‘’My Time Has Come’’
I imagine that the light block as it is would be very difficult to implement in survival without breaking immersion.
But I can imagine a couple ways to implement something similar. Like, why not give a proper use to the glow squid? For example, you might take the glow ink and smelt it to make glow powder (or something like that, idk), then you right click a block with that and it becomes a light faint source, the more you use on a single block the stronger it get.

1:09 that goat went straight flying!! she is possessed I knew that from the beginning!
Its just easily simple if they want to add the "light block" in survival, i think.
Make it so the glow ink (glow squid drop) can be right clicked on a surface similarly to string, and the more you glow ink you spend, the brighter it is.

Minecraft 1.47: every world is Italy and all mobs have moustaches
Hey X, you should be able to "break" the light-block by placing another block on the spot it occupies (at least that's how it is on Bedrock).
I can confirm: in BE it works that way
In JE, it also works.
Adding the light block in survival, about as likely as the debug stick.
I'd like to see more utility based tools like this added, great for mapmaking and builds.
Like there is a way to spawn an end portal block with custom coordinates, and you could also make command blocks, but a dedicated portal-block tool would be nice.
I'm just sitting here waiting for the Warden's caves and new structures to be implemented.
Am I the only one when first seeing the light block thought about making a dynamic lights in vanilla data pack.
That actually might be possible
But it also could be kinda jank looking
It was literally the first thing that came into my mind!
This has been done in bedrock edition where light blocks have been a thing for years.
etho would be pleased lol. hes tried to make some vanilla contraptions for it but it wont be as seamless as this
That's literally what we use in bedrock edition to have fancy dynamic lighting
I really like the idea of invisible light sources in survival honestly, I feel like a good way to implement it into survival would to be able to use glowberries on blocks to turn them into light sources, much like applying beeswax to copper blocks. Cant wait for caves and cliffs to release!
These had been forever in bedrock editipn, so i already knew about them
Too bad it's only available in creative.

On Bedrock the light block was already there for a pretty long time.
On a realm I play we can trade unused torches for light blocks.
If you want to get rid of the lightblocks, just place a solid block where the light block is.
on technical java servers people can overload the lighting engine then remove/add blocks without changing the light, which is essentially the same thing but possible in survival without cheats
@Vegan Life imagine not being able to do it in survival without cheats
and that can be said for most java features anyways
@Vegan Life I WISH bedrock were better, but the modding capabilities, the redstone, the off-hand items, combat, and more just make Java so much better
@Vegan Life imagine thinking that bedrock is better lmao...
I didn't told this to start a discussion about wich version is better. They both have their pros and cons.
Hapoy Easter all
On the topic of light, I really want to get the Minecraft developers to add a crystal caves biome with crystals that emit different colors of light.
For example, a red crystal would light things up in a way where the other blocks around it would look tinted red. Just imagine walking into a cave with tons of red, purple, green, and blue lights glowing all around.
light block just made me realize you should be able to right click on lanterns (surround a torch with iron nuggets) to turn them on/off or adjust their brightness. just like a real lamp
They should make a similar mechanic to the waxing of copperblocks:
Glowsquids are rare so it would be cool if they dropped "Glowing ink" and if mixed with Honeycomb you can get "Glow Wax" and you can wax a block for it to emit light. Only solid spawnable blocks can be Glow waxed, and as a penalty for the lack of object, they should acquire a texure overlay that makes them have little shines, kinda like glass, that has white pixels.
Thats my take on how to bring invisible lightsources to the game
You could even "add levels of wax" or maybe even make more complicated recipees, for example right clicking the Glowing Waxed block with glowstone can level up the intensity, and using an item to lower its "wax level" like regular ink sack could work to lower it, making it so to get invisible lightsources, you have to farm the items, craft them, and then consume either glowstone and ink sacks to adjust it. makes it a fair mechanic and it fits well with the idea of waxing blocks, it wont limit it to copper only and will even make copper a less "alien block" since all blocks dont have mechanics like copper does.
A random thought just popped into my head, about the lore behind the glow squid. 'One day 2 squid found their way into a underwater cave, however they couldn't find their way out. Trapped inside they ate the only food source available to them; the glow lichen. After a few years of consuming this it eventually caused they themselves to glow, and they passed that trait onto their children'
that's actually nice lore
Then a random player saw them. Then said :
"WTF is this mojang, why did you add these. There is no point of adding them they just glow for themselves."
After saying that, he proceeds to kill all the Glowsquids then go into creative mod just to put some commands block and use these command blocks to insta-kill all the glowsquids spawned.
And that player is... **me**.
@@qr-code6334 thx m8. Apparently Mojang have their own lore for the game and I wouldn't be surprised if the glowsquid did have lore it would be similar to this
If you need the bedrock command for killing all glow squids it is:
/kill @e[type=glow_squid]
Put this on a repeating always active
I don't know java commands well enough.

9:09 Now I might actually run into one of these things. I haven’t seen them in survival Minecraft yet, since they spawn in only snow biomes/a certain snow biome I forget the name of, and I haven’t discovered that biome in my playthroughs yet. So that’s cool!

Light blocks already currently exist in bedrock edition. On our server we have a data pack that uses glass bottles and blaze rods for a crafting recipe.
But the functionality of actively changing the light level isn't something that existed before, same with the ability to see the source when holding the light block. Hopefully those interactions make it to bedrock with the update.
