Drug addiction is a terrible thing. Unfortunately, people enjoy the experience and the price is very, very high at times.

When I was 15 years of age I saw Andy Gibb skateboarding and he was truly a great skateboarder ! I was amazed and astonished as were all the girls standing together to watch him skateboading at our school. He showed up as a promise to a girl in our school but we were never told who the girl was, only that he was going to come to our school and to watch out for him. He was so beautiful, I can still see him in my mind, his long golden wavy hair streaming over his shoulders as he sped by on his skateboard. He kept smiling and proving his skill on the board. I think he had a lot of fun and energy and he was certainly a good-looking guy. He was a cheeky handsome devil at such young age. The year was 1977, he would have been 19 years of age..... It's something that I will never forget....I saw Andy Gibb with my own eyes !

Please… he wasn’t greedy . His talent was enough to keep him successful. He unfortunately was caught up in an addiction that is hard for him and anyone to overcome no matter the help. It’s very sad. It also wasn’t the responsibility of his brothers to fix him. That’s something that must eventually come from within. Let him rest in peace until the time of resurrection when he will shine not in fame but life. 💕

I can remember Andy's brothers talking about their grave concern about what was happening with Andy. Especially Barry, who seemed frantic with frustration over a perceived ending. I think it was only a matter of a couple of months; many weeks before they lost him.
The Bee Gees were exceptional in so many ways. Not only were they outstanding artists and performers, but they were lovely people and there was a family cohesion that was enviable.
I'm ever so glad I lived when I did to have experienced, enjoyed, and danced the nights away to their music. Forever in my heart, love forever to and for the Bee Gees.

I think when Victoria left him for her plastic surgeon it broke his heart tremendously and only pushed him further into addictions & drinking. It is said that one can die of a broken heart; the trauma of losing someone you love can actually do damage to the heart. IMHO this is what happened to him and the drinking only made it worse. So sad to see such a handsome guy go like that.

There’s a reason why the rest of the Gibb family never settled in Los Angeles. It could be a dangerous place for the young, being influenced by artists that led a hedonistic lifestyle. This is true to this day, how many stars are coming forward now, to speak of the things they endured by people who said they would mentor them. His family all wanted him to come home, to Miami, or England. He must have met people that led him down a fatal path. When you already suffer with some mental health issues drugs seem an easy way of escaping. I think it’s quite sad that Andy could not see in himself what all of his fans saw in him. I miss him, and strangely, I haven’t played one of his LPs since the day I heard he died.

  • @TxNWmn

I'm sadden to learn that Andy Gibb was suffering w/depression and anxiety... the music industry is full of evil people that have zero compassion nor care what drugs do to young artists. These young (or mature) artists are known as "cash cows", they're worth more dead than alive.
I remember my sister and I had gone to shoot some hoops at our old middle school, when our brother showed up and told us that Andy Gibb had passed away... I was so stunned! I cried, went home and played his greatest hits album over and over.😢
He was too young to have died like that... R.I.P. Andy Gibb.🥀

  • @wendiwonderly1419
    @wendiwonderly1419 9 месяцев назад +592

He’d have been better off if he had been less handsome with no brothers. If you or I used drugs we’d lose our jobs and soon run out of options. Andy could always leverage his good looks and famous family to go from one job to another without taking responsibility for his addiction and personal problems. By the time he started to realize this he had permanent heart muscle damage. The heart was not strong enough to pump the blood volume to the rest of the body. Then the excess fluid backs up into the lungs causing one to drown in their own fluids. The night before he died he went on an alcohol bender. The increase in fluids from the alcohol would have increased his blood volume putting further strain on his heart. We’re all going to die someday but he didn’t need to go out of this world that way. Very very sad case

My sister had the biggest crush on Andy. Such a sad story. Drug addiction, depression, and anxiety have killed many stars. Such a sad, sad story. Too bad his family couldn't convince him to stop ruining his finances and health. Losing his recording contract had to be a huge blow. I remember when he died, some wanted to blame Victoria Principal. Cocaine causes heart failure. Just a tragic story! Thirty is a very short life indeed.

Andy’s Achilles heel was alcohol. I suspect the problem was hereditary. His liver may have always been deficient, even before the introduction of the alcohol. He died from the accumulative affects of what alcohol did to his body. He died, I almost hate to say it, a lowly drunk. His faulty liver caused his body to suffer as much damage from alcohol as someone who drank steadily for 50 years.
You see, if his liver didn’t process the alcohol as quickly as a normal person, than he stayed under the influence longer with less alcohol. His alcoholism progressed faster and much harder than say a person whose liver processes alcohol normally. His liver pickled him. Probably hereditary. The liver, of course.
I have seen many hard core alcoholics get drunk, stumbling and slurred speech after just two beers. The alcohol simply didn’t convert very well and it accumulated in their blood.
I know it doesn’t help much, but I do feel sorry for these kind of alcoholics. They got dealt a bad hand of cards.
I’m a different kind of alcoholic.

You don't have to be a famous rock star to have battles with addictions and personal demons. It can kill any marriage and relationship. Jesus spoke about a narrow pathway. Poverty is a curse, but an inheritance hurriedly gained will not be blessed in the end. Jesus also went around casting out demons. We need more of that along with love songs. RIP brother Gibbs.🕊️
