Hey Sheray! Thanks for the kind comments on our video! I'm Jim, the piano, clarinet, backing vocalist, audio & video editor guy. It was such a joy to record with Tori...she's not only an amazing talent, but a beautiful human being. On behalf of my other musician friends, I wholeheartedly thank you for your heartfelt reaction/review! -Jim
Again, Jim, the pairing of you, your musicians and Tori has been a huge catalyst in reigniting a lot of interest in Carpenter's music, including my own. The fact that you so painstakingly recreated the parts from the original sent me back to re-listen and appreciate all of Richard's arrangements, keyboard playing, both of their singing, not to mention all the other fine arrangers and players that graced their music for over a decade. Keep up the great work. We'll all be waiting for the next masterpiece to drop!
@@wesmiddaugh230 I believe she converted an extra room in their house to a studio. Originally she recorded in her bedroom. Then built the studio. The sound tiles are the main difference and position of the door.
@@wesmiddaugh230 Haha!! Wes, Tori is recording in her own home music studio! There are drums, a digital recorder and acoustic foam tiles all over the room. No stove, sink or fridge! LOL
Lovely reaction Sheray... don't worry, I think most of us smiled, open mouthed in disbelief when we first heard Tori. Welcome to the Tori fan club, it's great here, she makes us smile daily with her wonderful talent. She is a superstar in the making.... not forgetting Jim's hard work on this production, all together, it is quite mind blowing.🌟
Tori, she's an amazing singer, producer, and musician. So happy the world is discovering her wonderful talents in these challenging times. May God bless and protect her. 🙏
Sheray! Did I lie, I did not! I’ve been trying to have you listen to Tori and now you have. Welcome to the Tori Party! She is amazing. She also sings songs of her own, originals! That’s her voice, no tricks or phony stuff. I met her last week at the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration. She is a sweetheart on top of her golden voice. Her last name is pronounced Haw-Luhb, soft vowels. There’s more if you want it. I recorded Tori singing two songs, Live at the Acoustic Night. Just her and a piano. I’m going to link the video I shot. It’s not the quality of the video Jim Wilkas produced but it’s all we have for now. I believe there will be another video later but I was closer. Maybe he had a bigger zoom or was tied into the sound. For now my video is it and I’ve been getting compliments on it, so here it will be. She sang two songs, I don’t know if that works for you but they were live. The first is a song Karen never got to sing called; Something In Your Eyes. Richard and John Bettis wrote it then Karen died. The second song is; Yesterday Once More, a Carpenters classic. On the thumbnail of my video are two pictures. Tori singing that night and who she met on the following Saturday. Yup! Him! It’s official Tori and Richard Carpenter have met face to face. Richard was a SURPRISE guest on the last night of the event. So anyone criticizing Tori have to answer to Richard now. If this works for you, great. If not we have more produced videos and audios. Joe, I'm so glad you and many others were at Carpenter's 55th Anniversary acoustic show to experience Tori singing live. I was at her earlier Crooner's performance with Billy Stritch at the piano, and there definitely was a thrill to hearing someone so young step out and discover the risk and reward of live performance. I have no doubt we'll be seeing more of Tori live in the coming months. Thanks for all your enthusiastic support as well.
@@poldidak you saw the live performance at the church? I linked it above. And you had the 1.0 experience, that had to thrill even more. Congrats on being there. It was a moment in time.
@@jbs256 I've enjoyed watching Tori's performance from the church several times now. I don't remember hearing the audience gasp at Crooners, but I saw a lot of eyes light up when Tori started singing "Yesterday Once More", because many in the crowd hadn't come for a Carpenter's-themed show as was the case in Downey, but rather were coming for just a fun Broadway-meets-open-mike-night experience of Jim Caruso. I'm sure many people went home and Googled Tori after that momentous occasion! I sent her my phone footage from offstage-left where I sat. But she posted front-on footage her family took. Sound was just okay on both versions from Crooners.
@@poldidakI now get why people were complaining about the loud piano. It’s way the phone records it. It sounded more balanced in the church than my recording. I heard the gasp behind me but the iPhone was facing forward. It picked up the applause because it was loud! We both had great nights and historic.
@@jbs256 , as a pianist who's accompanied a lot of live singing performances I cringe when I hear phone recordings played back because it makes me sound like a clod-hopper on even the finest Steinway piano! I know I sound better than that in person. LOL! Arrgh!
Hi again Sheray, Just giving you a heads up for Tori (and Dan’s) most recent cover. It just dropped. The song is “Suddenly” it’s from the movie Xanadu. Originally sung by Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard in 1980. Maybe look up that song as a reference? A couple of firsts here. This is Tori’s first full length Olivia cover and the first time she plays an instrument in a full length song, Ovation guitar. Joe ruclips.net/video/XrKi9pbpDAI/видео.htmlsi=pttlUr2Zx_exyaFe .
Sheray, you will be very moved as a black woman when you see and react to "Black Pearl" by Sonny and the Checkmates. Enjoy. I will watch out for your post. I recommend the RUclips version which shows many color photos.
A very nice reaction to a classic Carpenters' song 💐! Yes, she sounds eerily similar to Karen Carpenter. Not a lot of information on Tori Holub other than she is an aspiring audio engineer who is also a very talented singer. She has social media pages on Facebook, IG, TikTok and RUclips. She has covered some other songs including: Merry Christmas Darling (Carpenters), Georgia On My Mind (Ray Charles), Magic (Olivia Newton-John), Now And Then (The Beatles), The Long And Winding Road (The Beatles), Bacharach Medley (Carpenters) and some others as well. She has released some singles on Apple Music including: Something To Believe In (2024), Christmas Again (2023), Superstar (2022) and My Christmas Dreams (2022).

Your reaction was the same as mine. Tori is the re-incarnated Karen Carpenter. If anything proves re-incarnation this does.
