Dave that was absolutely amazing 🤩
Fantastic job Dave. Nice tip on finding hole centres mate didn’t know that! O ring made sense before rtv
Great work & love the buffed up g/box case👏🏻👏🏻
Thank Mick
Clever stuff 👍🏻
Dave I really appreciate the way that you show us all the little things that go wrong as well as right. It helps us to put ourselves completely in your shoes, and makes this particular channel very honest and realistic. Much appreciated and very enjoyable! 👍
Thanks Phil
Brilliant job dave, but it would have been easier with ur beer cardboard as template lol 😆 😀
True
Absolute genius 👏
First class Dave, love watching your videos, I'm learning so much, lovely to see how you get around problems, look forward to seeing your next video.
Thanks Alan, looking forward to seeing your project.
@@DavesGarageuk Hi Dave your more than welcome to see it anytime.
Nice work Dave another job done ! do think a cable tie or jubilee clip would hold the ‘o’ ring in place !?
Great job, that was a very interesting video and one I had been looking forward to seeing.
Thank you 😊
gonna be gutted when this cars done, love anything pre 200 fords
Nice work Dave! Being a Dave also and having a few birthdays like yourself. I would recommend a half sheet of plywood to kneel on as you work. It also saves the fine floor paint of the workshop lol! And saves any chance of marring the face of the stuff your dragging around.
Too true
Excellent job Dave worked out well in the end 👏👏👍
Great work Dave
You had me worried on this on Dave mate, really nice job in the end though.
Not in the car yet 😉, there still may be a very good reason why no-one else is using these boxes in mk1 Escorts 🤔
A few good tips there,on your road of discovery.
great job dave
Dave you are a genius can you tell me what is the best hole saw cutter for metalI am cutting 2mm thick plate I have some hole cutters that are supposed to cut plaster boards and metal but they only scores the metal it doesn’t actually cut
Starrett bi-metalic hole saw, expensive, but they work. Oil too.
Thanks for your reply Dave
Brilliant Dave, you have a very natural way of explaining your thought processes while undertaking these engineering tasks, including the dead ends you come upon and the solutions you discover. Makes for great viewing. Two thumbs up from this guy!
Cheers Ross, appreciate that 😊
I tend to use a short arm wrench when torquing into aluminium (working mainly on motorbikes) You can easy underestimate your own strength otherwise!
I've been looking at torque wrenches for bikes as it happens
👍
Dave, thank you for great content as always. What is the measurement from the gearstick to the front of the bellhousing (where your new plate goes) now that the gearstick has been moved please?
Just about 28 inches
Tip: Dave, (if you ever have Fray Bentos oven pies in the metal dishes) I always save the dishes afterwards and they come in handy for keeping all you nuts bolts and springs in one place for each project. (I normally write the name on a piece of walking tape and stick it on the inside of the dish)…
Good tip, I'll have to start eating them 🤣
Amazing clever workmanship Dave , way over the top of my stupid head but very impressive to watch you doing it mate 👍
Thanks pal 😊😊
Many talents Dave, nice work. Gearboxes frighten me no end but that looks easy peazy.. I've got a Toyota 86 6sp which needs the stick moving forward 5in , planning to mate it up to a k24 Honda motor in mk1 Escort
That'll be a nice combo 👌
Hi Dave, what age / model mx5 if that box from?
Mk1 age unknown, but I'd guess an early one. 1.6 or 1.8 same box different clutch
@@DavesGarageuk Thanks. All the ones on ebay seem to have a different gear lever mechanism that looks like it would be harder to shorten
