    I always loved these quotes:
"Good camera doesn't make you pro.
Everybody has good legs, but not everyone can be footballer.
So choose whatever you FEEL it's FUN."
To be honest, none of those three are much better than the competitor. But my experiences with the 6DII and the new EOS R just entertains me.
A feature I think many overlooked for example as simple as "closing the curtain to protect the sensor while changing the lens", it DOES make me feel that Canon put a thoughts to this camera to be rigid and reliable. As a crew, my boss encourages me to use Sony and Fuji. But me and many of my colleagues opted Canon instead.
We felt it weird that we didn't opted for the "better specs overall" but it's true...

Canon 5D is great time-tested camera. This is the best mirror camera by Canon. I will take mirrorless Canon camera in 5-8 years when it will be good enough and well tested.

5-8 years till mirrorless is good enough??? Thats how I know you only speak from what you hear without actually knowing for yourself. Mirrorless is already offering so many things that you cant get with dslrs. I remember people saying this exact same thing last year but its 2019 man lol mirrorless is at the top now especially with what SONY is doing. The only reason I would chose a dslr is if I shoot sports or wildlife. But not everyone has the chance to get in a stadium or travel to Africa so yeah for the most part Mirrorless is the best option for beautiful photography as of today. Btw I’m not a sony fan boy cause I’ve had sony fuji and now canon eos r

My update for 5D III will for sure be RF body. I would love to be able to afford the RF lenses - hopefully the price will drop to more realistic levels or Sigma will offer native RF mount ;)

I would have thought that the answer to this question is quite obvious. But no.
I have the 6d ii ( coming from the 70d, it was the most practical Canon camera rather than the 80d which is too similar...) because I have not got the money nor the experience yet to own and get the most out of the 5d iv.
The EOS R is new and paired with the right L lens ( and happens to be recommended for L type lens...) , which it was really designed for and a semi pro is also above the 6d ii.
So for the majority of us who are not in your league ( I mean that sincerely ) should in their right mind opt for the 6d ii.
But again, that new EOS is tempting!
    Way to go...Fro Knows!!!

I have a Question for you Jared; Why do we still look at higher ISO as a legitimate improvement, if the majority if not all the cameras images still shown noise etc from setting your ISO anything above 12800? Wouldn't it be more prudent to have a camera that can actually be set to a higher ISO and not get a crap image? Okay, that was technically two questions. Maybe there should be a standard..... to the standard, in other words measure the highest an ISO setting can go before it starts to fall apart, and call that standard "OIS" (Optimal ISO Setting) or pronounced "Oh-is" an acronym within an acronym... come on... that's awesome sauce right!

Good points Fro, but if i can make just one cooment (NO YOU CAN'T! Ok but i'll make it anyway.), the Eos R really is, technically and technologically speaking, superior in almost everything against the 5D Mark IV. BUT! In my humble opinion, the R and M4, have to be analised in the specific usage that both of them were made to be used. The M4 has born to be almost an "war tank" in durability to be used, mainly, in photojournalism, with focus (HÁ! ... ahn... focus... photographers/photojournalists... okay, not as good as i had imagined...) in war zones and zones with extreme climatic changes and conditions, that's why it's made with a body of magnesium alloy in order to resist most of weathers conditions. Just as the R was made to be used in almost all daily situations other than war zones and harsh weathers conditions even if have a magnesium alloy body (Which is not made as the same in the M 4, but pretty good nonetheless), besides to, too, be used in photojournalism line of work, like sports, wild life, sreet, police, politics and journalistic investigations in general, in which requires a silent shutter and huge amounts of ISO without losing too much of image quality, together with the fact of the adaptator which allow us to use our old glasses with it. Well to make the opera shorter: in my, probably, limited vision, even if both of them really are really good, the efficiency of them has a great relationship with for what they'll be used for.

I will say though, with these choices I would pick the R only for the upcoming FAST glass options. Regardless of your shooting style, fast glass usually equals money shots. Fred agree, people talk cameras but it is only half the package, you need good lenses to to get sharp images and small depths of field. The cheapest camera here with better glass is going to give better images. Although, in the future the R lenses are the winners, as they can be made better due to the lens being closer to the sensor. But you need lots of money to get all that!

Have to say Jared.....I've been following you for maybe a year or close to it and I enjoy your videos. They are upbeat, filled with information and you guys do a great job with the video, editing, audio etc. Keep up the great work. About the EOS R. This video along with a few others helped push me to upgrade to the EOS R. 2 years ago I almost bit on the 5D M4 but decided to wait. Glad I did. Since I'm heavily invested in Canon lenses etc., I was pleased the EOS R accepted the EF lenses without quality loss. I upgraded from two 5D M2's I've been using for years. The technology upgrades are huge. Everything about the EOS R will enable me to work faster (auto focus system, button configurability). I'll be shooting my first wedding with the EOS R in a couple of weeks and look forward to my results. I had a 2nd shooter with me last year who had the 6D and I was impressed with that cameras low light performance vs my 5D Mark II. His reception shots were better then mine! Great colors and sharpness. When I saw the much lower price for the 6D.....I almost went for that camera as well. Luckily I waited and sure enough Canon finally drops a Mirrorless camera that is slightly better than both of the other two choices (in my opinion) for different reasons. Thanks again for your quality content. (see ya - LOL)

I'll probably get flamed for this, but just a few questions after watching…
    1. Are we to assume that, the camera that amasses the most check marks, is the best camera to buy?…
    2. Since a camera is just a tool, can your checkmark amassing strategy also be utilised when deciding on what other tools to buy, like say; pencils?…
    3. What benefit, if any does the checkmark amassing system have on the buyers artistic and creative output?…
    4. Does the checkmark amassing strategy actually have any real merit?
    5. If amassing the checkmarks don't actually relate to which camera to buy, what real purpose do they serve?
I am a huge fan of your channel, and there's always some great stuff to be found up here, but I really struggle to understand the purpose of this type of video, particularly coming from someone who is clearly very professional.

"NOBODY gets a check mark!" -- I totally lost it when you said that. The people in the lobby here must think I'm crazy.

I totally agree with you. I had all those models (plus a 5ds) and currently, I'm having a blast with the R. I just wish it had a double sd slot and Ibis. Besides that, the sheet spec doesn't make justice at all.

    i have some questions:
Is a camera better if you can push the iso up to higher numbers?
Isn't it more important that a camera has less noise at higher iso?
Does it mean, that if a camera has a high iso number, it has potentially less noise?

Same here, i have the old 60d and eos m5. No need for full frame until they get their crap together. Their giving me the images i desire. I do have L glass but wont switch to full frame bc of the Canon tactics. Some people say is a waist to use L glass on crop sensor but i disagree. It looks fantastic to me.

    Hay,
    Jared hope you are good
I want to ask a question I am planning to buy my first gear
    5D Mark IV
    But
    I have seen a video
Where it is mentioned that Canon 5D Mark IV has a sensor issue
    Exposure streaking in raw
    How
    Far is it true
    And
The video I have seen is bit old
    Is the issue resolved
    Or still exists

Too bad that extra slot is going to cost me an extra grand plus I'll have a lesser camera... good job canon! 😑

What I need is a 7D Mk III with today's specs, not yesterday's. If Canon makes that, I'll buy. If they roll out a 1DX MK III which kicks ass and doubles it's pixel count, while maintaining that FPS rate with a good buffer, I'm willing to tighten up my belt and shell out big money for that. Canon is behind in the DSLR game, and mirrorless isn't quite there yet for sport and wildlife.
