You know what would be a really cool idea for the spore blossom? The ability to use it to create ambient particles of any type. This could work a few ways: putting it on top of certain blocks, putting certain items on it, crafting it with certain items. Particles are something that can really enhance a build, and giving players the ability to manipulate them in survival would be really cool. You could even have a way to change the way they come out of a blossom; having a smaller/larger area covered, density, direction they travel. These could really add a new element to establishing an atmosphere in a build
i think density and area covered should be related to powering it at certain power levels. for example, a weak signal decreases it slightly, while a full signal like from a redstone block would turn it off completely
I had a neat idea for a burned down or burning build, having red particles like that would be great for embers in the air, or grey for smoke and ash. Hopefully someone will make a mod or plugin for this...
Fuck, I've dropped the game for a while, once the nether update happened. I made a Hardcore survival, got pretty far, but got bored. Made another hardcore world for this snapshot, and so far..I recognize VERY little about the caves, like they made them so much better! I'm not too far in yet, haven't reached the nether yet. But so far with the cave system, I saw 2 giant paths which lead to dead ends, but this tiny, like, 3x2 path buried under some gravel, actually lead to a giant ravine, and then that! lead to a dungeon, and 2 giant craters of deepslated caves. They really nailed this update so far! Can't wait till the warden get's added in.
In my opinion I’d rather it just be called “slate” then “deepslate”. I feel like it would fit better with other blocks I guess? Like you have stone, granite, diorite, gravel, then ‘deepslate’; but what if it was just stone, granite, diorite, gravel, and slate? Maybe it’s just me
Yeah it'd certainly be a simpler name, although maybe they're trying to distance it a little from real slate since they're not quite the same with all the different textures and such?
Yeah, but i think grimstone would fit more, as we have normal stone and blackstone. Blackstone spawns in the nether. And grimstone would spawn below y=0.
True, although real slate is commonly found on the surface, especially in and around rivers. So this could be future-proofing against one day deciding to add surface slate?
Calling it now: When its time to add in mountains we'll see chalk cliffs made from calcite. Swapping Tuff with smooth basalt and making it into a depths block was the perfect choice: I love the way tuff sounds and can't wait to have chests full of the stuff!
I keep having to restrain myself from building a giant underground castle in these snapshots because I know that a week later a snapshot's gonna come out with even cooler features
I know this may seem off topic suggestion, but Particles from Basalt Delta on Nether shouldn't able to enter the interior of buildings if it's enclosed similar to rain or the particle from that plant in this video
This snapshot is a huge improvement, especially with the textures. I do think deepslate should have the slate texture on all sides so that it looks more natural in all cases and so that it can be better used in building.
Exactly what I was thinking when he showed off that block; it needs to be uniform on all sides. Not even necessarily for building, but just in general.
I think it works best being like this by default, then having a craftable alternative with the texture on all sides. As it stands, it tiles far more interestingly than stone, giving caves deeper down a more distinct look in comparison than just a different looking stone could on its own. I also think the top texture makes a great flooring block
Hmm... In Godzilla king of all monsters they talked about an extensive underwater cave system below the ocean floor. That concept would be great in minecraft
@@thetele8646 They definitely are adding cave variants. We saw one in Minecon Live earlier in 2020 with the plants and whatnot. Pretty sure one of the devs confirmed on Twitter that they have plenty of variants planned.

Also the addition of deepslate ores is something i'm personally second guessing mainly for Iron and gold as it becomes another part of inventory management with new blocks.

I don't think it's going to be that big of an issue. The only thing it affects is world generation and new chunks. Actual gameplay wouldn't be affected much.
If I heard right in Rays Works's video, the new cave generation is actually more efficient than the old one, to the point where they're trying to reduce the amount of old Cave Carvers and replace them with more of the new Noise Caves. Which makes sense, because Perlin noise is very easy to generate, and it looks like the new system is just applying different filters and thresholds on top of noise generation.
I think a great solution to the fact that with 2 variations of each ore, regular and deepslate, your inventory will fill up with ores twice as fast because you can't combine deepslate and normal ore stacks is to make it so that ores don't drop ore blocks when mined, but a "crude" or "rough" form of the ore, so that iron ore and deepslate ores will each drop crude/rough iron, meaning you could stack them together but would of course still have to smelt them.
When I read your idea it sounded a little weird, but thinking about it, yeah that's a really good idea! That would absolutely solve the multiple ore problem without changing how the game works at all!
Grimstone was cool name. They should revert back to it and make deepslate its own block. It would be neat to find deep underground for more texture variance since only tuff is there too.
5:05 I disagree as both ores drop different amounts of gold so it makes sense that the nether gold which drops nuggets looks like it has nugget pieces in it while the regular gold which gives you bars looks like it could contain a bar
Inventory issue is becoming ever more an issue with these extra blocks now. Hopefully they take it into account and actually try to work for a solution! Unpopular opinion: the name deepslate is better than grimstone Deepslate sounds cleaner and isn’t as foreboding as grindstone while still keeping the deep dark feel Grimstone sets the stage for how it is supposed to look though the craftable variants such as tiles could be used in a much different aesthetic than spööky
I really liked the name grimstone, but it didn't match that stone. When I first saw the name I thought they were adding a new fantasy ore which would be really cool. Since the only fantasy ore in Minecraft is actually redstone. Even nether quartz is just quartz.
Imagine in the Snowy Biomes the Dripstone cave will become an Icy Variant making cave exploring in the Snowy Mountains or deep within the Ice Cave more dangerous
So I've got a bit of an annoyance with all the stone variants, blackstone, stone, and deepslate. When they added blackstone, they had a different hierarchy than regular stone. Instead of smelting blackstone into a smooth variant, you crafted it into a polished variant, and from the polished variant you can make bricks, chiseled blackstone, and all the other stuff you could want. The difference in blackstone and stone, besides the texture, is the crafting recipes used to make the other types of blocks. However, this can be overlooked from a lore perspective because it spawns in the nether, and like the nether wood, can't be smelted etc. etc... Now with the deepslate, they've done something similar and used different crafting recipes to make these blocks. Maybe they haven't added this yet, but so far the only way to obtain deepslate is with silk touch. The other interesting thing is you can make polished deepslate from 4 cobbled deepslate, and chiseled deepslate from 2 cobbled deepslate slabs vs the polished deepslate equivalent to stone, smooth stone, being created from smelting regular stone and the chiseled deepslate equivalent of stone, chiseled stone bricks, being created from 2 stone brick slabs. Following this, I think they should make the recipes for both stone and deepslate to be the same, as in smelting cobbled deepslate gets deepslate, smelting deepslate gets smooth deepslate, etc.. I think they should add cracked deepslate bricks, mossy deepslate bricks, and mossy cobbled deepslate along with their respective walls, stairs and slabs. But what I think they should also is a stone tile variant, a blackstone tile variant, polished stone with 4 cobblestone, and their respective walls, slabs, and stairs. Now since currently there is no distinction between cobbled deepslate and deepslate in their side texture, there is pretty much no need to add a deepslate version since it would look identical to the cobbled deepslate. I think the textures on these blocks are unique enough to bring about additions like these, but I do see that there would then be a large amount of stone blocks and variants being added. However, they kinda did this to themselves by adding a tile variant and a polished deepslate variant and not having a stone tile variant or a polished stone variant
I mean, I don't think it'd be as big of an issue. Adding more stone variants would make the stonecutter feel less vacant. Hell, I think they should add pillars as well as smaller brick variants for every stone type. Then, they could just add a new slot in the creative UI for stone.
Hey, psst, psst, you, yes, you, person who made this comment. The ore distribution chart shows Lapis with a rectangular and triangular representation with only the rectangle stating "No air exposure". From my observations, that does not mean Lapis would generate encased all the time now, but rather, the frequency of which you'll find Lapis encased (i.e by strip mining or the like) is a constant frequency than that of finding Lapis exposed to air blocks which is dependent on the Y level. In other words, encased Lapis chances of spawning is constant while exposed Lapis chances of spawning is still dependent on the Y level. When it comes to the Diamonds and Gold having "Reduced air exposure"; Diamond and Gold ores will have some blocks being encased more often rather than being exposed to air yet the frequency of ore spawn still abides by the Y level-dependent ore distribution regardless if it's encased or not. Sure you are on the level of which Gold/Diamonds have a higher chance of being spotted, but some of those blocks aren't exposed and requires you to mine blocks to find it.
I love the change to the blossom particle effects! At first I was really disappointed, when they were basically just dripping blocks. This Is perfect! These could really add a new element to establishing an atmosphere in a build
put this idea on both r/minecraftsuggestions and the official website. hopefully soneone sees it because that would be cool.
that’s a super interesting concept...it’s as if whatever the plant “breathes” in, it releases in the form of particles.
i think density and area covered should be related to powering it at certain power levels. for example, a weak signal decreases it slightly, while a full signal like from a redstone block would turn it off completely

Caves are still dark but i think it being dark is cool
In my opinion I’d rather it just be called “slate” then “deepslate”. I feel like it would fit better with other blocks I guess? Like you have stone, granite, diorite, gravel, then ‘deepslate’; but what if it was just stone, granite, diorite, gravel, and slate?

This snapshot is a huge improvement, especially with the textures. I do think deepslate should have the slate texture on all sides so that it looks more natural in all cases and so that it can be better used in building.
Those new ores look terrible though.
There is a cobble variant of the deep slate which has the texture on all sides

I don't think it's going to be that big of an issue. The only thing it affects is world generation and new chunks. Actual gameplay wouldn't be affected much.
If I heard right in Rays Works's video, the new cave generation is actually more efficient than the old one, to the point where they're trying to reduce the amount of old Cave Carvers and replace them with more of the new Noise Caves. Which makes sense, because Perlin noise is very easy to generate, and it looks like the new system is just applying different filters and thresholds on top of noise generation.

I like how nicely blended some of the ores look.
I've seen some of the blending patterns on r/detailcraft and it's super exciting to see the block palette expand.

Deepslate sounds cleaner and isn’t as foreboding as grindstone while still keeping the deep dark feel
Grimstone sets the stage for how it is supposed to look though the craftable variants such as tiles could be used in a much different aesthetic than spööky
I agree. Grimstone is also too similar to Blackstone. I'm sure otherwise many people would be confusing the names
it makes more sense for it being called deepslate since it actually is a type of stone in real life
Welp ig this is a popular opinion then lmao
Deepslate just doesn't have the ring to it, Grimstone forever
However, they kinda did this to themselves by adding a tile variant and a polished deepslate variant and not having a stone tile variant or a polished stone variant
k
I like these suggestions.
I mean, I don't think it'd be as big of an issue. Adding more stone variants would make the stonecutter feel less vacant. Hell, I think they should add pillars as well as smaller brick variants for every stone type. Then, they could just add a new slot in the creative UI for stone.

@@RexusprimeIX but it only works with the normal deep slate rather then all its variants (same with stone) so if you have a house only made of the stuff then it’ll be a problem
My takes on the stuff:
-New ores, cool. I still think they need to be universally stackable for the smeltable ores - maybe something like "Rough Gold" or "Rough Iron" for the smeltable ores, letting you stack them all.
-They're most likely using the top texture of "Deepslate" as a test on how it looks in the caves or something, but having it all around would be preferable.
-Also on Deepslate, it's a cool name and all, but Grimstone not only works as a more dreary block name, but also goes in line with the other stone variants (especially Blackstone).
-The spore radius probably needs to be toned down? Like it's cool it spreads but maybe don't do it that much lol
-I see a lot of people don't actually like the new textures for ores, but I think they look really cool! Except iron. I dunno why, I just don't like it as much.
-The "Deepslate" mineshafts look really neat with the chains. That's all, I just like them.
-I like how the more useful ores (especially diamond) are less common to appear on the surface. It definitely means that, even with large caves, you'll need to search well for some!

Me: Deep fried stone bricks
For some reason this made me internally hear bass boosted audio of "Y'all got any of them *stone bricks?*"

I feel like deepslate should have the texture on all sides, one it's a nice texture and two it looks really weird changing from the top to the side
Thats how sedimentary rocks look irl tho, super smooth and clean on the surface, cracked and layered on the sides
@@lucan3k532 I mean yeah but this is minecraft and I would just be nice to at least have a variant that has that texture on the side I think It would work nice as a wall or something
@@darkstone2583 maybe you would be able to get that by melting deepslate to become smooth deepslate just like stone becomes smooth stone
Gold ore should NOT be the same as nether gold ore Xisuma, they behave differently. Nether gold ore drops nuggets
Unless you mine it with silk touch
I mean, nether gold ore is actually realistic. In real life, if you were mining and found an ore deposit, you would take out the little bits of metal from the rock with a smaller one handed pick or chisel, rather than taking a big chunk of rock home with you and melting it to get the metal out.
If you silk touch N gold ore and smelt it, you get ingots instead of nuggets. Actually pretty cool because you can significantly reduce mining time for base amounts.
@@pre-d I'm aware
@@eness379 you don't need silk touch for gold ore though? Nether Gold needs ST for the block but normal gold doesn't
I'm glad the stone diamond version still exist
Xisuma when he demos block sounds:
*AND HERE ARE THE SOUNDS OF THE NEW BLOCKS!*
(Starts breaking and placing blocks)
*proceeds to yell into the microphone*
infested stones in the deepslate level be like minesweeper

FRICKING POGGGGG, LETS GOOOOOO. Man imagine you're just casually mining and finds a huge Lush Caves the size of the one at 8:53 , that would be breath taking
The thing I’ve been wondering is will we be able to insta-mine slate with haste 2? That could complicate speed mining...
No,u cant
Nope.
Maybe with a gold pick but not netherite
Nope, not even haste 3 can
@@catchara1496 Gold pick cannot instamine it either
“Crack cavers” yeah that’s gonna be every caver once the update drops.
That sounds very sexually diverse. Which is totally fine.
