That rear roof seem is down low like that so the same body shell could accommodate being a coupe or a convertible without having to produce a third dedicated shell (1st being coupe 2nd being the fastback). Having restored one of these cars myself - based on what I'm seeing after blasting you got a dream foundation to start with.

3:28 For future reference, rotors and drums slide quite well on 2 x 6 lumber. I've seen many tow trucks drag a vehicle off the wheels up onto a flat bed just by sliding the 2 x 6 under the rotor or drum.
You could also have attached it to the hitch of your beater Ranger and used that to pull it out.

Down low seam on the roof is so they could have coupe and convertible on the same shell.
You really did get a great foundation to work with you have very minimal rust and the parts that are rusted are easily replaceable. You did good. Just make sure you get some primer on that car in the next few days so it doesn't start rusting again.

Amazeballs! Back in the day my friend Roger had a new 66 2+2 dark green fastback. I had my 63 Impala parked behind him in his parent's driveway. He backed up without looking and hit my car. This dented my front license plate but did major damage to the Mustang. The rear bumper was caved in and both rear fenders pooched out in an outward "V" shape. Flimsy construction. Fortunately the insurance paid for the repairs and it was looked great. We had lots of fun in that "Muskrat".
