Thanks so much for posting this video! A swarm came to my backyard three years ago and thus began my beekeeping adventure. They are doing great and provide us with delicious honey. However, it's a struggle getting information on the beekeeping process, so I really appreciate this lecture!

Hi, Mister Bush, I'm from Romania trying to start working with bees; your lessons are all very interesting and also very helpful for me, but I cannot enter the site you gave us here! The error message is: "File not found(404 error) If you think what you're looking for should be here, please contact the site owner" Thank you very much.

I think a very important aspect that Mike leaves out here is that it takes a minimum of 3 years for a colony to become established. An established colony will throw swarms every year which is completely natural and should NEVER be stopped by beekeepers.

I like his take on what a strong hive is. I’ve heard many responses to this and no real consensus.

I notice when I do my first spring spit it seems to trigger some of my bees to join up and swarm.Wich is kool when you are there to just guide them into another box.

Try putting the microphone to a bandpass compressor, to a pre-amp, and them to the amplifier before recording. Two microphones zip-tied together - one a cardioid and one a double-loop, held by the speaker often pick up better than a single omni-directional mic. Send a copy to a good sound engineer if you know one, have him enhance it what he can - some of them have automatic enhancing routines for speakers in large rooms and other situations.

With credit to the videographer the room is tough for sound ....real boomy in there. Next time try a lav mic that is closer to subjects mouth. Learning a lot from Michael Bush. And no matter how butt hurt people get over constructive criticism-get over it......we are all learning.. thanks!

I did 10 or 12 cut out queens this year that where successful. I cut them from plastic frames also.Just have to be very careful how you do it.

TheWisendorf I would love to hear how you did cut outs on plastic frames. Been thinking of doing the same and looking for a starting point.

The sound on this is so bad I can't understand it. Dude you need a better mic.

It is what it is. It wasn't the mic... it was a big hall with bad acoustics. We all have good and bad days.

Jason Morgan I'm sorry It came out so badly it looked so promising. in the past I have used a Bluetooth Microphone they start at $75 & will eliminate all the echo. It was obvious from the video you were trying to do a good job.as we all do if thear is anything I can do to help let me know.
      i'm sorry

scott33761 You must have an incredibly low tolerance for low quality videos. Either a young person who was raised in HD land, or someone who has had the benefit of affording top notch technology since it came out, but this video is completely understandable. If you actually just sit and listen, then you might be able to hear words, like I can. I literally have 0 issue understanding what he's saying. If I had the patience, I could type out a transcript.
Goodness the whining is uncalled for. Stop being spoiled.

I was holding a camcorder... yeah, the sound blows, but if you are really interested in the content, it's "usable".
