tsunamis only go that speed while in the middle of the ocean, when they approach the coast they get higher and slow down

This scenario is sadly not fictional. Fun fact, this title was used in an episode of the Weather Channel's "It Could Happen Tomorrow," a show about different US cities or areas vulnerable to catastrophic disasters of different types. They are based off real-life events and use scientific evidence (meteorological or geological) and the potential impact they can cause. In that case the tsunami is not caused by an asteroid, but an earthquake along the Cascadia subduction zone or along the Denali Fault in the Alaska region. The EAS scenario here is also real, although the possibility of this happening is EXTREMELY nil. But it can happen under the right conditions.

Just think. He said the asteroid will impact 150 miles off the coast of San Francisco , but when the tsunami warning starts 1 minute after impact, he says the almost mile high wave is traveling at 100 miles per hour and will sink the entire west coast in 30 minutes, so it should take an hour and a half to even start hitting the coast of San Francisco and will take like 3 hours to hit seattle right?
