Wow. You know when some singers make you shed tears? Like Maria Callas, Billie Holiday and Karen Carpenter, she sounds so close, this lady made my eyes sweat.
Hi Lyle, I’m so glad you enjoyed Tori, Jim and the crew. This was as you can imagine, a labor of love. The song was even released on March 2, 2024, Karen’s birthday. Tori’s hero is Karen and also Richard as she is a very capable audio engineer. She makes all her own short and one long videos. This project was Jim’s masterpiece, though Tori produced what ever was done in her video box and sent it to Jim for final and inclusion. I’m going to sponsor her two most recent videos with her UK collaborator, Dan Wesley. The first is It’s Impossible, a Perry Como cover. That does involve Karen. There is a nice description in the box below the video that Dan wrote. The second video will show off Tori’s range. The We’ve Only Just Begun and It’s Impossible show off her Alto/Contralto tones. Suddenly; from the 1980 movie Xanadu, originally sung by Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard, will give you her Soprano range. All of it as you will see, effortless. As I think I noted originally, there is no pitch correction or AutoTune being used, she never uses them. A natural singer, something rare nowadays. Last March when the song came out Fil from Wings of Pegasus channel, analyzed Tori and the song, that’s the proof of not altering her vocal or Jim. Then again Tori is pitch perfect, like Karen was. Dan Wesley saw this video and pondered what it would have been like if Carpenters had actually covered the entire song. He recently made a mini-doc on Tori after RUclips introduced her to him. So he reached out, she had seen his mini-doc and commented, with a piano track in Karen’s key. She responded saying it’s a favorite song but couldn’t find music as it was a man’s hit. A perfect 3 choices to initially hear Tori at her finest Joe ! I've listened to ALL of her songs, the short ones are great but frustrating LOL as I want more, and her duets with Dan are amazing. She really has such a range and resonance beyond anything I've heard in my lifetime other than Karen and Olivia (I love Celine D too) -- and I've been around the horn a long time ;-) Thank you SO MUCH Joe for continuing to get Tori's covers and her own music out there. My last (I think) find was the full length I Need To Be In Love on the Pants On Piano topic channel. She’s only credited as “Tori” so I didn’t see it until a few months ago. Todd in the Shadows is a music RUclipsr who has among other things a series called One Hit Wonderland where he takes a look at the full careers of one hit wonder artists. One you may be interested in since you’re an Aussie is his one on Midnight Oil’s Beds are Burning (Midnight Oils is considered a One Hit Wonder in America I know they’re quite popular in Australia). He has lots if interesting a funny content as a whole though.
