Here at Sun Distributing, we believe that the supplier of the window film should know every aspect of the business. It makes it hard when a tinter or tint shop needs support but their supplier does not know the business from one end to the other. I started as a tinter helper in 1989 and worked my way up to the point of distribution. Along the way I have put together a successful retail tint shop and know every hurdle that a tinter and/or shop owner could face. I believe that there is an extreme value to having a company with our experience in the industry having your back.

I bought NR from Tint Depot, and did both of my vehicles and it was all good. But just getting the technique down was a pain in the rear. And I found out the hard way of using a soft card or felt card is the best way to get the tint to lay down. I did the rear windows multiple times due to creases.. Thank you for the video's and giving us diy people the confidence to do it on our own.

I tinted my own car this week and I just did the rear glass today, with only the information I got from a youtube short. I ended up with one crease, and it was from going too fast and swiping too much at once. I slowed down and the next three corners went much better. Gila film from oreillys, dawn dish soap, a folding razor blade, and a lodge cast iron pan scraper. For using the absolute worst components I was actually surprised with how well my first try was.

I worked at a tint shop back in the day and I think each brand of film has their own shrinking characteristics. Unfortunately we switched brands a lot for reasons like glue failure, color inconstancy, bad film, or pushy reps. Not going to say manufactures but the big ones we all know. It was a pain back then because we had to re-learn the film each time we switched. Nowadays film has gotten better but as Matt says in so many words, time is money.

Hey man! I really like your videos and been following you for years now. I've been working with Lexen (between other films) and I've tried almost all their lines. I've noticed the same exact problem with the basic carbon they have. A little harder to shrink for sure. The one step higher Puremax line is a lot better for shrinking and also looks better. Also their ceramic lines are really easy to shrink

Thank you so much brother! You really are helping sooo many people out! I went to tinting school in Jacksonville two years ago but have just been tinting rv windows inside. So it’s flat glass. But a pain in the ass as far as cutting goes. I want to go back to shrinking and tinting class A RV windshields. I think that’s where the money is at. A huge window and hopefully it’s not to hard for one guy to tackle alone. I rv around the country full time and since day one I wanted to only offer the best of the best. I only buy geosheild pro nano ceramic. This makes me feel so much better. In tinting school I could shrink some of the easier back windows with no problem. But the more curved ones gave me trouble and I never mastered them. But now I’m thinking it could have been the cheap tint they use. Haha I’m hoping it was. Cause rv windshields are huge but look easy enough. And I love shrinking. It’s kind of therapeutic for me. Weird?! I don’t know. But I’m excited to get back to it. I guess the best way is to offer a FREE tint job to a lucky class A Rv owner. To practice. Thanks a bunch man.

Your absolutely right I am a beginner tinter who started with lexon film and i agree if your not experienced with shrinking front or back windshields this film Will definitely give you a harder time what I would recommend now for those who still want to save money on film is buy lexon and a better quality film like the one he talks about and only use that film for back and front windshields while you use lexon on doors and ext 👍 great video

When we train with this type of film I leave a little extra material top and bottom and we do what we call steering the film. Start by not doing an H pattern then grab the excess film near the lower/upper side edge and steer it from center to outer edge. Lexen shrinks slow but it'll lay flat if you follow this method. Common problem is not familiarizing yourself with different types of film. Your memory doesn't adapt quickly to new type of film if you use the same film consistently.

I knew it was the film. Did a charger back window with lexen nd just couldn't get it. Switched to superior charcoal and got it. This damn car had me questioning my life choices.😂😂

It’s possible, are u an authorized 3M dealer or did U buy it from a random source? Lots of fake films posing as legit brands.

If a tinter is able to shrink a charger back window with lexen, would you say they are pretty experienced? Since it seems to be a more difficult film to use

For sure! If you can shrink a charger with geo you can shrink most cars out there.

Won’t name any names but I was beta testing a new film in 2011, I got so pissed off after 3 attempts to shrink a rear windshield that I took the box of film and rolled it across the parking lot then called the rep and told them come pick it up. I immediately went back to regular film and had no problems.
