the definition of a violent by nature organism is one that reciprocates force. What made this creature so daunting was the fact it knew to cause excess pain and torment before killing. Whether it be shredding your insides. Breaking your limbs. Or, manually opening your helmet so the last breath you take is the one it takes from you. A truly unique design of a creature.
I would argue in all of those situations the alien was trying to survive, not go out of its way to be violent. If you watch the movie again, pay attention and in all those scenes, calvin is provoked before it attacks. For example, he could've killed the dr with the broken hand if he wanted to, but he had no reason to anymore.

Why didn’t he just launch it into space. I feel like I saw this movie twice and never got that as to why he’d launch himself and it and think he’d live.
The ending is really neat but doesn't hold up to logic very well. There really was no reason to launch his pod at all since the ISS was going to burn up in orbit
@@MrFunkhauserThe alien may survive the re-entry, it has a shocking level of high adaptability, thats why they want to make sure it launch to deep space
@MrFunkhauser The whole start of the movie is about the fact the creature was found as small cell that slowly came back too a active state after laying dormant and constantly grew as it fed. There was 0 guarantee that every cell would be destroyed to stop it from growing on earth. The theory was there is no life on mars because Calvin and maybe others of its kind devoured everything til it starved and went dormant.

Calvin just wanted to live, its basically the most primitive function any living thing has. Forget friends or family or love, or whatever BS floats your boat. We all fought an almighty battle to be here and waste it on youtube.
Considering Calvin can adapt to literally anything my theory is that everyone on Earth died. That's the consequence of humans messing with forces they didn't understand. They literally doomed the whole world for the sake of science.
Why didn’t they both go to earth either in the same or separate pods and leave Calvin in the ISS and then get another attempt with sending it in deep space thereafter? It only went wrong bc of Sho. At least one pod would’ve made it to earth with only a person inside. The sacrifice was not only unnecessary but also proved to be too much of a risk. The ISS would never fall to earth.
The movie requires that the creature be indestructible and seemingly omnipotent. How could it know that the pod was being manually steered into outer space and then force the pod back to Earth?
Thank you, amazed no one else pointed this out. It's one thing for Calvin to be smart enough to use simple tools or strategies for hunting, but it's another entirely for it to "just eyeball it" and know how to read extremely complex displays and infer how to move the flight stick to achieve re-entry. It's like saying that just because it can use a pointy object it must therefore be able to instantly learn how to pilot an aircraft, like what lol 😂
Her pod got damaged in colliding with junk. And flew off into space. His pod he was trying to steer off into space but the alien pulled his hands from the controls and it re-entered instead. And of course, when it landed, people ran to rescue the astronaut, and opened the pod, and her message never got delivered.
I agree, the clips that I have seen are typical of modern film making, remake something instead of doing something original, add a music score that is overbearing and heavy on the bass, for the horror scenes give stupid little cuts hiding the good stuff, weird pacing, weird acting, weird script. YUCK
