  • In order to clean the world's 1000 most polluting rivers, we built the Interceptor. The second of these Interceptors is deployed on the river Klang, Malaysia. Subscribe to our channel: bit.ly/371k8sN
    --
    To rid the oceans of plastic, we need to not only clean up what is already out there, but also stop new plastic from entering the ocean: we need to close the tap.
    Rivers are the main source of ocean plastic pollution. They are the arteries that carry waste from land to the ocean. Our research found that 1000 rivers are responsible for roughly 80% of the pollution.
    Working together with government leaders and private corporations, our goal is to tackle these 1000 most polluting rivers, all over the world, by 2025. How? By deploying Interceptors.
    The Interceptor is The Ocean Cleanup’s answer for river plastic waste. It is the first scalable solution to prevent plastic from entering the world’s oceans from rivers.

Once the people in these slums will be relocated, its 100% guaranteed that these parts of the river will be cleaned... Main reason why Pasig River won its Riverprize Award yr 2018 and that also because of the massive rehabilition efforts of the volunteers...

      @@anonymousstout4759 here we are talking of breaking coconuts. There is difference. Breaking coconuts in general before starting a good work is considered auspicious. It is an Asian tradition. There is no champagne involved. Yes, ofcourse in the manner of breaking of coconut here in the video resembles breaking a bottle of champagne. Traditionally it is done on the ground. It has been carried for centuries or millienia. Again nothing to do with champagne. Cöconuts grows on trees champagne does not....
      "Before starting a good work, people in the temples break coconut. The coconut is offered to Lord Ganesha and then it is distributed as a Prasad. ... Breaking coconuts means breaking your Ego. Recycling plastic technology is not efficient yet, the goal is to make sure plastic doesn't reach the ocean, burning plastic might be the best solution we have for now since recycling plastic is a very energy demanding, costly and complicated process that require specific infrastructures that the country with interceptors deployed won't have.

    • @KryssLaBryn
      @KryssLaBryn 4 года назад

      The really sad thing is that a lot of the plastic waste in Indonesia (and probably other places around there) *was* recycled. CBC's "Marketplace" recently had a show that looked into it. Us Canadians have been carefully separating our plastics and putting them out to be recycled; our towns' garbage collectors have been taking it down to our recycling depots to be collected; and recycling companies have been picking up the plastic to be recycled-- and fucking shipping it to be dumped in Indonesia, instead of recycling it!! >:(
      Ends up that not all plastics *can* be recycled, and it's an expensive process anyways, even for the ones that can, so these assholes (not all of them, but enough of the bastards--and even one is too much), instead of doing the job *they were contracted to do* have been just going, "Meh, cheaper to just ship it across the world and make it their problem." Fucking *assholes!!*
      Every company that does this ought to be fined *big* time, and those fines used to pay to clean our trash up again, by financing these things and anything else that will help.
      Fucking bastards. We *did* gather it up for recycling. *We* did our part, and thought we were doing the right thing! And these assholes just said "Thank you very much," and fucking threw it out. And not even here! They had to go and dump it on some other poor country to deal with.
      Fuck, it enrages me. Glad to see these things can help clean it up again!!
