- On the women’s European cycling tour in the Netherlands, a competitor was struck down by a spectator just before the finish line. The cyclist fell off her bike and rolled her way to the finish line. Despite a freshly broken collarbone, she managed to finish the race. CBSN’s Michelle Miller and Elaine Quijano have more on the painful collision.

I always keep on hearing about stuff like this happening somebody interfering or somebody throwing spikes on the ground why aren't the cyclists or their team members nearby not allowed to walk around with a hammer or an ice pick?
pro cycling is possibly the only sport where the fans are allowed on the " playing field " as in the ROAD. in all other sports where there is a field/pitch /court etc a fan would be arrested for even stepping on the field , but in pro cycling g these idiots run out onto the road screaming at the riders and often blocking their way . WHY is this tolerated ?
I love Cycling. Adore it actually, and even though I am unable to do so myself anymore, a friend now races for one of the biggest teams so I get to live it vicariously thru him now. But yeah, I gotta say I find it insane how bad things get at times - and the UCi continue to do little to nothing about it.
While I understand that every piece of road can’t be cleared or cordoned-off to keep both Riders and the Public safe, they can send Motorbike squads ahead of the Peloton to remind people to stay back from the edge of the road, to respect the Riders, and that fines and possible jail time is in the offing if these simple rules of respect and common sense aren’t followed.
I don't know why, maybe a lack of police, but I know it's why I don't pro cycle.

Spectator's arm hit that brake lever and if their left lever was for the front brake its easy to see why she flipped over the handlebars. Just my amateur detective skills here but that looked like a battery charge here in the states. Not sure how it would be handled in the NL...
