great job dave
impressive Dave.
Keep the great work coming.
Thanks, will do!
Fantastic fabrication Dave. Nice one
Many thanks!
Nice bracket, id have been inclined to weld the studs into the car floor and bolted from underneath, that way if you ever had to remove you wouldnt need to access under the carpet to get at the nuts.
Proper job cheers
Looks like a factory fit Dave, nice work.
Thanks Alan 😊
Great job m8, plus nice new look dave 😊😊
Thanks 😁
Great bit of fabrication..car really coming on cant wait to see it finished, keep up the great work dave love your channel ❤
Thanks 👍
smart job, looks strong enough to me
Just sitting here in New Zealand contemplating Australia v Wales Rugby World Cup match and i suddenly thought,I'd rather watch an episode of Daves Garage. I hope you're working hard on one👍😜
😊😊😉
Well done Dave that bracket is a work of art
Thanks 😊
Thank Dave that was really really good I learned a lot about what is possible , thanks for showing us all that .
Glad you enjoyed it
Brilliant job , the floor pan strength maybe a concern
I'm hoping the double lip and the edge of the tunnel give the support, but time will tell
That looks cool, nice and simple.
If it does ever bend weld a lip around the outside edge and you can taper it as it goes towards the floor.
Cool idea
Good morning the gas man working in his garage 😊 That was a great bit of fabrication with a fantastic end result on the gear box mount 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
That worked out nicely.
Looks good and solid.
Those bmw bushes look like a good option for that kinda thing
Darn sight simpler than a standard MGB gearbox mount!
Nice fab Dave should do the job spot on💯👌👍
Thanks Sid 😊😊
Great work Dave ! She’s getting there 😊 and the haircut looks sharp 👌
Thanks 👍😊😊
Looks like a proper factory part that!!! Super job❤
That looks spot on Dave, job well done 👍🏻
That bracket is strong enough to hold a house on ! Very overkill , maybe bigger plate washers on the floor just to be safe
👍
Very impressive job there. Certainly not your first day out 😊
Back in the 90s we did a similar type conversion putting a ford 3litre essex into a mk1 escort and eventually you could see the metal stress out with a type 9 gearbox ...eventually we have to run a brace from the sills to the gearbox tunnel using 40mm channel ...that held up failry well and kept the gearbox and propshafy from flexing to a minimum...just my expierence
Thanks 😊
Nice one Dave!
Cool design Dave looks really nice and I’m sure that’ll be more than strong enough as the engine mounting is taking a lot of the load 👌👍
We shall see😋
Nice job Dave, looks a lot better than the old stand by, a inch and a half pipe flattened and drilled to mate up, 😂
🤣
Nice gearbox support Dave ,The inspection pit was great idea they were really popular back in the 60s /70s I couldn't be without mine very handy for working under cars
Me too, I don't use it that often, but is brilliant when I need it
Well done
job well done very neat and tidy
Lovely little pit you have there, I’ve seen the boards before & wondered. What other gems have you got tooked away?
Box mount looks great should be plenty strong enough Dave especially if you’d be using a one peace propshaft.
Brilliant video as all ways
Can't believe the Corsa engine made an appearance 😂 1.4 8v to 1.4 16v.... Was well worth the effort 😂
I know!! I use it as a step up out of the pit 🤣🤣
@DavesGarageuk still useful then 😂
Nice work Dave looks the part as you said you may need to weld a gusset if needed but in theory looks and seems to hold great again nice work fella
Thanks 👍
Looks good Dave , possibly a wedge shaped gusset either side following the curve of the tunnel
I think your bracket is more than enough if you look at the tin it is bolted into I’m sure if you bend the bracket you will be re welding the floor…
Thanks 👍
nice tidy job Dave, you say you used 6mm plate but in the video it looks more like 8mm ?.
Yep 6mm, funny how stuff looks bigger on screen
Nice fab work as always, looks plenty strong enough.
I would have put a spreader plate/countersunk bolt interior side so all four bolts are accessible from the underside and looks a lot neater as you've not got the thread protruding into the cabin.
I did think of that, but I think it's easier to fit up this way, I'll cut off the protruding bolt, and by the time I fit sound deadening and carpet it'll dissappear, I hope 😋
@@DavesGarageuk Assumed you'd have considered it but had your reasons for this way.
The nuts won't be very accessible if they're under carpet and sound deadening...
Awesome work Dave, looks really good. Functional, practical, a pleasing on the eye. As you said at the end if need be add some oblong washers or just a flat or moulded plate to hold it. Bummer we can't do that in NZ, as it wouldn't get passed our Warrant or LVVTA standards..
Only a matter of time before the authorities stiffen up on modified cars here too I reckon
First view! Very fortunate timing...
Hi nice gearbox bracket, but would have been better with the bolts going through the body, going the other way head of bolt inside the car, the way you have done it, to take the gearbox out you have to get inside the car to undo them
Ha, well done, give yourself a gold star 🌟
Lovely job dave how do you work out the angle of the prop so it don't vibrate?
Angle finder on the back of the gearbox, same angle on the diff flange, as long as they are the same or very close, all should be good.
dave did you build your garage then dig the pit out ?? i’m yet to build my garage and need a pit doing not sure we’re to start 👍
Dug the pit out same time as I built the garage, if you do dig out a pit, be sure to use a good quality damp proof membrane to keep out the water.
Hi where do you get your cutting disks for your dremel and what make are they the one's I'm finding are useless and just snap. Thanks mark
Hi Mark, they are www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153610826736?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=STZoaCotS-e&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=v5ZLVAlZQYe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY you'll need an adaptor for them too, not cheap, but do work very well
Are you having carpet in the car? I wouldn't want to have to remove the carpet to get that bracket off
I am, I hadn't considered that tbh
@@DavesGarageuk that's exactly why the comment section is here 👍
What thickness plate did you use dave?
6mm
@@DavesGarageuk thanks pal 👍
Sorry Dave!! Episode 63: 5minutes 34seconds in.
