Just saw a recent interview w/Barry Gibb talking about singers he admires. @75y/o he STILL doesn't act like he is one of the best singer songwriters ever. He is truly humble and a gentleman.
Idk if it's TRUE, but I heard Barry Gibb was in New York and contacted SNL to kinda punk Justin & Jimmy. Hysterical when Barry started singing in his trademark falsetto to the parody song that Jimmy Fallon prob wrote (the lyrics.) The only song lyrics NOT written by Barry Gibb.😉😁
I HATED seeing Barry cry when he spoke about each brother. One interview, he had to stop it, then call the reporter and in his gentleman's way he told her (close to what Barey said) I respect u, and I hope u feel the same. I am so sorry but it is too soon for me to talk about my brothers." Then close to a year later he finished the interview. He kept his word, and appologized 4 how long ut took him to be able to finish the 2nd interview. The more we all see/hear, Barry constantly outdoes himself w/class and grace.
Jimmy Fallons portrayal of an angry Barry Gibb that demands respect was a take on Barry frustration at being the disco Kings during the disco sucks period. Even the new documentary shows Barry addressing the media with his outrage. They just wanted to make music that made the body want to move, just so happened it was the onset of disco. ((After the Vietnam protest period was ending and people were exhausted and tired of how serious and real that time was, with freedom anthems, war protest, peace and love, etc...naturally it wouldn’t last...human nature would not allow it. They wanted dumbed down, simple rhythms and less brain games - boom disco. It happens often and might just happen after the Covid period (hopefully) passes...people are frustrated and on edge, tired of the real. They will want “disco” again (of course it won’t be disco but something BIG is coming in music 2021-2022).
Barry Gibb is the best sport ever to agree to do that cameo appearance. Oh my goodness! I lost it! I will love the Bee Gees romantic harmonies forever! And the dance music too!
Omg I just love Barry Gibb. Always have always will. He is a good man with a sweet spirit. God surely blessed him and his precious family with talent and they all remained humble as this skit clearly shows.
Warms my heart to see Barry enjoying himself with two icons portraying him and his brother Robin. Im sure he felt like his brothers were there with him.
Barry Gibb (and his brothers when they were alive) would be close to the funniest rock stars in modern music. Some of their interviews together over the years are bordering on Monty Python sketches.
Barry, Mr BG himself is easily one of the greatest song writers from the 60s who went to higher clouds for the next 20 yrs. Extraordinary talent. Especially so given his rocky start. Amazing artist AND a genuine, nice guy.
There is a youtube video called Bee Gees hits over the years. It shows that they wrote at least 1 song a year starting in 67, into the late 90s. I know they wrote & sang b4&after those years, (&Barry is still writing music.)but, the video I saw was between those dates.
Search for the BeeGees top 10 songs. There is a video that lists 100 songs that they wrote that made the top 10. (For themselves or for others.) Those 100 songs AND all of the albums they released themselves. Just amazing!
Barry can still hit those high notes after all these years...wow!! Listened to a lot of Bee Gees growing up in the '70s (my Dad had very eclectic musical tastes), and not just the disco-era stuff, but also their earlier, more Motown-influenced stuff. They are indelibly imprinted upon me. Of course it speaks well of any man who can take a joke and even have fun goofing on himself in front of millions of people; you can never bring down a guy like that. But then again, it seems almost impossible that he wouldn't have a sense of humor. He's survived the ups and downs and cruel vicissitudes of life as an artist/entertainer. He's the last Bee Gee standing. He's written and performed some of the most iconic music of the past 50 years, and his overall success as a songwriter is second only to Paul McCartney. Something tells me he doesn't spend much time worrying about where the next dollar is gonna come from. And when he toured solo a few years ago, he proved he could still put plenty of butts in seats wherever he went. Besides all that: 72 years old or not, I'll wager he could bed down women whose *PARENTS* are barely old enough to remember "Saturday Night Fever." If that doesn't make you happy and comfy in your own skin, then something is seriously wrong with you.
@UCmzLbgy9bHYbBjz9rQ1YfRw No, I said the two most **SUCCESSFUL** songwriters are Paul McCartney and Barry Gibb. Whether or not I think one of them is a genius impresario rock god, or the other such a shitty songwriter that listening to one of his songs makes my ears want to throw up, doesn't change the fact that in terms of album sales and song royalties and such, McCartney has rung up bigger numbers than Gibb. Talent and artistic merit are subjective and debatable; sales figures generally are not. My "opinion" one way or the other changes nothing.
Okay I saw the original skit with Jimmy and Justin on SNL but how in the hell did they get Barry to do this with them? What a sport! This was hilarious! 🤣🤣
Barry's also mentioned this in an interview, that Robin's character was exactly how Barry is in life, and vice versa. So no, it really wasn't fair to Barry.❤️
No, his better half told him to get out of the house and start doing something again. ...... It's hard to loose brothers let alone band brothers... You just got to keep DANCING!!!!!
And why not join in hahaha!! This is the kind of humor Sir Barry and his brothers enjoyed. Goofy, playful lighthearted skits and ad-libbing. Loved it then , still loving it now❤️
I saw this when it aired. I was VERY shocked and happy. It also showed everyone Mr. Gibb was ok with Fallon doing a parody of him. Which made this clip even more special.
Even if Barry gave his blessing to this I respect that. But Barry and his brothers Mo and Robin deserve a lot of respect just for being musical genius's throughout so many years . Love love love Barry ❤️❤️❤️ Bee Gee"s 4 ever !
I have loved all the BeeGees skits done by Jimmy and Justin! They are hilarious! 😂 Barry is such a good sport. I love that he gave his blessing by appearing in this special! 😊 Justin was featured in The Bee Gees documentary that premiered on HBO last night. It would have been so awesome if a clip from one of them had been included in the documentary during his interview. 😉 #BeeGeesDoc #BeeGees #BeeGeesHBO #HowCanYouMendABrokenHeart

This is awesome Barry Gibb and all the Gibb brothers have such great personalities. I'm 45 years old and I have a ton of their albums including Saturday Night Fever original press. Absolutely love their music!
I was very surprised 😮 and excited 😁 when I saw Barry on there. At the time I was mourning the loss of Robin(my favorite 😢 💔). I felt like crying 😢, but 🌞 seeing Barry made me happy 😊.
@Barry Gibb i like to think this is the real Barry Gibb responding 😀 😉 considering he's royalty now. I didn't think he would actually answer his fans. Unless he's the real deal. What I love about Jimmy Fallon is that when he does music impersonations, he does them so damn spot on that you know he respects the music. And his impersonation of Barry Gibb as an host was just so ridiculous that it was just not remotely insulting as it was just hilariously over the top. That damn theme song gets stuck in your head, and fells like the Bee Gees would have written and produced the damn thing themselves if they were all still with us, LOL!
Such a class act Barry Gibb is. Him appearing is his way of giving the skit his full blessing.

Jimmy Fallon. He's just too hilarious. A genius in humor
But still NOT as witty as Robin was
