As mentioned in the description to the video Karen only sang one verse of this song in her medley with Perry Como, but it was so gorgeous I really wished the Carpenters had recorded the whole song. So I had this wild idea. I thought wouldn't it be lovely to hear Tori finish what Karen started. So knowing Tori wouldn't be able to find a backing track in the right key because it was a hit for a man, I decided to record the piano part in the key Karen sang it in and then sent it to Tori. I had no idea whether she'd like or even know the song. Why would a 20 year old know a Perry Como hit from 1970. Well imagine my delight when she responded and said it was one of her absolute favourite songs. I can tell you the day she sent me her first vocal take I was absolutely floating on air. It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. I had to go out just after it arrived and on that half hour walk I had it playing in my ears on a continuous loop. I'm sure anyone who saw me on that journey would have seen someone who looked just like you did in this video. I couldn't stop smiling. Tori's voice is seriously special. Dan, I remember watching your reviews/reaction videos on Tori, and little did I know you would be recording with her a short time later with this song and then "Suddenly". "Impossible" and "Suddenly" are the words that come to mind to describe this unfolding talent before our ears.😉 😊
You shouldn't be apologetic for having a heart. I cannot imagine how anyone can listen to this and not just melt. I am 70 years old, with a box of facial tissues in use. Some of it is the song, of course. The majority of it is Tori's spectacular voice and smooth inflection. Listening to her is like getting a soft hug that lasts for the length of the song. Dan is on her same wavelength, to be sure, and has a very nice complementary voice [if you read this Dan, no offense - Tori is the one on display, so to speak]. That is what makes Tori and Dan so appealing is there down to earth natural abilities. There is no auto tune or pitch correction or fancy production embellishments. Looking through your list of reactions, I have not seen you react to the young lady which has the most beautiful voice that I have ever heard. Her name is Lucy Thomas and she is a 20 year old young woman from England. She has a channel on RUclips called lucythomasmusic. She has about 70 songs spanning from age 14 to the present day. At age 14 she was in Voice Kids, UK and reached the semifinals. She has 5 albums out now. She has a little less than a million subscribers to her channel. Her most viewed cover, done when she was 16 is Hallelujah which has about 49 million views. I suggest that you react to Unchained Melody, one of her more recent covers. I can't imagine that you will not be totally amazed by her vocal ability.
