Cool plot twist, another cool way would've been to either have the announcer guy(pretend that it's a person and not an automated voice) or the president just start saying "Go outside now, go outside now" implying that they were killed and impersonated, then everyone died.
Theres a similar scenario with aliens trying to hijack a broadcast, its called something like “DO NOT LOOK UP EAS”

that crosses the line from 'unlikely' into 'not physically possible'; even if it did happen, everything on earth would be cooked within a few hours and utterly annihilated not long after that
They already did scenario similar to that, where the earth just floats onto the sun slowly
sun can't go supernova it's a medium star needs to be way bigger it can only do a planetary nebulae that's if earth isn't already cooked like a burnt steak on a grill.
