I think the drip stone caves are fully implemented.
Basically first the cave shape gets generated and later on in the generation things like ores, lava and now also dripstones will be added.
If there is enough free space in the vertical direction there is a chance that the giant dripstones generate.
Since currently only ravines offer that height, these large structures are only found there.
This is just speculation but from a programming point of view, I think this is quite likely. This way the dripstones caves adapt to the cave shape.
However the cave shape generation hasn't been updated yet.
I suppose they want to include all mayor world generation changes in a single snapshot and not spread that out, as that could cause more bugs than necessary.
This is further evidenced by using the "caves" world generation type. The dripstone properly molds to the ceilings and floors of the very different environment. Additionally, those large structures are far more frequent in the greater space provided!

I can already imagine traps that cannot be disarmed in any way except blowing them up. If you have a pulse extender that keeps the trap disarmed while you surround it in blocks, the skulk sensor will trigger if you try to break into the trap, and by using a comparator, you can prevent the trap from going off except if it detects block breaking or placing.

Imagine there being an entire equality of bionic redstone you can grow instead of having to mine for resources like redstone, iron, and stone, which I'm aware are already completely renewable, unfortunately. But they could each need different conditions to grow. And there could be a acheivment for collecting them all.

@@pablopereyra7126 sounds like the moobloom, its useless because flowers are easily renewable and redstone is annoyingly common. If you want redstone cows theres many mods that add them. It's just an alternative option i thought would be nice for people who dont want to mine,I dont think teaching children that mining cows is okay is Microsoft or Mojang want to do. Of course I dont imagine it this way being boring, with the new caves,it will be more fun to explore them, and these bionic components will be something you find deep underground during your journeys, they will be rare, and for some people seeking gamerscore or self satisfaction,it will be a fun challenge to collect them all.

I love the animation of the Skulk Sensor, I just wish the animation of each "tentacle" was moving at different periods of times (like either each tentacle had different speeds of wiggling or each one was delayed by a tiny bit) to give it an almost spooky or venomous feeling... just an idea...

I think the new particle effects work like the "minecraft:dust" particle effect: you need to put extra parameters between the location and the name of the particle to not get an error.
In case of the "minecraft:dust" particle this parameter consists of 4 numbers,
which specify the color and size of the particle (red, green, blue, size).
Xisuma! If you're still reading comments on this video, the reason that vibration particles don't work is because they improperly programmed the suggestion format into the game. However, syntax checking is still working: you can see "expected double" in the error. The reason for this is that you need to feed it 6 numbers before the rest of the command: the X, Y, and Z positions of the source and destination of the vibration particle. If you type a normal /particle command and add 2 coordinates before it, then set the particle to "vibration", then it should create the particle moving between those 2 positions.

Let's be honest Xisumavoid's personality and his voice matches with his bee skin
The occasional redstone particle emitted is a nice touch.
Now all I can think about is a spy mini game on hermitcraft or something where you have to strategically shift to avoid or throw snowballs to overload skulk sensors to sneak through areas
So X has a sculk sensor inside him, sensing when the devs release a snapshot. 😀😅
Hahahaahhahahahhahaha so funni
To the 1% of people who see this, hope you have a wonderful day and stay safe and healthy!
Thx man!! You too
What I'm thinking of is invisible traps. It goes through none-wool blocks, correct? There wouldn't even be a chance of detecting the trap -- there's no pressure plate! You could use the new skulk sensor to open the floor of a hallway and drop them into a deep well of powder-snow. Awesome!
Just gonna come out and say this. These videos are incredible. They are so well edited and well put together and it just has so much information from the snapshots that keep me in the loop with what's going on. I also love how you don't immediately show off a bunch of farms or contraptions before it's even been released. You just show off the features of something and what you can and can't do.
Mumbo must be so happy right now, wool is finally acknowledged as a redstone component :)
Hola :)
Hablas espanõl
Sometimes I ask myself how quick can one cover an entire snapshot. And Xisumavoid has blown my mind with it!
If you create a vibration within the sculk sensor's block (eg throwing a snowball at it), then it outputs maximum signal strength.
I'm already looking at this and thinking of clank systems for decked out season 2, where you could sneak your way through sure and YOU wont be generating clank, but the ravagers are also walking around, making vibrations, so they can make clank even if you're being sneaky. maybe with some wool occlusion systems set up with stealth cards.

I think the capitalisation might be off for the biome name, as the c in caves is not a capital, whereas other biomes such as hills do use a capital.
Ideas to the sculk sensor:
-Make so that when the sensor is in water it makes the area in which it can pickup sound larger.
-Sounds travel and channel through wood when it hits a block of anything wood related and connecting to the sculk sensor.
Fun fact
You can tell where dripstones comes from using their names.

I was just wondering when Xisuma would cover the new snapshot, thanks for doing what you do man!
I hope they add a "skulk visor" or something so that you dont see the vibrations during normal gameplay.
the vibrations are only visible when sculks are nearby I think
Oooh it could be a helmet enchantment
It's actually very useful that the restone strength changes depending on how the sound is to the sensor. Say you want to make a redstone door that opens when you are close. It could be a secret door. A guy is walking by and the door randomly opens, revealing the secret. But, because of the signal strength, you could actually make it so that you can stand right in front of the redstone door for it to open. Very cool!
combine sculk sensors with pistons and tnt minecarts to create an instant detonation invisible landmine system that can kill people who are wearing full netherrite instantly
(u have to place hundreds of tnt minecarts on a single rail for it to work this well)

That intro was one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever seen

About the signal strengths, if you drop on top of the sensor, you get an output of 15, I mapped out the rings to see what the ranges work. Also, those last 4 blocks sticking out of the circle on the ground are 4 of the only 6 blocks in the sphere that make an output of 1.
I love these snapshot videos. You are always so thorough and detailed! It's exciting to keep up to date with what's coming out. I can't wait until the proper update comes out. I've got plans to set up a java server with some friends once it does.
Mojang: ok so here’s another snapshot-
Xisuma: *Uploads a 13 minute quality video all about it*
Mojang: we didn’t even say what we were adding yet
Xisuma:
Personally I think that the skulk sensor shouldn't detect entities in the air.
the other yet to be added skulk blocks should carry vibrations for longer, so you could have a skulk block and you step on it, it should carry the vibration of your footsteps and could be detected with a sensor.
the shift feature is actually pretty powerful when it comes to scary games lol, also minigames and other stuff like that
i feel that the sensors are too squiggly if the animation was slower it would be better

@@dantheman7312 Yeah, that's how suggestions work
@@KidPrarchord95 i know :D
Wait in minecon we saw the sculk sensor was able to pick up other sculk sensors
Maybe they'll add it on a future snapshot
They did it by putting a trapdoor on the side of the skulk sensor. When it hears a sound it powers trapdoor closing it and sending a sound the other skulk sensor can pick up
At 1:31 you got it wrong, the stalactite are the one handing from the ceiling.
If you know a bit of French, here is a tip.
The stalacTites "Tombent" (falling/going down in French),
The stalagMites "Montent" (climbing/going up, in French)
Sadly can't have such a nice way to remember in English.
The /particle minecraft:vibration didn't work because it doesn't use the same parameters as (almost all) other particles. It needs (I'm guessing) 3 doubles after the namespace (similar to the dust particle) which correspond to RGB and size, before the rest of the usual parameters follow.
I never knew fullness was a word until today
Why does the skulk sensor sound like someone that's really hungry
i got super confused when it was gurgling because i thought my stomach was growling
I think the skull sensors should serve as the Wardens eyes. If you're in the detection radius of a skulk sensor, and if a Warden is in the radius of it, it should know your location and come get you.
I did a few tests of this. It doesnt react to noteblocks, jukebox, mob noises, fireworks if the firework is launch directly beside it. It does detect mob noises if they are getting hurt.
Oh sculk sensor works through walls. It would be interesting if the warden could see you through walls like this
Wait a sec... Does Xisuma's comment mean that Bedrock players will be able to build in the void in survival? Since Java players already can.
We can hope :D
How can java players fo that? Thats news to me
Welp In Hermitcraft they can. Maybe that's got something to do with it being a server with.... I don't know
@@realqxji Java edition can build above bedrock in the nether. In bedrock the nether build height is Y=128. In java it's the same as the over world I think (Y=256).
They said in the announcement livestream that cave shape generation and biomes are two independent things, so you can have a lush cave biome in any shape of cave, a dripstone caverns biome in any shape, etc. So this snapshot implemented the *biome* but the generation changes haven't been implemented for anything yet as that's a separate system.

The sculks in the intro were like something straight out of Strangers Things. nice
The line of sight for the sensor seems similar to golem spawn area and old villager range for detecting doors. It is offset to start in the +x, +z corner of the block. Maybe the +y as well.
I really like that the sculk sensor give different redstone outputs depending of what the source is. For example, you can get a signal output only when you close a chest, instead of opening and closing as would do an observer.
Love how a Mumbo finally just made a snapshot video and then this is released.
I have never liked Redstone that much, but with the skulks, I love Redstone! Thanks Xsuma for helping me love redstone!
Cannot wait for Tango to include the sculks in Decked Out V2.0.
I think the expectation of this being useful in Redstone is over hyped. in some situation it's cool, maybe traps is an example, but in general I expect it to be pretty rare.
Xisuma: "...and here, when i take freezing damage..."

You need to watch some more videos :p
When you are so early you beat the bots
The sound the skulk sensor makes in mass reminds me of ice lake/river noises when things hit against it. Would be could to have them underneath ice lakes that are player made
I think it's weird how the signal strength goes from 1 to 2 then from 2 to 14 by steps of 2, instead of from 1 to 15 by steps of 2.
Except, and I think it might be why they did it like that, this block is also comparotor compatible and the signal of a comparator is overwritten by max signal strength 15 so they had to made the maximum output 14.
