Man, the nostalgia feels just hit me hard. Going to Blockbuster as a kid on a Friday night and choosing an NES game for the weekend and a movie was amazing.
Blockbuster Video quite! The more I come back to 90s/early 2000s related media the more I absolutely abhor the current state of today’s... just about, everything, about, everything in every way. I could care infinitely less about the advances we’ve made. I just know that during that time period, the world was truly so magical that EVEN COMMERCIALS radiated with that exact same energy. Evil was a hell of a lot less present in every way. We were all closer to one another. Now with all the advances we’ve made, we’ve become miserably more and more isolated with every single year. The very last drop of that magic had died in 2009, and I felt it. I knew in my heart that things were only just getting started.
I work at a Lowe’s, and the other night, after we closed. I went to the back and for some inexplicable reason the truck with the nights freight smelled exactly like blockbuster. The amount of nostalgia that hit me in that exact moment… I can’t even begin to tell you… I’m a grown man and I almost cried

So many memories that can never be recaptured today. I remember many a friday going into blockbuster to rent a game for the weekend while my parents picked a movie.
There might be a Blockbuster Video store in the state of Oregon and it's the ONLY store in the entire world. But Blockbuster Video will always be legendary. I sure had lots of good memories
It's in Bend. A city near the center of the state. It's exact address is 211 NE Revere Ave, Bend, OR 97701 That store is now a tourist attraction, and they get fan mail and visitors from all over the world. And people still actually rent DVDS and Blu Rays from it there locally.

I worked at a Blockbuster when I was a teen, as did my cousin. I still keep my Seattle Blockbuster Video card in my wallet for nostalgic sakes! I still have and possess the original Mario Party 3 cartridge for Nintendo 64 inside the original Blockbuster case. Never took it back, they never called, they went out of business soon after and I kept a piece of history.
I've decided to make a Blockbusters Video store isle in my bedroom; I'm talking yellow paint, all my DVDS Blu Rays and VHS Tapes on shelves including movie posters everywhere and an actual BLOCKBUSTERS signs 😊
The Blockbuster around the corner got converted into a T-Mobile store. I'm happy that at least the building itself still exists -- driving by it always gives me feelings of nostalgia.
Good ol 90s. Waking into Blockbuster on a Friday night, I can still remember the smell of plastic from all the cartridges..lol and the popcorn. And then sitting down watching the intro to the movie with the Universal studios intro... priceless.

I'm glad I was born early enough to be able to experience video rentals. 2000's kid here so I didn't rent NES games but rather GameCube and PS2 games (which some handheld thrown in there) which was the last generation before the internet and digital started to take over physical media.
What an amazing lookback of these amazing memories of our beloved Video Rental store, its a darn shame I still miss Blockbuster Video in today's world...

I remember renting games at Blockbuster Video. I also had one of those unlimited rental passes a couple times and i would go to my local Blockbuster every day to pick up a game. Since I had more than one console later on, now I had access to other games. Talk about "wow, what a difference!"

The one in AK closed back in 2014 (I think) So, yeah.... It is what it is! Also it was Converted as an Airbnb Space during the Pandemic for 2 years and trust me the amount of Staying Request is up the Roof. Even RedBox and NetFlix didn't have this much attention! Yeah, I miss those days too, Even though One of my Bucket List is Visit the One and Final Blockbuster on Planet Earth in Bend, Oregon! This is why Oregon is worth visiting this.... MAIN REASON!!

The blockbuster near me was really cool because it had a giant blockbuster sign/ticket on the building. It has dark blue carpet with stars and film tape on it. All the tape containers were empty until you went to the counter to rent them. If you didn't rewind, they charged you! And my sister and I would fight over who got to put the tape in the return drop box!
I was born November 1999 so I barely got to experience this, but I had one close to my home (it's appearently a five guys and a beauty store now) but I just remember visiting that store and all the Gameboy games and movies... I miss those days

Say what you want about Blockbuster, but besides the Netflix originals, Blockbuster had a much better selection than Netflix.

The blockbuster near me was really cool because it had a giant blockbuster sign/ticket on the building. It has dark blue carpet with stars and film tape on it. All the tape containers were empty until you went to the counter to rent them. If you didn't rewind, they charged you! And my sister and I would fight over who got to put the tape in the return drop box!
Remember going to blockbuster in 2005 with my step brother.
Those were the good days.
Friday nights for me were renting an N64 game and movie, then stopping for pizza on the way home
Wished they didn't get rid of Blockbusters even if they are broke or just new Era.
I was born November 1999 so I barely got to experience this, but I had one close to my home (it's appearently a five guys and a beauty store now) but I just remember visiting that store and all the Gameboy games and movies... I miss those days
