friend of mine introduced me to Lengua (cow tongue) tacos his family makes, and they're probably my favorite kind of taco. That same friend also said he wanted to take me to try fugu, and I pointed out a place that sells camel milk we still need to try. He said he wouldn't try it unless my husband did, then chickened out and said only if my picky eater friend would. Jokes on him, she likes milk so she probably would be down.
One of my favorite foods is the Filipino dish dinuguan, a salty, spicy, and slightly sour stew made with pork blood. While the sound of it may be off-putting, it's absolutely delicious and worth trying!
"Grounded" works for what you mean rather than "realistic". As you struggled with, "realistic" usually has the connotations of "appearing like reality", but "grounded" is more about things making sense.
Part of the reason I like laios so much is BECAUSE he's offputting and his priorities sometimes seem warped. He is, possibly intentionally given one of the author's previous stories, autistic! He's extremely knowledgeable in the thing he's into, but finds it pretty hard it engage in non monster related stuff. His phrasing and mannerisms lead to some of the other characters really hating him (namely shuro, the Manga has a scene where he berates laios and says how much he'd always hated him, it's one that really hits for autistic ppl cause it's an unfortunately common thing to happen. how dare you miss my unspoken invisible cues that I never liked you) autistic laios I'd destroy everything for you
I look away for 2 seconds and come back to be met with dong necklaces. 😅 It'll be fun to see how you react to the second half of the story 😜 its well worth it
the fish people are two different species! also, echoing half the other comments, it gets a lot darker after the dragon! ALSO!!! you get dwarf fanservice! and no other such fanservice tbh. which in my mind is a +
I don't get why you would hate the name "Delicious in Dungeon" it is a reference to Dungeons and Dragons and is actually the original title of the Manga, not a weird stretch translation
I think this undersells that the unique thing with the monsters isn't the types (i.e. they're all well known creatures) but how the creatures function. Living armour isn't unique, sure, but a mollusk that secretes iron to create a suit of armor as a shell? Now that *is* unique.
The English dub is not great, the voices just don't sound right. So definitely watch the japanese subtitled version since the voices perfectly match the characters 💯

Well why watch it on an empty stomach then?
I recommend the adventure bibles! They have extra chapters, and some of them are post ending :)

Delicious in Dungeon.
D in D.
DnD.
There's a monster guidebook aside of the manga itself, with some creativity you could probably homebrew your own DinD adventure... xD
I prefer Dungeon & Deli; maybe Dungeon & Diner.

I think it lacks of pun.
Yeah really wish they had translated that as "Dungeon Gourmet" or something. Granted, the DnD pun is decent.
