I have a feeling these caves will be in the late game. they generate well below the sandstone holding the sand up; you'd have to go below where the current caves generate to get to the new ones, so it won't be a threat. I would love it if the underground reflected the biomes above it though, sort of like terraria
@@willmungas8964 It really is kinda frustrating how much better Terraria is than minecraft at the moment. I'm sure given enough time Minecraft will catch up but even at release Terraria was leaps and bounds ahead of minecraft in terms of core gameplay and progression, even if there isn't as much you can do with it as you can in minecraft.
@@Dudebox64 Minecraft is fine as a 3D simple sandbox, and it has its own nice lore and style. Terraria definitely outdoes it in terms of content, but I think that’s in large part do to the fact that terraria is more of an RPG than a building game honestly. Most of Minecraft’s content centers around large blocks with specific functions and set varieties; terraria’s block palette is both far more varied but also far more random. The progression differences are where terraria really shines, because of its class system and the stages of the world/bosses (and as a result the item tiers). Because of the heavy, heavy focus on combat in terraria (enemies literally constantly spawn), there is just more room for a wide variety of play styles, weapon types, and enemies. Minecraft’s combat doesn’t have much depth to it, and the item progression is essentially the same as it was in the early days (plus netherite). Minecraft has always done ok with it’s simpler survival setting, but I agree it really has so much more potential than it is showing with the currently limited systems it has. Personally I think a copper tools/ armor stage would be a really neat addition, because firstly the ore is really damn common playing in the snapshots, and secondly it could act as an easily acquirable chain mail tier substitute, or maybe an iron substitute but with way less durability ( or charged armor like simplysarcs vid). I think Minecraft has a lot of potential to explore, but with too many limits set by the original simplistic survival game to go all out like Terraria does. I love both games, but for much different reasons; Minecraft was never really combat- or progression-centric, and i think there’s potential for growth in this area, but I play it more for the building and the redstone anyway; terraria has excellent, tight combat and progression and 2d pixel perfection. Love em both, regardless of where each shines :)

Yes. We need more dungeons now more than any previous update. I doubt strongholds and mob rooms would spawn in the lower areas (although, I feel they should make strongholds spawn deeper now).
they should update dungeons too so they’re not just cobblestone boxes. i 100% agree that it’d be sick to just stumble across some castle-like structure with like hidden(or not) mob spawners and chests (edit was a spelling mistake lmao)
I love stumbling across villages and sunken ships out in the world. Even if some structures didn’t serve a purpose other than mystery, I’d love to see them added. Also, fossils. I’d like to stumble upon MUCH bigger fossils while mining around. I’ve played a lot in the new updates and I still haven’t found any of the piddly little ones they added a while ago. I’m really excited for this update!
I think that a possible way to convert world is by: 1) Putting a new block in every chunk, like a new bedrock block to separate new from old chunks 2) If an old chunk is loaded, new bedrock will be filled from Y=0 to Y=-64
Or just check the chunk metadata for what version it was generated in and add a bedrock wall to the edge. No need to add new blocks or create massive cubes.

Or that rock that glows in complete darkness. Or the algae that glows when you move through water. Just... Imagine. you should find sunken expedition shipwrecks down there with diving suit parts so that it's an upgrade to underwater breathing potion but you can't get it without being able to craft potions first (more or less)
I read your reddit post, maybe the serpent even regenerates in it's den as a parallel to the enderdragon, maybe there is one of those cubes too but with less range, would stop people from cheesing and could add to minecrafts lore, dark crystals... 🤔 controling beasts I don't know. But it also wont return to it's den midfight. There could also be a tunnel inside it's den leading to the undersea city, would also be cool if it was inside a glass bubble with air in it. Maybe broken at some points with water flowing down
When showing the mineshaft, you talked about odd generating errors but those floating logs probably where there cause the lava next to it burnt most of it
another problem will be mob spawning. there's a _Lot_ of spawning area underground now, so that has to be considered. maybe make underground biomes more of a thing, and have more semi-lit cave types?
Maybe make it so mobs can't spawn too far away in the y axis? It could also help with lag if they made it so you only generate cubic chunks and you'd actually have to go underground to generate caves.
It's just temporary because they haven't implemented world format upgrading yet. Adding more height means a file format change, and the two different sets of versions don't seem to be compatible out of the box.
I'm guessing he could put everything he has in the Nether or Endlantis and then port those dimensions across, in a worst-case scenario. It's difficult, because clearly it doesn't advantage him, but it'd still be... Cheating? I feel like seeing the pog cave base he'd make.

i realize this makes the "dont dig straight down" rule all the more importnt, as before the only risks you had were either lava that you can easily hear, or a 4-5 block drop. these larger caves seem far taller than 4-5 blocks, and falling from the high ceiling all the way onto the ground of a dark cavern with mobs surrounding you... doesnt seem like an ideal situation
@Darkstar thats how i do it, but most newbs/speedrunners dig straight down single file. surely once this update comes out, though, this will be a more common digging strat
Well, if you were really really unlucky, there was always the chance of digging into a ravine. With even worse luck you could dig into a ravine with lava at the bottom.
Cave Spiders should spawn now in all these huge caves if they are actually "cave" spiders. They are more challenging then normal spiders because they can move faster and can poison players.
If you try to play survival with these caves even on normal, i think it's sometimes kinda difficult aready. There is a lot of space for mobs to spawn and it's expensive on torches if you want to light up everything
night vision already solved the problem but if they really add something like that? its probably an early game item that are not to good to see everythin in the caves. You can probably use flame bows too to shoot to any direction as torches
I hope they can introduce something like a miner's hat, maybe helmet + lantern, which will illuminate surroundings and we don't have to hold a torch and plant torches everywhere while casually exploring the caves
Something like that would be super cool, but would be even cooler to be crafted with new ores or something. I personally really like the telescope and another similiar helmet item like that would be awesome. Imagine something between amethyst and glow berries or something!
Yes absolutely, maybe something with the glow ink or the crystals for crafting. Or maybe a new enchantment for helmets, respiration would be essential for these caves
@@elliswebster7041 well since night vision potions are post nether, an easier option (the helmet) would be a great early alternative. Obviously it wouldn't light up the entire cave, so by the time you have night vision potions you can swap it for them
Personally I'm hoping they give you the ability to put your lantern in your off-hand and have it light the space around you, trading defense for visibility

We surrounded his house in C4, took pictures on my dumb-phone, and blew his house into a crater. Good Times.
@@vinny5638 Another one. That game had anti-flood features so you couldn't break blocks if it would cause a big enough flood of water. So I made walls with water in them that were unbreakable from all but the top. We made a jumping spider arena with the spawner blocks they had for one or two update versions. I made a room full of spawning goblins to guard my base, activated by a lever. I used a teleporter block to teleport a torch and a C4 block so I could nuke anywhere on the map from my bunker as long as I had coordinates. We explored a huge tutorial land map in an rpg version where swimming was a skill and we couldn't get off a tiny boat. @@willmungas8964 YES! That is my
favourite thing about terraria caves
Love em both, regardless of where each shines :)

and there is now a real reason to brew night vision potions
ohh right, those exist
install a nightvision texturepack*
and there is now a real reason to open your .minecraft, open your options.txt and changing gamma to 100
I hope they can introduce something like a miner's hat, maybe helmet + lantern, which will illuminate surroundings and we don't have to hold a torch and plant torches everywhere while casually exploring the caves
Something like that would be super cool, but would be even cooler to be crafted with new ores or something. I personally really like the telescope and another similiar helmet item like that would be awesome.
Imagine something between amethyst and glow berries or something!
We already have night vision potions that don’t get used much
Yes absolutely, maybe something with the glow ink or the crystals for crafting.
Me: seeing how dark and big the caves are and then staring at my torches.
Also me: We’re gonna need a lot of torches
Fuck that. Just bring night vision potions.
You Only Need "Night Vision Resources Pack / Texture Pack"
No Need To Mining Coal Ore To Make A Lot Of Torch,
Or To Make Night Vision Potions.
@@FallFlix Yeah if you want to cheat go ahead.
@@ronconnor2694 I Don't Know Use Night Vision Resource Is Cheat.
@@FallFlix Of course it’s “cheating.” Not that it really matters. It’s your world. I use them sometimes just to help will menial tasks like finding mobs or caves that need to be removed or lit up etc. But most people like classic survival.
I can’t wait for someone to be flying blind in a big cave and then they hit a mob spawner just floating there
That image is sound in my head now
@@velukrishna808 your welcome :)
Watch out for your head and also dont go without night vision
😂😂😂😂
I feel as if we're forgetting that this update is going to be shared with cliffs. imagine how good they're gonna turn out
well they raised the height limit so i'm expecting them to be extremely high. I hope the new mountains are almost as good as the ones Fwip makes
Imagine a cliff with ravine underneath, you're exploring a mountain and turn away for a second and accidentally fall off a cliff only to fall over 200 blocks
@@mickys8065 always look where you're walking
ilmango in his Snapshot video showed amplified world. It's stunning. And that is just kinda old generation
@@WellCookedPotatoes omg yes that'd be so awesome! I am so excited for this version to drop!
"caves are really dark so it might be a bit hard to spot diamonds"

Skeppy has no such weakness
Im a fullbright player lol. I just need torches cuz i might get lost
@@citysaltlake I prefer the immersion of no fullbright in the new update
I play on full bright so...
I'mma be rich boy
I am a dwarf and I’m digging a hole.
Diggy diggy hole
Diggy diggy hole
Am digging a hole !
I'm wondering if "Spaghetti" and "Cheese" were descriptions on the noise maps they were using rather than the caves, because that would make a lot more sense from a visual perspective.
I agree if you'd look straight down it could resemble cheese.

I'd be interested in seeing how the added world depth interacts with ocean generation.
Yeah, better ocean caves and maybe deeper ocean areas as well. I'll never complain about deep dark trenches
Cave systems below the ocean with GIANT ocean ravines and glow squid swimming in the dark deep sea water?
- C O O L
Soo DEEPSEA then?
Caves and Cliffs secretly an Ocean Abyss update confirmed.
Ocean generation is the same, but the depth underneath is way different
Speed runners must be having a panic attack right now
dream would be dreaming on making a new record on this update
1.17 would be in the same category as 1.16, but most runners will definitely still use 1.16.1 because of the increased pearl droprates and no piglin brutes
I think they've been having one since 1.16, especially when pearl rates dropped and piglin brutes were added
@@ChillGuyRUclips no wonder why he chickened out chose glow squid over iceoleger
The new caves system and Warden are already a pain in the ass why add another one lmfaoo
@@rane7784 speedrunners rarely ever need to go on mountains
I'm bragging here, but back when me and my friends played Total Miner Forge the best three dollars I ever spent. We would dig a thousand blocks up in the dark.
That game was 2,000 blocks deep, with two giant undergrounds that spanned the entire map. I really liked that game. But I really like mintkraft too.
that was the most magnificent part of that game and then the hellworld they had at the bottom was pretty cool too
@@vinny5638 Okay story time.
I played it with three brothers. I was not a brother tho. We managed to get down to the bottom level, where we found the titanium or some end game metal. It sold (the game had a store I guess you know) for a game breaking amount. We found out the youngest brother stole some when he had like a billion gold out of nowhere.
Diablo rose from the ground one day and somehow my friend's house caught fire and burned to the ground so I built a stature over the ruins cause it was funny.
Such a good ass three dollars spent, highly recomend.
Srry for talking your ear off lol.
