Your welcome 🤗
So the answer is them saying "It's too complicated and would take too long. Please be gentle, we're small indie company."
In a nutshell, they are lazy and making excuses.
DEFINITELY a small indie company... DEFINITELY not owned by Microsoft
boat_speed += 5;
player_reach += 2;
wolf_damage -= 4;
There. I coded all 3 mobs when the billion dollar company couldn't. 😂
And yet they can make the infinite worlds and poisonous potato update
@@polarphyInfinite worlds were a failure as the further you go out the more the code breaks.
Ideally the world’s code would stay the same regardless of how far you travel.
At this point Mojang could make a full update out of losing mobs and biomes
Ya know what? Not a bad idea
I second this idea as a crab lover and penguin enjoyer.
For some reason the first thing that came to my mind when I read this comment was:
"Capitalism Update"
I don't know
@@BOXMAN2018 Not Capitalism. This has to do with how broken a pure Democracy is. It would be called the "Runner Up-date"
you must be a fetus if you don't remember that they promised that years ago, but never delivered.
A big problem with the phantom is that they didn’t fully convey what all it would do. Mojang was secretive on details and now they openly joke about the community making a mistake on when it was something they caused. The phantom could easily be adjusted too, but Mojang refuses QoL updates unless it’s something they’re working on at the time
You can literally disable phantoms, also people were like “cool, flying mob” I don’t blame them.
@@end_slayer You know what else is a cool flying mob? Dragons, parrots, even bats are less annoying. Being able to disable them doesn't change that they're trash; it actually emphasizes how bad it is by needing it to begin with.

Meanwhile modders making the new mobs from zero in few days:
Yeah. I remember it was I don’t even think a whole DAY after the vote and I saw a video of somebody checking out a mod that had all three mobs, although not optimized but still almost completely done.
If it was so easy kingbdogz (the man who made ather now a mojang dev) would have made an entire dimension all by himself
Mod devs can just implement a block and add it to the game. But Mojang would have to implement a feature and modify the games code so nothing breaks and they have to do it again in bedrock edition. Bedrock edition is written in C++ and Java edition is written in Java. Those are extremely hard languages to learn
@@MasterProgrammer423 don't recompilers exist that compiled code that is in the form of machine code that was converted from java script and recompile it in to another coding language

“Highly selective with quality control”…. glow squid just being a retexture lmao
Hey now, it also makes a funny noise. And they had to retexture the ink sacs, too. That's a lot of work, man.
@@Netist_ i know you're joking but man, i bet some dude can make that mod and the glowing items in a day
@@artluka0727 No way man, don't underestimate a modder like that. They would actually make it GLOW
@@businesscactus someone probably dropped a mod to make the squid glow in no time anyways
You do realize that the Glow Squid was part of the Caves and Cliffs update, right? you know, the one that required a rewrite of the world generation code because they increased the block height, added underground biomes which required a second biome selection code, as well as the deep dark? That means 3 biomes per chunk, and that's not even going into all the new blocks, items, and features that were also included in that update.
"People seem to think that we have all three mobs ready to go"
Respectfully my dude the Moobloom is literally just a yellow cow, it already DOES exist in the game it's just red. You can't expect me to believe that would be too time/resource-intensive to implement.
Didn't a modder do all 3 recent mobs in mob votes
Well they have to blend them in the game or people will just complain that "It does not feel minecrafty enough"
@@assamination1407 Idk man, the sniffer is pretty not Minecrafty. Minecraft is not a story game and it does not take place in the past or future, so adding an "ancient animal" doesn't really make sense, and it makes me feel like Mojang is just coming up with new stuff and taking that risk (Which is what makes it feel different in a bad way imo) rather than trying to enhance the stuff that people already like.
@@assamination1407 I don’t think they’ve done a single mob vote mob that cant fit into the game really easily
@@OneBoss118 minecraft is literally a sandbox game, anything can be added
Mojang APPARANTLY treats the Mob Votes and the Biome Votes the same... So when they said that the Biome Votes would be confirmed to be added later, they were also saying that the Mob Vote mobs would also be added later. They just foolishly assumed the community would understand this, and because Jeb said the mob vote mobs would be scrapped in the first mob vote, everyone assumed this was also true for the later ones. They never officially confirmed it until just last year after the "add all three" fiasco.
I see you everywhere. Also yeah it's so stupid just add the mobs because what makes it worse is the fact that people know they're never getting it ever again unless they change their mind.
And I understand why they don't want to add all three at once, because at the same time they have to practically recode ALOT of features to prevent bugs, mod makers also take a long time on making big mods that overhaul the game in a similar way an update would, but they don't have to make it as functional as possible because they don't work for a big ( and very controlling) company, and payed poorly to do so
You forgot about the entire REVOLUTION that started last year because of the vote
it didnt achieved anything lol
@@indig0283 good on them

1.22 should just concentrate on implementing all of the biomes and mobs from the previous votes, it would make the game better, more fun and it would make everyone happy
Nah
1.22 should be the end update
And then 1.23 should add everything from the mob and biome votes

I remember the first one. Most people assumed Mojang was just doing some fun community engagement thing, and that they were going to add the rest of them anyway. Little did we know, that wasn't actually going to happen. It's hard not to see Mojang as lazy in al this, since none of these creatures have terribly complicated behavior, and modders were able to add all three of them to the game in a few days, before the vote was even over.

Hate to break it to everyone, but whenever companies do polls, most of the time it is geared to know exactly who will win by picking 1 obviously more popular option. For example, expecting China to pick anything except a Panda is silly, so they can begin development a bit early, drum up some attension towards the product for free on something they were already planning on doing. Upsets do happen, like the glowsquid, but either they saw it was super easy to create and add so they didn’t care or that was their planned winner anyways (if it wasn’t they could have just easily called out whichever Paul brother messed around with the vote and picked second place instead)
tbf all of the mobs from the last mob vote would be extremely easy to make. I genuinely can't think of a reason that they couldn't add 2 more mobs that literally do 1 thing.
A few years ago, i probally would have defended mojang for slow content. But there's no excuse for it anymore. Other games manage to add more content in a shorter amount of time. I mean 1 UPDATE a year, with most of the time only around 10 new and unique features that aren't just filler. And their excuse of "we have to make it in two seperate versions" is so stupid. Because this issue, is something they created for themselves by making the game into two vastly different versions. No other gaming studio has to deal with remaking features in two seperate versions, it's only mojang. This is an issue they created for themselves, that they could fix if they put in the effort, but they haven't. So thats not an excuse.
That's something I've always been confused about, like why did they make two different versions it's like doing double the work, and it's annoying that features are not the same for both versions
@@carsonr3909 Not to mention, each version of the game has their OWN STUDIO working on it. There is absolutely no excuse when you have 2 entire teams with millions of dollars at their disposal
@@carsonr3909 I'm not sure how bedrock works exactly but I'm pretty sure most of the features are meant to accomodate the obvious vulnerabilities that using a controller provides in a game like Minecraft. I mean some changes are uneccessary like redstone, but most of it is probably for the controller reason.
Mojang should consider fixing that problem by simply making java and bedrock the same thing. What's the point of having a border between us?
So many platforms, quality checks, retextures, and you guys just try to ignore and be a person who does not know anything about how the office is managed
New Minecraft update - The Long Lost Friends Update - Adds all the losers from the mob votes. I kid, mostly. You know why they do this? Marketing. Metrics. I promise you there's some nasally guy in the office with a clipboard saying "Microsoft needs us to drive engagement!!" and so every year its thunderdome. I guarantee you that's what its about.
This comment section is brain dead. Full of children that have no idea of what they're talking about.
They like to pretend we create the game together.. but then you have to ask why we didnt vote on the Camel or the Cherry Trees, you see? They're prefectly capable without our input, so why even bother to begin with, you feel me?
Yeah I've been saying this for a while.
They only do it because nobody would watch minecraft live otherwise.
I dont even want an update that brings back the losers because I don't want to see how underwhelming it would be. I think they knowingly make every mob useless
Mojang's trained proffesional programmers: We can't make 3 WHOLE MOBS! Are you crazy?
Modders with a homemade PC open to Java: You want to fight Godzilla while building a nuclear reactor? I got you.
exactly. One of the mobs was literally just a cow with a flower on its back. The excuse that it would be so much work to add it is total bs
Yeah this is what i always cite when people defend this, i get the pipeline is a bit more complicated, but modder literally have completed sometimes more feature rich versions of ALL three mobs within a month of the mob vote being revealed, yet Mojang is turning around and claiming with one of the biggest games in the world, backed by one of the biggest studios in the world and 11 extra months of time, they cant implement what that modder did.
Except it isn't just three mobs, it's an entire update, which just by this comment I can tell you don't understand how software development works nor have any of your own opinion outside of the people you follow.
Mojang works on an entire update and gives the mobs that aren't important to the community to choose which one is added in and the rest are scrapped for later. Meanwhile, the modders spend entire years (that you always ignore) making their highly complicated mod that focuses on just the mod itself and not a huge gamewide update, which is also optional to download. It only looks easy to you guys because you don't see the time it takes for the mod to be made with only 3-4 people working on it, only how cool it looks and how you can compare it to what's being done in the base game on an actual reasonable amount of time.
@@TrixyTrixter because it didn't win, so it's not added in, are... are you stupid?
@@XillStuff As i mentioned in my comment modders created all three mobs within a month of the announcement, even the argument that Mojang is creating the rest of the update so its just too far out of the scope for a annual update holds little water, because this was not a problem 4 years ago. When Mojang made the nether update, which added 2 new mobs and rework 1 old one, 4 new biomes and a new structure and several minor ones, among a peppering of other content. Yet nowdays feasibility of crabs and penguins is out of their scope because they added 1 new structure and some autocrafting things and a breeze. Come on XD.
I just cannot agree with the “we don’t have all of them coded and polished in the span of a year” answer because I’ve seen what cracked out modders can make in like 3 days
The Fact that they said the glowsquid can hypnotise you is pretty sad that they didn’t even added that if it had that feature it would be a little bit better
No, they didn't say it could. They just did that in the animation as a joke.
@@addison_v_ertisement1678That doesn’t really change anything. They put it in the preview video and didn’t clarify whether or not it was a joke. Why shouldn’t we have believed it was a feature?
Something you didn't touch on is how the obvious win mob is always so blatant with its favoritism. As an adamant hater of the sniffer it seems so obvious to me how they tried to hide information to make it sound cooler than it ended up being. Everyone I talked to assumed the new plant would be a new food item or crop, because they just said it would come with a "New plant" in the videos, but if you went to the website and looked, it clarified a decorative block with no further purpose. But they didn't say that in the video. They showed it digging up ancient seeds and said it would be a new plant. Seeds, which, up until this point, had exclusively been used for foodstuffs and farms. There's also the fact that it was clearly the one that fit the archeology update, and was the most fleshed out. Like, by a country mile. Honestly they didn't even try to make the others sound cool, and I voted for the tuff golem because I legitimately preferred their feature to the other two.
So what you're really critisising is that most people who vote in a mob vote don't inform themselves as extensively as you do.
Personally, I've stopped participating in votes entirely. It's a far more peaceful existence that way - I get all the features with none of the drama.
"fitting the archeology update" means nothing here, at the time of the vote we did not know that 1.20 was going to have archeology in it
all three of the mobs wouldve fit the 1.20 update, with its larger focus on exploration (rascal) & player expression (tuff golem, kinda)
so looking at the vote through the lens of archeology is kinda a moot point i feel
@@sorrowandsufferin924 "It's not the casinos fault you are a gambling addict". This is the metaphorical equivalency of what you are saying. Personal responsibility is still held by those accommodating the event (which is why gambling laws exist). That means the responsibility falls on MOJANG to actually "try" to "properly inform" the people on what they are voting on.
It is up to the HOST to be the fact checkers. It should not be up to the community to self govern and police eachother. You gotta remember, alot of the people voting are little kids who are dumb and won't believe anything other than what the stupid little snotts want to believe unless the devs themselves say otherwise. What we have here is an irresponsibility on both the voters front AND on mojangs front. . . and you can't expect the internet to be responsibly, so that means the only one capable of responsibility is the company. . . and they aren't being such when they explain things poorly and do nothing to remedy such as issues arise. You will have people in the live chat, in the reveal trailers, even on twitter doing damage control for mojangs POOR explanations before the vote even goes live. Mojang could be responsible and actually try to notice the "community damage control efforts" and actually aid in it. There is a job position in the game development responsible for doing just that. It's called a "Community Manager". They EXTREMELY lack this when it comes to the mob votes.
@@arandomcreatureontheinternet15 It doesn't matter what "we knew". The post is talking about DEV favoritism. Meaning what matters is what the "devs knew".
He's arguing that the devs tried to force the archeology mob to win to make archeology (the thing they were working on) play even more into the update. He's arguing that the devs tried to rig the vote maliciously. Same could be argued with the dog armor since 1.21 was the "combat update".
@@Hadeks_Marow again, the update was not just about archeology, it was about exploration and player expression, something all the mobs fit into
and all three mobs for the most recent mob also fit into the stated theme of combat adventures and tinkering
i really dont think there is dev favoritism going on
16:00 I've always hated that. They add so much bloat to the game while pretending they pretend to be highly selective with quality control. If that was the case, why do new features keep being added in every update yet not a single one interacts with previous features? They keep adding more and more bloat with around only have of the features of an update actually expanding the gameplay.
One example is the Sniffer.
The copper bulb would be a great exemple : during snapshot time, they were truly game-changing redstone wise but they reverted the chnage making them a retextured redstone lamp...
its half not have, i had a stroke reading that part
I've been saying this for YEARS. It's the same reason that some people say "Minecraft isn't getting enough updates" while other people say "Minecraft is getting too many updates and the game is oversaturated". They're both right. Mojang keeps adding tons and tons of useless features that overcomplicate the game for no reason while adding nothing of value.
For example, the glow squid, glow ink sacs, and glow item frame. Those are 3 new features that make the game just a little more oversaturated and clog your inventory, meanwhile they could've added those features in a much more elegant way. Just add the ability to make signs/item frames glow using glowstone dust. That way you get the exact same features without the extra hassle.
For a company that preaches "quality control" and "smart game design" so much, you'd think they'd be able to come up with solutions for these problems they're creating.
@@CraftBlade240 I caught the mistakes but kept them as I have very high-quality control standards.
Minecraft: "Making 3 mobs is complicated"
Minecraft modders: Are you sure about that?
yes, features which do not be boring, useless or overpowered, refining textures to what the game needs to be like, animations which are simple but yet good, part movement of the mob being smooth but variable and implementation with damaging blocks or blocks with variable properties
@user-zd2xj9rl2z with all due respect but that'd be if you were creating the first mob ever. They have natural properties for a 'base' mob. The only differential that'd need to be done 'from scratch' is the mob specific feature; WHICH more often than not is a shitty drop.
@@YTDPROMISE Breeze has a different head, different rod spinning style and a different projectile, with 3D animations and has a special property of jumping with particles coming out of ground wherever it moves. The base mob 'Blaze' has been heavily modified, it has totally different properties except being a Wind Version logically
@user-zd2xj9rl2z Heavily modified is still very much easier than created from scratch, I promise you. There is no excuse for a company with as much capital as it has to struggle with 3 mobs..per what? Year?
@@YTDPROMISE Bruh mob votes add extra mobs, what's your problem? The other mobs would be added later, but in a fitting update. The Copper Golem cant climb and jump onto other platforms like the players do, being the reason why those golems were not added in this update. They would better fit if other structures come by. The Developers literally said that it is ready and is developed, just which mob the community wants is to be implemented for testing and adding and improving to it.
When less than 24 hours after the mob vote is announced people can release mods of all three mobs, it’s not unreasonable to ask for all three. Mojang owns the best selling game of ALL TIME! It’s not a problem of resources
selling game, not playing game XD
Anyone angry that they did not update the swamp? They just added a super rare biome.
Not gonna lie, I have this thing we're the rare biomes are common and the common biomes are rare. I can't stop finding jungles, cherry groves, and mangroves, but I can never find a freaking desert.
@@pacboy7673 That's what annoys me most, they coded the terrain generation so terribly that their newly added biomes are prioritized over others, so it makes them far obscure. It's been an issue way before since the release, im just mind-blown how they didn't address this.

@@FarAtmosphere That is completely incorrect.
best solution would just be do it like the biome votes. Make it clear that all three will show up eventually, but have the vote be more of a show who gets priority, like the most votes gets in first, second place gets next etc.
the fact that mojang complains they can't add moobloom (recolored cow)
WHILE they adding a recolored skeleton in 1.20
LMAO
With the biomes they kind of stumbled on an another answer; make it about _priority_ . The mountains won so goats came in first, and the close second mangrove biome was implemented second when they had the time later on. There was a lack of excitement over the savannah update so it got quietly shelved. If they said they would definitely implement the winner, and consider implementing #2 and #3, depending on the reaction, I think it would solve a lot. Especially with wolf armor v crab claw, and allay v copper golem, there was enough excitement about the runner up (but not for third place) to merit considering it in a later update.
That's the thing though, for some voters the runner up wasn't the mob they wanted, ie I would've most preferred the moobloom. That STILL creates unhappy players. At that point its still unfair
I think this but anything that wasn’t added would be added later on just so everything makes it in at some point
@superNova5837 Some ideas just don't go over well. Like the Glare got _no_ votes, more or less. It seemed like a great utility mob, and something that fit in well with the lush caves, but it just didn't win over the crowds. If the Allay and then later the Copper Golem got made but never the Glare, I'd be ok with that. There's limited time in the world, and every mob they add is just one more thing to bug fix or update later, so I get it. Or even if they implemented the Allay and then the Copper Golem and then regrettably announced that the Glare is just too difficult to implement as designed, I'd also understand that.
Basically; the winner would be the priority and the thing they guarantee to be released on time, and the losers would be more of a long-term thing and not really a guarantee.
@@analogbunny This is basically how I would be handling the Mob Votes if I were running them. Dramatics aside - which is Why I believe the Losing Votes would be supposedly 'Never be Implemented', makes Voters better consider the Options available - there's No Reason to straight-up Throw Out an Idea that could be better implemented at another point in Time. The Votes should be a tool to Guide the team in how they Progress the game without Restricting them even further, and let them use Feedback from Why a Mob didn't Win to determine ways to implement its ideas better - whether through improvement of the Mob, or finding an Alternative means to make them Available...
No Idea should be just Removed from the Table, but rather kept aside in case it can be used Later. As has been shown Votes can also be Rigged, so a Trollish part of the Community can also Force the removal of a Highly Desired Option under the current Rulings - the Dream Incident should've made Mojang realise this and remove the 'Only One' Clause from the Rules, but it didn't. Now the Team seem to be getting fairly Lazy with their Design Ideas, with things that would only provide a small QoL improvement to the player instead of having a significant impact on anything, making a Vote that could Remove Options even more Pointless!
Just cutting the 'Only One' Clause and leaving the Option available to implement later is All they need to fix the Mob Votes - people might still get upset if the Mob they want doesn't Win, especially if a Rigged Vote is involved, but the Team could react better to the outcry more Easily if they weren't having to stand behind a Flawed Decision they made many Years ago...
@@analogbunnyThe reason why the Glare didn't win is because it is basically useless. Players know how dark is too dark, and know to put torches/lanterns.
My favorite part is when Mojang angsts about how long it would take to add just one feature to the game and all the complications it would bring... and then modders do it in like 2 seconds and it works perfectly. In at least one case, they fully finished all 3 mobs before the vote even happened.
mismanagement, plain and simple. ofc, they're M$'s b-, it's to be expected...
and then they proceed to add one feature that don't interacted with any existing feature and will never be reused again, so much for complications
@ETXAlienRobot201 This, and parity. the mobile app is probably the biggest setback for a lot of features, They should've kept it separate from bedrock
Yeah! It makes total sence, except-
it doesn't.
Coming up with idea, design, mob fittingn within the Minecraft universe, logic, what it does, how it does, what drops, how what it drops can be used and what for, and so on.
-----
I honestly don't understand how people miss each and every one of these moments, when using said argument.
"Modders" skip these steps.
They don't have to waste time on them. They were GIVEN the idea, they HAVE the design, they KNOW what it'll drop, they SAW what it'll be used for, they KNOW what mob'll do and yade yade yade...
All they have to do - code, and make a raw model.
(Which isn't easy, but much less time consuming)
Modders and ACTUAL mob designers are really different, so the argument "modder added them in 2 sec" - makes no sence.
Minecraft players not knowing how development works moment number 1,565,789,374,643,364,874,571
Mojang has a massive dev team, a shit ton of money, and could be doing a billion times better. That being said, game development has more hurdles in it than people realize, especially with a game as big as Minecraft. If they were able to pump this stuff out in the speed, quantity, and quality you guys want, they would. It definitely seems like this whole issue is people complaining that "Mojang is lazy!!!", while not even knowing what they're talking about themselves.
People didnt care of the mob vote where allay won? It had 2 of my favorite mobs of any mob vote
Ok hear me out
A mob vote every 3 updates, if time is the issue then we give them more time
the mob vote decides the order the mobs are added
Once all the mobs have been added then there's another mob vote
If they start doing this then it probably would be best to also bring back some mobs from older votes
YESS
Only thing is eventually the only updates are modvotes
More than 5 million players voted for mob this time. Why would Microsoft give up such hype for 3 years?
The time constraint is bullshit, modders take less than a day to implement them fully, as seen in the trailers.
@@tntmaxter8607 Modders don’t deal with all the other update, porting to Bedrock, polishing bugs, appearance and presentation.
I personally would use the mob vote as a priority list. Which ever mob gets the most votes when voting is done will be made first, the mob with the second highest votes will be made second, and on and on; that way the community will get what they want while also not sacrificing quality.
Would this system actually work, no clue, it's just my personal preference.
In theory, yeah. Even accounting for whatever ridiculous QC pipeline they have over at mojang, that could easily be done. At the very least the winner out to be shipped with the major update the vote was announced for, and the runner-up for a smaller update adding and fixing features that came with the original update in the several months between the next major announcement. It's entirely doable.
@@river559 Oh, cool!! =D

And to make sure that one mob doesn’t stay in the vote for an extended period of time, the players can vote for any mob that’s been in more than 2 votes to be removed
skip to 15:01 for the point of the video :|
I really hope that they do a “Redemption Vote”, where we get to choose a winner amongst past losers. I’d really like to see the Iceologer or the Monster Of The Ocean Depths get a second chance.
That was a thought I had years ago. Every 3 votes have one of the most popular runner-up's, or every other vote add a prior mob vote loser to be paired with the current winner or something like that. Even if everything isn't added at once, it could still be added later on. Even CDProjectRed didn't do us this dirty with cyberpunk's missing/proposed features, and we saw how much of a dumpster fire state that launched in.
pretty sure the 2017 mob vote losing mobs are gone for good
monster of the depths' concept seems pretty cool but i feel like itd just get annoying really quickly, like phantoms did. like gosh just let me travel lol
The crab, the tuff golem, the copper golem, and the barnacle would all be great additions to current Minecraft
yeah, maybe they could take the 2nd place winners from a bunch of previous mob votes and do that. iceologer never really got a fair shot cause dream skewed the vote.
Considering mods such as friends and foes adds all past mobs from the mob votes and modders pump out more content than mojang, its telling how much a large company funded by microsoft could do but wont.
because Mojang focuses on a whole update, not just the votes dumbass, maybe instead of echoing what you heard from the person you follow, you can actually learn development in whole and realize that it is much easier for modders to make already conceived mobs than it is to implement 2 mobs that lost with an entire update.
Microsoft is playing the safe game, they're scared of making a bad decision for some reason.
@@uuuuuu317 Because they think the main Minecraft player base is too stupid and young to handle an update that innovates their game, which is why they play it safe by just adding basic and mediocre updates.
well at least microsoft update minecraft and bug fix unlike valve, #fixtf2
It's been so long since I watched your content and I just happened to see this video. Saw the skin and I was like "Wait, WHAT?!"
I think the only way to have a mob vote that everyone likes is for the winner to be implemented, then the second place mob shows up in the next vote, with only third place going away until it can show up in a biome vote. Like the barnical and the crab could be associated with a new ocean biome or the penguin and the icoliger could be associated with a snow biome update
The only reason why I voted for the armadillo was because the crab will only spawn in mangrove swamp. Which is one of the most rarest biomes in the game. If the crabs spawn in the swamp or the beach instead, I would vote for the crab.
why do i keep fucking seeing them everywhere i go then
@@jesush.christ8261 lucky, i have not seen mangrove biome ever since the update and I played on like 10 diffrent words exploring a lot of land
I think crabs not spawning at a beach is dumb as hell. I live on the shore and during spawn season there are thousands of crabs on the shore, and we pull crabs from the shallows for eating all day. A swamp is not my first thought. Maybe crawdads, but not crabs.
Thanks to mangrove swamps, I never saw a regular swamp anymore.
come on man, its not that rare, and the use was worth it
They should have the mob that won added to the game, and make mob that got second place get another chance in the next mob vote.
Having a losers vote along with the regular new mob votes would be cool
Now that's a good idea. Then after every few votes maybe they can bring back the 3rd place mobs and have all the losers go head to head for a second chance.
that would make the mob vote have less hate if they do that
Fun fact, they only said the first mob vote the mobs wouldn’t be added. I disliked the video specifically because he repeatedly got that detail wrong. The other mobs, especially the ones people liked, could be added.
@@end_slayer Except that could also just mean the mobs feature and thus not the mob. Thus thinking that the Mobs will work like the biomes but just later down the line is more optimistic
And then there is cobblemon where already over 600 Pokémon were added.
they should just re-add loser mobs that have a relation to the update. touchup to ice spikes/snow biomes = iceologer, penguin and and maybe crab and barnacle, touchup to caves again = the great hunger, tuff and copper golem, ect
No matter how much yapping no reason is enough to not add them all.
At least add two or one important one and a smaller one
See if the mobs were big like minibosses or something I would say it's find to not add them all but they're not minibosses so they have no valid excuse.
Crafting History: They will never come back.
Jeb: Remember that our little Froggy friends never won a vote, but has managed to "hop" their way into the game?
Frogs were a biome vote, and even then the swamp biome didn't even update the swamp biome like promised.
@EmperorPenguin1217 well they update the swamp by adding the mangrove, i agree with you thats a new biome not an update of the swamp but in fact they update it
@@Jarod2309 Adding a completely different biome is not updating an existing biome.
They didn't update the old swamp at all, in fact they have the new biome spawn right next to them like it's mocking the old version.
They were apart of the biome vote. Those were said to eventually be implemented out right. Every biome will eventually get into the game it's just over time, the mob votes are different. They keep trying to say "oh, we don't never do them, we just put them into the trashcan and forget the idea forever, but we may come back to them some day (most likely well into the 1.30+ range)
@@_aWiseMan But frogs were falsely seen as "will never come back" in this video, when they actually did in 1.19.
the milder energy to this video is much appreciated in comparison to your main channel! i might actually be able to watch more of this than your main content
I'd either like 2 out of 3 mobs getting in or the losing mobs would appear in future mob votes aswell
if the main issue for implementing every mob is time then they can forego the vote/presentations entirely and use that time
The animations are by animations and not devs. And considering how much time it takes to make a mob, I don't think that giving a presentation on the different mobs is going to save that much time.
It's more about what Microsoft is willing to work with and fund
Ya'll are forgetting the community aspect of it, they do the mob vote with mobs that barely change the game to let the community choose which one appears in the update. Not to mention how they have an entire update to do too. The ones that don't win get scrapped unless it has a place in a later update, it's basic game development and you guys still don't get it.
@@XillStuffwhat you call the "entire update" is really just a handful of features that they take over a year to add, we only got two new mobs in the 1.21 and one of those was a skeleton variant it's so dire it becomes funny.
As for the community aspect, the mob vote is literally the worst way they could have went. The biome votes were great, we'd choose what aspect of the game we want revamped and in what order, to the point where the Mountains winning its vote evolved into the Caves and Cliffs, it was a direct input on what the community wanted while the mob vote just boils down to them dangling three different creatures in our faces that could be cool or could change absolutely nothing for the game and saying that we can only have one, we're not even choosing the order in which they'll be added, copper and tuff golems had a place in this new update and they didn't get even mentioned, that blaze variant from the first mob vote had a place in 1.16, the Iceilager had a place in 1.17/18, Moobloom could have been added in 1.19... Where are they?
@@XillStuff That's why people want redemption votes.
Every mob vote is 1 idea gets implimented, 2 new ideas gets "added" to the regret pile. The ratio between ideas added vs regrets added is 1 mob for every 2 regrets. Meaning the regret list grows at a faster rate than the mobs added.
People just hate seeing that list grow. You fix that by changing the ratio. 3 year cycle. 2 years of redemption votes followed by the 3rd year of traditional new idea vote. Redemption votes are simple, you take 3 losers from past votes and they are the mobs you vote on for that year. No new ideas are create, no new regrets are added to the pile, but 1 idea gets implimented. So that's a +1 ideas implimented, +0 regrets or +0 ideas, -1 regret per redemption vote. And there are 2 redemption votes in this 3 year cycle that's +2 idea implimented, +0 regrets. The 3rd year is standard 3 new ideas. We already established that means its +1 mob, +2 regerts.
Now lets combine all 3 years:
+3 mobs, +2 regrets.
The math mean we would outpace the regret after enough time and slowly shrink the amount of backlogged regret they have accumulated. The only cost would be less "new ideas" that might not even get implemented. I honestly think the community would be fine with that. The biggest hurt would be to the Friends & Foes mod. Less content for those guys to add.

Thanks for the informative video. My only gripe is the extreme closeup on text that were expected to read and it just zooms by while also shaking and it really bothered my eyes lol.
They could at least add the second most voated mob in the next update😔
But then it's just voting for which mob shouldn't be added?
I have a feeling that all 4 of the first mobs would have been annoying. Imagine dropping a enchanted item around a great hunger, losing all of its enchants, or trying to swim only to be pulled under by a barnacle and drowned just for fishing.
Just comes to show, we can’t blame the phantom when it’s unreleased brothers would probably been just as bad.
given the fact that grindstones didn't exist at the time of that mob vote, the great hunger would have been REALLY useful, as there wasn't any way to disenchant things at the time. accidently dropping items shouldn't be much of an issue either because them getting disenchanted likely wouldn't be instantaneous.
@@oblivi8games808until you die around one
Not really. The Phantom punishes you for playing a certain way, which is the antithesis of a sandbox game.
@@HungryWarden Exactly what I've been saying! A game that punishes the player for playing in an undesired way is shitty Sandbox design. It should instead _encourage_ the player to play in the _desired_ way.
Back before beds, and even the early implementation of beds, you _had_ to make a shelter, otherwise you'd be in constant danger, and since early bases are almost always trash, the player feels an intrinsic motivation to make their base better. Farming also used to be better for food than meat, which also encouraged the player to build, leading to a greater intrinsic motivation to make the entire nearby area pretty.

@@arciji3470layouts, bases, sketches with color, etc will be important for ones eye.
@@arciji3470 What if mojang devs just make all the mobs without polishing them, then add them to an experimental version, then let players decide what mobs are the best according to their experience playing with those mobs? I mean, polishing takes a long time, but what if mojang skips that stage first and just lets the community decide what features to add to the mobs and what mobs will be added? I know game development isn't easy but at least there's more feedback rather than looking at concept arts that they have to build upon.
I love that the Armadillo wasn't even added in 1.21, but was instead added in 1.20.5 with the new wolf variants, which were also I believe intended to come out with 1.21.
Here’s an idea for fixing the mob vote, have a separate vote for each mob. Each mob could have a vote saying “add this to the game? Yes or no”, and if the “yes” votes are above a certain threshold (hopefully chosen based on the vote percentage of winning mobs in previous votes) then the mob will be added. If all three mobs are voted to be added to the game then all three would be added. Only two were voted to be added while the last was not? Add the two that won. I haven’t actually participated in mob votes because I don’t have twitter, but i do know which mobs i would have voted for, maybe people will be less mad if something they didn’t care about got added than if something they did like lost the vote by 3 percent, the only mob vote mob i really don’t want in the game is the Iceologer, but that’s only because i love mountain biomes and i don’t want to be bothered by a mob that forces you to constantly move in a biome with the least flat land area of any biome. Either that or don’t have the arbitrary and infuriating rule of “the ones who lose are gone to the void forever!!! :D”, have the same rule as biome votes where “the losers might be added eventually”. If they can add both goats and frogs in separate updates why cant they add both crabs and armadillos, or glow squids and mooblooms? Maybe next year’s mob vote could instead be “which old mob vote mobs do you want to come back?” instead of coming up with three new ideas only for two to be discarded, although im not sure if that would actually make everyone happy or just fuel the fire of the “mojang is lazy” narrative. Even still, ideas are valuable and i don’t get why they would so easily discard decent ideas. I’m sure the mooshroom is rather lonely being the only plant-based cow variant, and there is that very convenient flower forest biome which has a bunch of bees…
I had this playing in the background and didn't realize it was logdotzip for a long while
It is!
They never said that the other 3 would never be added after the Moobloom, Iceologer and Glowsquid mob vote. Any Biome vote mobs were also never stated to never happen as the wording was which biome we update first, hence the Swamp Biome stuff in the Wild Update.
Personally I think the reason crab lost was because a lot of those people saying crab online were the same who were saying and consuming the “don’t vote” protest, so not enough of them voted to outnumber the Armadillo. If you want a mob vote, of you’re impartial then abstain, but if both then don’t be shocked when your mob loses lol.
And people have wanted wolf armour for ages. Plus, creative mode exists so if you only care about building, just use creative mode.
@@satsujin-shathewitchkingof6185and then mods have added what the crab claw would do and people hardly used those items.
Another factor they ignore is the latin american community, it stuns me to see the armadillo votes being shrugged off as just "little kids" voting as if a significant number of the latin american community in minecraft didn't vote for armadillo (in special argentinians and brazilians from what I've seen). We have armadillos here, of course a lot of us may end up voting on it not for the sake of wolf armor but simply because we would like to see more animals from our fauna added.
@@someoneintheinternet757 I'm brazillian and i still wanted the crab.
The politics of voting is not what I want from Minecraft
Maybe an alternative would be to announce that all 3 will be added, but the vote is to determine which mob to focus on adding first. Then the runner up a bit later, and the third at a later time.
for real though, literally make the quarterly updates be adding each of the mobs in the game and the fourth one is the vote for the next three
I think the votes could be changed so that all biomes/mobs will be updated, but the vote will decide which thing will come faster.
Example: 1, 2, and 3 are the contenders. Most people vote 1, not as many vote 2, and the least amount vote 3. 1 will be worked on more and added quickly. Then 2 will come later after 1, and same for 3.

I think votes can easily be solved simply by calling it priority votes. Let players vote on what areas of the game should be worked on first before others. This vote can be re-opened after every update. Perhaps there could be votes for both major and minor updates.
8:00 I think what happened here was called the "center squeeze" phenomenon. Basically you have two options that a lot of people equally like, so the vote gets split between the two... allowing the third one that most people dont want to take the lead.
If you’re the best selling game of all time, you have the funding to update the game more, if the code needs to be changed for modern updates then do it, you have made more money then GTA5 from sales, GTA5, LOOK AT THAT GAME AND ITS FEATURES AND THEN LOOK AT MINECRAFT.They have the money to hire more developers, and Microsoft should be providing them with the funds to keep upgrading quickly as minecraft’s a cash cow for a company which is already worth more than 75% of countries in the world and is in part responsible for all the people in tech jobs getting laid off, it’s just not a good look.
I don't think Mojang's reasoning can really be used as an excuse given that mod developers have often been able to put together functional versions of all the mobs during the voting period. Normally within a day or two. Now, obviously we need to bear in mind QA testing and such which goes on at Mojang, but nothing stops them from having working betas with a few days of development that are later refined and added to the game
Like, of course the devs have other things to do, a minecraft fan is not a dev, plus the Microsoft bureaucracy that's involved with it is a factor in the quality of the updates, but realistically speaking, they should try doing beta updates with the mobs, and have people test 'em out, like with the updates.
Agreement! This was an insane disaster to hear as someone who has touched game studio design. This seems more like a upper management issue than anything, the designers and developers have a lot of time and resources, so it’s odd to see them angry or frustrated about people comp but then realize. It’s probably not their fault but they need to take the blame. They probably can’t get much through upper management and I imagine this result is because of how “friendly” they want to be. Hence the absolute refusal to add sharks (Yet said yes to a flying dream killer made out of bones and drops a literal membrane? Wtf?!?)

12:56 How about have it a cycling vote. In each future poll, there will be two older mobs that failed, and a brand new mob. This would make some older failed mobs have a chance of getting in. For example, they could have the copper golem and tuff golem go against a new steel golem or something and call it "Battle of the Golems" in the new mob vote. Or maybe the next vote could be a mixed mob/biome vote where the choices are penguin/snow biome, vulture/deadlands biome, or crab/beach biome, and what biome/mob vote chosen would determine one of the next updates to the game.
A rotation of three different votes would be best in my opinion. So 1st place get implemented in that years update, 2nd the year after and 3rd in the year after and then that type of vote comes up again. So those votes would be mob, biome and something else, what that third thing would be would be up to mojang itself.
I think they should add the other mobs when theres a good opportunity like 1.21 was associated with copper and tuff blocks they could have added the copper or tuff golem but they didnt
And Mojang will add all these mobs to 1.21, including the crab, penguin, and others.
EXCATLY, if there was ever a time to add those 2 it was this update. It just shows the losing mobs ARE lost forever.
They added the armadillo, but still no savannah biome update. I was really hoping mojang would include the baobab trees and termites and ostriches too but no, we just got a single boring mob. At least dogs have op armor now, but still no good ai
0:25 The wording on this is misleading. While this is the first time this info has been compiled into one place and given on RUclips, all of these reasons were stated on the likes of Reddit and Twitter when devs where asked about adding all the mobs before.
9:03 Dream probably barely had an influence on it. I actually did vote it because of something he said “Omg the mob is so mezmarising that they are almost hypnotized it’s a new effect~” and I was like, shit yeah. That’s a good point.
No. You can't be a developer and say it's hard to add new mobs when you are gonna add them if they win anyway. So just do it?
Oh but it takes time- Take your time??? Dont discard the ideas that you've fully thought out and selected to be the candidates for release
mojang may be lazy, but the people who call them lazy always want updates like 1.14, 1.16, or beta 1.8(which may be the most impactful update ever)
For the next mob vote, I say that it adds the runner-up from each vote so players can vote for them
This
How do you choose the best locations for shooting videos like this?
A few solutions to the mob vote problem I think could work:
1. Make it so that every mob vote has a sort of “preview map” accessible to both bedrock players and Java players that acts as a way to see how the mobs work in the game. This map could also play into each update/mob vote’s theming as well.
2. Make the mob vote a priority list, with mob #1 going in the current planned update, and then the next two go to the other two major upcoming updates. This would also allow mob votes to be spaced out by 3 updates.
#3: have the update after a mob vote be a “community vote update” where players can vote on mobs from past mob votes(in groups of 3 of course) that got axed, with one getting added to that major update based on votes. Also, mobs suggested by the community could be there too.
2:42 i think a valve employee snuck in mojang and now they cant count to 3
1.22: end update

Quite messed up to suggest to add 2 uninteresting mobs against a better more fleshed out one, very scam like.
Glad they fixed the disparity in information and features between the different mobs to create a fairer vote.
It's up to us to understand that they actually care for the game and work to better it, while also allow us to partake in implementing some features.
fr
Yeah whats even the point of the vote with that mindset? Just add the thing you want added at that point.
Imagine next update will they add all the mobs that didnt win and the biomes didnt win, and imagine, they also added end and sculk update
I think the biggest mistake they made is saying the other mobs will be scrapped and never be added, instead of saying something like the mobs will be put away.
One of my favourite video games is My Singing Monsters, and it's done something very interesting with "scrapped" ideas. Typically when a new monster is being created, it goes through many possible designs before being added.
A Class called the Magicals were almost all based on the MANY old concept art, and it's one of the most popular Classes.
One of the biggest losses the community missed, was a monster called Mimic which would allow you to record your voice and add it to the song, but instead we got the Recording Studio structure that allowed you to record your voice over any monster on the island.
This monster was never forgotten by the community, and was added about 5 or 6 years later with a more polished design and now mimics other monsters as its sound.
If the devs said there's a possibility that losing mobs COULD eventually be added to the game, less people would be mad.
It honestly feels a bit hypocritical to completely scrap these ideas. I mean, the Devs put it to a vote for the community, meaning they thought each mob would be decent enough to be added, so why scrap the idea, instead of keeping it floating around.
They say it's hard to implement new content, which is why only one can be added, but if ever there's an update that one of these scrapped mobs would fit, it would be easier to add something with pre-existing backstory and ideas, that the community already knows about, than creating one from scratch.
You don’t have to do an entire recap.. just TELL US WHAT THEY SAID FFS
