Here at Sun Distributing, we believe that the supplier of the window film should know every aspect of the business. It makes it hard when a tinter or tint shop needs support but their supplier does not know the business from one end to the other. I started as a tinter helper in 1989 and worked my way up to the point of distribution. Along the way I have put together a successful retail tint shop and know every hurdle that a tinter and/or shop owner could face. I believe that there is an extreme value to having a company with our experience in the industry having your back.

I've tinted for almost 6 years (mobile).. and me and you share so many of the same techniques.. if your like me tint changed my life!
Love your videos
Tint sure didn't change your ability to spell basic English words.
@chocomilk393 dang didn't realize I spelled cocksucker wrong.. piss off

That's CALLED THE CALIFORNIA ROLL.... we've been doing this for years here in CALI, it's a hell of an efficient way to tint the FRONT WINDOW being as it's a large piece tint. Another tip is before laying the tint onto the window before shrinking, lightly wet a "dryer sheet" and wipe the window down with it and it'll cut down on the static when removing the shrunk piece of tint that's ready to go onto the interior window. Works everytime.👌😉
he used a dryer sheet; he mentions it; he just doesn't show himself wiping the windshield down with it. He may look young, but he's been doing it for a living for 15 years now.
Thays called being smart cali aint got nothing to do with it!!
Yeah Cali is gay af
Anything tint passed the b pillar is a fix it ticket in California
@@AlanTrades lmao everything is a ticket in that shit state.
This is a PHENOMENAL tutorial. I came here looking for a way to stop squinting while driving, and you’ve made me a tint nerd in an instant.
Amazing how many people respond without proper knowledge. Windshield tint is illegal if it's the full windshield and not just to the AS1 lines; correct. However IF you have certain medical conditions with your eyes you can get a prescription/notice of windshield tint from your doctor that allows this. Also, depnding on the transparency of the tint for those that believe it makes it harder to see, alot of windshields are tinted with 55%-70% film, which inherently is basically as clear as the windshield is normally. It actually makes it easier to see by reducing glare. Yes, it becomes SLIGHTLY darker, but at those percentages, if you can't see properly through it you probably shouldn't be on the road to begin with. I do not advocate getting windshield tint but I've been tinting for 16 years and in places that are 90-100 degree summers MAN does it make a difference in heat transfer.
I had the same question and had just posted a comment. Please don't spam me about that. Lol. I also had wondered how it's legal to tint your front windshield dark? I'm aware of the as1 line, and when I had my front windshield tinted I went about 8 in down, way below the as1 line. But I didn't care. But I was not about to tint the whole front windshield. Thanks for the FYI. 👍
But you know 99.9% with tinted windshields don't have a prescription.
@@1RungAtATime 100% you are correct. But we do get quite alot of people that actually do too. But if we we're to reject windshields based on this, where i live you would lose about 20% of your revenue if not more. But also. I have windshield tint, and yes, no prescription. But we also tint the State Department Fleet Police vehicles and every cop ive asked said they would not pull you over for tint unless your a dick or doing something stupid. So to each their own. I like it. It doesnt impede my vision at all and i cant even tell its on there.
thanks for sharing this one. You made some excellent points about the bottom middle and the top corners that will help me learning to shrink the windshield! Thanks again, Matt. I enjoyed the live stream earlier. Watching you do the tinting helps it stick with me. I've really been paying attention to the techniques you use on the door windows. Great video and I look forward to the next live stream.
I noticed the first time I picked up a roll of film, that it had a tendency to telescope and made it very hard to handle, especially when tossing one end of the film to the opposite side of the windshield!
🔥🔥🔥 My favorite tint video guy! Wanna be like you when I grow up!! 👍🏻👍🏻
What’s that white tape you using to trace the window
Very talented. I can never do this🎉
You are the first guy to explain the reverse rolling and show us slowly and clearly how it actually works instead of doing it quickly like some other guys do and we just can’t comprehend how it works. You made it very easy to understand. Thank you!
Your videos helped me tint my mini in 15% carbon lexen, my windshield is curved as hell, but these tutorials you do help show how to attack the hard jobs.
I also work in this field
Why to tint a windshield? Is that legal??? I'm not sure, but it's an excellent option in the States where the sunlight is so strong for driving. Especially when the car must be parked directly under the sun all day, but I'm not sure if I could do it. Thank you fot your videos!!!
Can you make a video on how you’d tint a windshield that’s not yet installed into a vehicle?
Great work 👏 how about a rear windshield what side you start unrolling the material after you done heat shrinking the rear window what side to roll up first and on the inside what side to unroll first
What’s the trick to not getting creases while shrinking and wiping the air out? Is my tint to cheap or why do I have these Cretan easily when you can card it so freely?? Using expel prime xr plus.
So the question is why the seal is outside seal supposed to be the opposite side I mean to the windshield side?
Great tutorial!!!
For those of you in CA, keep in mind that this is illegal. Only top 4" of the windshield may be tinted.
I didn't think you could tint the windshield at all. Besides that top 4-6"
Damn Frfr?
I tried doing this job it takes a special talented hard-working person to achieve this I'm sorry I was had a heart attack putting mine in
Noob question. How do you know side of the tint is the side where you stick to the mirror?
What kind of tape do you use man mind asking
Can you link the thin tape you used to outline the cut? I’m not seeing it in the description. Thanks!
Can you please give the name of the film that I can easily install it on the windshield for beginners!
What kind of window film do you recommend?
I don’t want to get it from Walmart,
Thank you.
SUNTEK, it's a carbon based tint. Slightly harder to work with but it's an awesome tint AND LOOKS REALLY NICE WHEN APPLIED RIGHT. Plus, the HEAT ABSORPTION is really good...
@@robsnizzle7 can you buy if your not a dealer?
Your video really helps bro. Thanks a lot
Should do a Jeep Patriot windshield tint
If that film does anything at all for heat rejection or TSER how does it not cause any risk of thermal stress in a laminated windscreen???
Ho do you apply the heat gun after wetting underneath?
what was the white string look? any alternative
I’m sorry but I didn’t hear or notice what is sprayed on the window water by itself or some other mix with water?
Is it normal to tiny front windshield outside instead of inside
It sucks pulling up to a 4 way stop and there windows are so dark you cant see them giving you the go ahead..
Is a forty inch roll enough for a Mercedes 1997 ?
Thank you ❤🎉
Why do you heat shrink it at first?
great job.....i like the color of the film......can you tell me the % thanks.........!!
Self tinted windshields aren't allowed in Germany except they're tinted from the manufacturer.
To my knowledge they're not allowed in America either.
@@rotorhead5826 Depends on the state.
This is an amazing help, thank you!
Why would you tind the only glass that shouldn't be tinted? 😅
Do you have any on a charger rear window
He does actually. You'll have to do some digging but he has a tutorial on shrinking it. I think it has something to do with looking easy but slightly challenging to shrink. He also shows some tips because those have some really thick defrost lines.
9:40
First the film is put on the outside of the car, then on the inside and finally on the outside. I don't get it. 😕
Its easier, so much easier and more reasonable to shrink the tint from the outisde rather than doing it all from the inside, so that's first step. 2nd, apply it go the inside. The additional in this video was him going back to the beginning to show the shrinking process.
in germany you get into prison for this.
XD
what percentage is that
50. The best imo. It only looks a little bit dark at night but it's gonna make the biggest difference in your driving quality. Do it
Illegal almost everywhere to tint your windshield.
There is no easy way its s nightmare tried it 5 times and failed😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Illegal in Florida
Nope
Ummm tinting your FRONT WINDOW??? WTF
is this not stupid as you will not see as well as you should
Might see better than before...all windows in cars are tinted otherwise you get massive reflection and heat. Hold up clear glass next to your car window....
Enjoy your accident insurance claim DENIAL when they see you had a tinted front window...
Boohoo

Windshield tint should be illegal in every state
why what
Why should be illegal
Your not supposed to tint a windshield...you can put a banner at the top but that's it!
That’s not always true, It all depends… and 50% tint on the FWS does practically nothing to impair someone’s vision while driving but I guess that could all depend as well. 🤷🏽♂️
Windshield tint is illegal in all fifty states
Don't tint the windshield. That's just idiotic...
tHaT's jUsT iDiOtIc
Why? Basically idiotic to tint anything but even from the factory all windows are tinted🥱

I've used the cali roll for 20+ years. 1 more thing is to tape the headliner to keep fibers and contamination out. You touched the driver side headliner with the exposed film and sure you have a bit of contamination there. I always tape up 4 inches or so of the headliner to keep it clean as possible. Good video!

I’m a little lost, why are you shrinking the film? And why are you shrinking it from the front of the car and not from the inside?
It's easier to shrink it outside then you just apply it once you are inside the car.
You make it look a lot easier than it really is
For those who aren’t aware, I just found out that in Tennessee it’s illegal to tint your windshield. Been driving my car for eleven years like that and was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy this past Wednesday who told me that. Kind of pissed me off. I’ve been stopped for tint before and NO mention of the windshield. When I was stopped for it years ago the officer whipped out his tint card placed it to my drivers side window and told me it was below the legal limit and let me go. This recent one told me I’d be stopped over and over again and fined! I’ve seen many trucks and cars with darker tint than mine!
Probably just a doofus cop, I wouldn't take it off
@@joefro9473 I had no choice but to remove it. It was a county officer that stopped me. He was fairly cool about it but my back window was severely bubbled up so I just said screw it. I’ll take it off…Looks like 💩 but oh well it’s better than being fined $250 bucks!
I can do back windows like a champ with reverse roll but doing my first windshield in a few weeks. Taking a stab at it anyway. Looks the same just more material to shrink
Thank you for tutorial/ tips on shrinking a front windshield and how to reverse roll it.
Watching this made me have more confidence to try and tackle tinting my front windshield myself. Been putting it off for soo long and its almost summer time in Arizona.
I've been wanting to try this but I've heard many tinters refer to this as, "The dirt roll method". Are the results consistent and super clean? Thanks.
The white Tape (Glass Aid) used in the video is a US Product and it is not stocked outside of the US
The alternative tape is called Finishing line knifeless tape which is readily available in Europe and various companies make it like 3M
Why should you use the tape?
Highly illegal in Australia. 🤣
I seen some people that tried to tint their windows on their vehicle, and it just did not come out the same way to factory tenant window people do the car came out totally sloppy leave it up to the professionals if you’re tinting your windows
All the people so concerned about it being illegal😂 that’s cute
This is against uk traffic laws dont be a fool
Thank you!
Greetings from SoCal😎
Add cleaning to them too! Good video though
As far as I understand from all the tinting videos I watched, you don't need to heat for the slide windows since they aren't curved but you need to heat it for the windshield and the rear glass. Is that correct?
i would say you shirnk the side windows as well its just easier to install and wont see fingers when installing.
You need to heat every window except for flat ones like the Jeep or g wagon. Most windows are curved,
gonna do my 2015 fusion need it badly. tired of the lack of tint lol. your vod. and other vods are helping me, I am a jackass of all trades, master of nothing, so re learning stuff like this is great.
Dumb question, can I use a blow dryer for the shrinking or is that a no no? I have a 4Runner.....
google
Can you tell me why I keep getting damaged hardcoat marks towards the bottom of the windshield only when I use geoshield apex 70. I tried it 3 times and used way less heat 2nd and 3rd time but it keeps getting these scratch/hardcoat damage marks at the middle bottom. All other brand films have been fine.
2:15 spray with water or soup water?
Can you tint the wind shield with some cracks in it?
How big are the cracks or are they chips? I tinted my chipped windshield and it was fine, my buddies car had cracks and it cracked even more.
@@benjamincruz514 well someone randomly smashed my windshield and tried to hit my side window but i think the tint saved it
But since that happened to my windshield i had to get it replaced so i have a windshield tint now too and a 5 percent strip on top i live in fl so it gets hot the tints really keeps the car cool lol
Im a cop. I'm going to give everyone a ticket for illegal window tinting the windshield. You need to show up to the department to turn yourself in so I can ticket you. Thank you.
I gave taken my 2023 telluride to two different shops to get windshield done and always keeps getting dust. What are they doing wrong??
Question: do I NEED to heat shrink it? I wouldn’t mind needing too, but wondering if I can
So after the shrinking of the film it’s not gonna be able to bubble up again? Or “unshrink” itself..
What solution do you use to clean the windshield. And stick the film with?
love a tinted winshield. used to rock a 35 before. stepped it down to 20 in recent years. technology has made winshield tint an even more of a headache, especially subaru with their eyesight.

I have a 2011 VW Jetta that I’m preparing to tint the front windshield on, but the gap in between the dash and windshield is extremely tight. My bulldozer won’t fit, any suggestions?
Have a concerning question , i just recently got xpel 15% on the windows & 70% on the windshield, 98% ceramic done. But what I'm really noticing is alot of rainbowing only when i have polarized sunglasses on while inside the car looking out. Is this normal to see this ? Any help is greatly appreciated
Yeah it’s only gonna happen with polarized sunglasses. It’s the ceramic material base it reacts with the polarization in the tint and can actually make it worse looking through sun glasses. Polyester dyed or carbon based film don’t have dramatic of an effect but it is something the shop should have made you aware of. Been tinting about 15 years and have seen it a handful of times. Maybe there’s a brand of film at there that it’s not as noticeable however in my experience with the films I use it can happen
Polarized are for looking into water lol.

If using a precut template on windshield do you still need to shrink? Will the edges come up short if so?
What tool are you using during the shrinking process? A heat gun and…? What setting on the heat gun?
can you tint the whole window or you have to leave the black stuff exposed
I just tint the windshield and it all done I saw some bubbles on the bottom of the windshield doesn’t it go away by itself?
