    Glad to have this reaction back. Don't worry too much about the slow start, that was how the show itself started slow at first but interesting but it picks up speed as the overall story starts to evolve. We the Farscape fans will hang in for the reactions just like we did for the show.

    An underrated little episode that the fanbase often forgets about but it's actually rather important for the overall story arc. I think it's a little gem even if it comes after the very popular DNA Mad Scientist.

    Great reaction. Good introduction into D'Argo back story. The Moya story line is just beginning.

    The movie you're thinking is the miniseries made after the end of the show. It'll be required viewing to finish your reaction series, but you wont need us to tell you that once you get there. What happened to Farscape is a common story: a semi-popular, cultish scifi series that networks don't know what to do with or feel is stepping on the toes of more profitable series, so it gets canceled. Everyone involved feels a bit blindsided with the sudden announcement coming out of the blue, so things are left hanging. Fans clamor for it to have a (new) new home and get restarted. After a few false starts, enough interest exists to give the series a proper send off. Sometimes that send off is a final movie, other times it's a miniseries.

    Glad the Farscape reactions are back, Ray. Love this episode. Pretty important in the grand scheme of things. We’re gonna have a baby!!! 😄 And Anthony Simcoe is awesome in this episode! Was heartbreaking to learn his past.

    Glad to see you back at it, Ray! This is a great episode to dive back into because, as you noted, it's super emotional but also offers a lot of extra narrative threads to follow - where's D'argo's son, what happened to his brother-in-law Macton, why was Moya being prevented from becoming pregnant?
    I will note that your sort of flippancy about John's story during the course of the show to date comes across as "whatever" is largely because at least in this part of the series he's kind of just our surrogate in the Farscape universe, providing a human perspective to all the alien weirdness - but mark my words, John's story does eventually become much more central to the over-arching plot of the series in due course. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, though, is largely left to personal interpretation.

    Re: How long was D'Argo locked up for? Back in an earlier episode (Back and Back and Back to the Future*) he said 8 cycles/years.
    *possibly even the premiere, to Crichton

    This one gives some MUCH needed context at this time and makes you a lot more sympathetic to Dargo.
    Best part of the show is how complex the characters are later on while they seem very 2D at the start...

    You and @funnylilgalreacts should colab on Farscape viewing via remote. You are so close to one another in where you are in the first season.

    Anthony Simcoe managed to build an extremely interesting and memorable character, despite tons of makeup and prosthetics on himself. the man was simply born for the role.

    • @roystoyscomics1361
      @roystoyscomics1361 27 дней назад

      Yeah poor Anthony had to come in like four hours early to report to makeup. He often wore boxer shorts on his lower half while they went about adding his headpiece, beard tentacles, nose, eyebrows as well as his chest area. 😂

    Sebacean is the race, Peacekeepers are kinda like the Empire from Star Wars. The ruling government and military and are all Sebaceans....
    D'Argo is a Luxan, a warrior species a little like Klingons, except they are actually honourable and surviving in space for a short time is a trait of his species.

      Speaking of, are the DRDs the equivalent of the SW mouse droids?

    • @NZBigfoot
      @NZBigfoot 28 дней назад

      @@zvimur DRDs are basically the leukocytes of Moyas Body, although they also do alot more than defend her since they also act like platelets in the blood for repair, transport and maintenance etc They are the mechanical aspect of her systems for her mechanical parts, since her biological parts work like biological systems and have their own ways.

    • @davidb1565
      @davidb1565 27 дней назад

      @zvimur not exacrly sure what the mouse droids do, I want to say message and data couriers. I have no idea where I've got that from, though. DRDs do way more. Like astromechs with guns. In fact I'd say they're like most of the Star Wars droids rolled into one. Can even supply translation microbes....sorry Threepio.

    Oh you want a horror movie about a ship trying to kill the crew.
    Its called "Event Horizon" a 1997 by Paul W.S. Anderson and its a very very good horror film.

    Farscape is campy (you've seen nothing yet) its part of its charm, and it takes that campiness in both hands and often runs with it... its what makes Farscape Farscape and not just another dry stereotypical sci-fi.
    Another thing with Farscape is, just like Babylon 5, its very un bottled... and much like B5's first season, alot of the Farscapes first season is world building and character but like B5 it quickly starts to become very inter connected... i often think of most of season one as a litmus test, if you get through it, you'll be there till the end no questions asked.

    May I suggest that you react to EVENT HORIZON (1997)? Great sci-fi/horror flick. Well, maybe not great but decent enough.

    I Love Babylon 5 and Farscape is right behind it as 1a &1b. Yes Farscape does start slowly but unlike B5 which unfortunately has a weak final season. Farscape Gets better and better throughout

    D.R.D.s Diagnostic Repair Drones are Moya's programmed servitors to help repair and maintain Moya's systems. 😅
    Macton is the brother of Lo' laan Tal, both of whom are Sebacean. He disapproved of D'argo because of his being another species, a Luxan. Sebaceans are big on racial purity.
    "I'm sorry John...I can't let you do that...!". - Moya-9000™
    So Sebaceans are the species. Peacekeepers are a military organization consisting exclusively of Sebaceans. All Peacekeepers are Sebaceans. Not all Sebaceans are Peacekeepers. 😅
    Not a chastity belt...more like an I.U.D. birth control device. 😂
    How many D.R.D.s are there aboard Moya? As many as the plot requires. Lol. 😁
    Farscape ran for four seasons. By the end of season four you should have a pretty good grasp on things. The fourth season did end on a cliffhanger and was cancelled. There was enough of an outcry to do a two part four hour miniseries (The Peacekeeper Wars) to wrap up the storyline. Much like Firefly got the Serenity movie. 😁

    yes there was a movie to tie things up as the show was cancelled. ☹
