Prometheus | Destroy the Ship | ALIEN ANTHOLOGY
/ alienanthology
Best scene of the movie. Those three men are the heroes of the movie.
No, I disagree, it was the 12 foot alien when his ship squashed Charlie flat as a pancake. He should be invited to the White House and given a medal.
The real heroes are the ones who didn't watch this movie.

I love the way the Captain's pilots stayed with him until the bitter end. Loyalty without question!
See you Boyz o the other side.
They're MCU heroes for a reason
Kind of like the Trump supporters staying with Captain Orange until the bitter end.
You no doubt mean the pilots that are just fictional creations from the mind of the writer
...yep, what do you think 3 feminist would have done in that situation???
For me what hits the hardest is at 0:28 after the captain says "this is not a warship". The response of "I know.. I know..." is delivered so well just from her tone. I can feel her emotion for what she is truly asking.
What an honourable sacrifice. Heroism at its highest duty at the most critical consequence.
It's a movie.
Utterly stupid sacrifice. Captain and crew are idiots. Dumbest Captain ever. No Captain of a ship would be that stupid 😅. Sacrifice an Interstellar ship on the advice of an hysterical women? Not tactically sound or reasonable given the circumstances. If a corporation can fund a ship that can travel to the stars. Imagine what governments can do? What hope would one ship have against a military from all the space faring countries from earth? The ship would have been met with an armada light years from earth. A type 2 civilization armada. No hope of it winning. Say it defeats that armada. A more advance Armada will meet it the next time. For the scientist and military strategist will have accessed it strength and weaknesses. And will come with a more advance ships. This pattern will just repeat until it is defeated. Now the defenders are just as strong as you. Now earth will be on the attack. Remember a type 2 civilization like in this film is damn near impossible to defeat.

TheBiakko any sci fi movie out there, when it comes to human survival, they fail. This one is one of the best putting it right.
UUUUHHH NO. CAPTAIN HAD SEEN ENOUGH ON PLANET.
To be sure, the captain had already surmised that those vessels of black ooze were some kind of "weapon of mass destruction" - - and promised Shaw it would never get back to Earth
Janek already had a pretty good idea of what the pale dudes were doing in there and besides, all of the crew (that was still alive) saw how "friendly" those things were to humans.
Its ok respawn in 10 seconds.

“Crevice to the East…let’s go”
I love the symbolism of the hands outstretched as the three men sacrifice themselves to save humanity. Ironically the Engineers who believe in sacrifice and creation through destruction, would probably applaud Janek's fortitude over the obsessive pursuit of immortality by Weyland.
Earth would be destroyed anyway becaurse of the execution of jesus (the original intent of the movie and also in script) - the enginerer took the child to their place and teached him how to be and returned him where he became known as jesus - the enginerer says that to David (but not sure if they had thar part still in the final shooting script) - that's why the film is still focused on religion

@@MrCk1234567890 And you're a bit of a condescending asshole. Who hurt you?
Jake, the "hands up" is taken from when people first started riding the rolly coasters in the 60's when they were going down the hill.
@@michaelorosz272the line is "hands off".
It's symbolic of the crew surrendering to their fate, not as a consequence of external, divine forces, but their own decisions and circumstances.
They could avoid the collision by maneuvering. They take their hands off the controls to show they are committed to their course of action, and won't avoid the collision, and their subsequent deaths, because it is a necessary consequence of their choices.
*The fear shown when they decided to stick together, the hesitation, the thoughts of dying...great acting!*
One of them hesitated for a moment. It's not easy at all to accept that you're gonna crash and burn willingly to your death.

That was stupid. Why sacrifice the ship? Signal or follow. That 1 ship ever getting near earth is highly unlikely. Even if they didn't signal ahead that ship will be met with an Armada several times. If a corporation can send a ship to another star system. IMAGINE what governments can do? It's like Apple vs all the world in ship deployment.
Also the closer the ship got to Earth the more the web would thicken. Meaning the more force it would encounter. Since earth and all governments would have years to prepare.

Ah, the very essence of desperation. Beautiful scene, I´ll give you that.
At 0:44, the ship slowly and ominously rising in the background was greatly done.
The part that seals the deal and creates horrific anxiety at the same time is when she says, "Janek...if you don't stop it...there won't be any home to go back to. It's...it's carrying death and it's headed for Earth."

Brilliant post this is exactly it. Don't forget Janek already knew the Engineers were hostile. Shaw just confirmed it.
What I found interesting was when the Engineer entered the life-pod, probably unaware Shaw survived.
Whether as to gather information or more likely to see what induced the Humans to sacrifice themselves in what was ultimately in the eyes of the Engineer a futile attempt at stopping him.
One of those “maybe Humans deserve another chance” moments. At least until Shaw attacked him 😂
@@Waroftheworldszthere was so much cut from this which would have made them more interesting. The expression on Yannick's face at 00:26...when Shaw tells him she knows...when he mentions that it was not a warship...tell it all. What a solider. If you die. Die a solider.
Yea love that.
what is a solider? soldier
I know I’d never have the courage to do what those men did. They are unsung heroes of humanity
what a great movie. probably the best plot ever of all the sequels
Shaw was a great character.
Yes!
Very powerful scene about humanity-what/who we are and should be proud off...
Not a lot to be proud of in the USA. When will the next mass shooting of little kids take place? Or at Walmart? Homelessness in the millions. Mental illness abounds on the streets from east coast to west coast. What we have here, sir, is a dying society, and a gov't that is helping it along. Nothing to be proud of here.
Best movie in the entire franchise!
she is fighting for Humanity u can feel that she is telling you a messege save the bullets
Speak what you want about the movie but you have to admit, the impact and the animations, smoke sims and physics look absolutely stunning. This is the most amazing and thrilling scene of the whole movie. Bravo.
This movie was underrated
On the contrary it was overhyped by the marketing department. Don't forget all of those online videos and commercials showing us how Weyland got the crew in the ship, not to mention how the company sold us the David model line. Fast foward to teh time of release and everyone knew that the movie was really bad. Great visuals and music but the plot itself and most of the characters were a waste of screen time.
And for the record I DO LIKE the film, but it is by no means an underrated movie nor a good alien prequel.
Fury161 oh ok didn’t know that. Anyways in my opinion I found it very interesting movie. It should’ve expanded until revealing the real origin of the Aliens. But Covenant was such a disappointment. It felt very rushed. The only reason I felt like it was underrated is because from what I know, Ridley had to change the sequel based on people not liking Prometheus.
@@officialrvelasco I understand your point. But most people didn't liked prometheus because instead of being a direct prequel to Alien, it was a spin-off-ish thing. Not to mention that the 'space truckers' of the Nostromo were more competent and professional than the scientists of the Prometheus.
What Ridley did in Covenant was the final nail in the coffin. Ugly, ugly film.
@@PointReflex It's not surprising that the crew of the _Nostromo_ were more competent though. They were only interested in getting home. There was nobody like Shaw with a religious belief that what was in there was their creator that had _invited_ them to come, and nobody like Weyland, desperate to get answers before he kicked the bucket.
Shaw is similar to Ripley as far as courage and toughness goes, but Ripley was cautious and rational.
Ripley would have looked at those cave paintings, realised they were painted by tribal humans witnessing an invitation of their own time, not an invitation left by Engineers for future humans. She would have been curious as to whether the trips were taking tribal humans away and for what purpose. She would not have considered it a good idea to just land, and roll right in as if there was a pleasant welcome for the Prodigal Son.
Also, the crew of the _Nostromo_ were hired in a normal fashion, and had been with the company a long time, and knew how to work together.
The crew of the _Prometheus_ was a "Ship of Fools". They signed up for a mission knowing nothing but the pay, and got their first briefing 28 months after they'd launched. Shaw is a fanatic who is 100% certain of her conclusions, based on cherry picked evidence, because of what she 'chooses to believe' . Holloway is a moron, Weyland is dying, desperate and ruthless. David and Ford are working Weylands agenda while Shaw doesn't keep control of the mission.
Ripley took command when Dallas died, and she made good decisions, and kept everyone focussed on one agenda.
They only had one crew member working to a different agenda of course, Ash.
Covenant was even more stupid, I agree.
Highly under rated
plot twist. 14 more take off after that one xD
what a dedication for their job, they did it without hesitation.
