in my weird kid head i always thought it worked so perfectly because i thought that initial makeshift guitar strumming was meant to emulate the sound of their wings when they’re in flight if it sounded like music
David Wise realy know how to set an ambient song the sampling made inside that game are incredible ! You can almost feel the smell of the honey or other stuff .
Lol yup! Parrot-Chute Panic was the most mellow of the bunch though. And then...King Z. Sting against, slow, clunky little Squawks. X( Ugh. That boss was so awful.
Such a good song. Very serious sounding, yet melancholy. Tough levels but they were fun challenges. We all had fun with these games. Sure miss those days. Dixie was good for these levels because she could glide to those far away walls with honey on them. Takes a finger full of honey and eats it. 😊
Since I played Donkey Kong Country as a kid I have lots of memories of how scary the enemies were and such, and the ambient music creeped me out. Just now playing through DKC2 and the music is absolutely amazing, this song is definitely my favorite one. Just great how menacing it is and then the melody(?) of the song breaks through.
I always found this song to be also a great fit for a more intense lava level especially at 1:01 but this song is perfect for seeing a bee or wasp in real life.
Good music can make "bad" / difficult levels much more bearable. I saw a LP where the two players spent the longer half of an hour on the second brambles level (Bramble Scramble?) mostly because of stupid mistakes during the flying sections.
This was in my literal nightmares as a kid, i was so scared of getting the game over screen to where i would reset the console right before i ever saw the screen. I had to do that a lot during these levels : /
0:07 how has anyone not noticed this bit is basically “In the air tonight” by Phil Collins. You hear a lot of Phil Collins influences in this game which I LOVE.
All I can think of when I hear this song is how painful it was to move around through the honey with my controllers damaged d pad.. likely caused by kids abusing the remote..
@@bezoticallyyours83 It's the common video game level style, with the fleshy walls and feeling of being inside a living creature. If you've played long enough, you've come across those.

Good stuff
*handfull of honey.. licky licky* Hmm.. not bad. But we got a job to do!!! Lol
I don't know why this music makes sense in beehives, but it just does. The atmosphere the music creates in this game is awesome!
It's sounds perfect for a home invasion song (which is basically happening).
the string plucking noise is something we would hear in most bug documentaries

I swear Rareware was a god at music, props to David Wise and Grant Kirkhope.

rare always had a talent to put the player totally in the right mood with the songs.
For all of my life I hated those freaking Zingers. Then I realized they had their own LEVELS.

@@bezoticallyyours83 Honestly, sprinting with squawks makes the fight suprisingly easy, the boss really cant catch you.
Exactly! I was like noooooo 😂😂
I hear the zingers swarming. I also hear them dying by barrel toss
Thank goodness fit Squitter
Whenever I hear a Zinger die in DKC with my headphones on, I just can't help but sneak a chuckle.
A clear reference to Flight of the Bumblebee by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov
One of the best pieces from the DKC2 soundtrack in my opinion
The melody is sick. Wise and Uematsu were the best at making legitimately great music on midi.

This song just reminds me of how sad me and my sister would get cause of the scared little bees in the background 😢
Almost KILLER INSTINCT sounds
Quando eu escuto so penso em mel😊.
Esta melodia es pegajosa

Just as well this track is as good as it is, because I found myself hearing it A LOT during my most recent attempt at a playthrough of the game.

***** For an old console (and my personal favorite) it was able to look a bit 3d in certain games and the music was great!
