So glad I grabbed two bottles of the 22 instead of the 21 based off the reviews. So I skipped the 21 but I got this 23 version. Haven’t opened it yet. However let me suggest that you can always add a little CS to the regular 12 or vice versa to experiment and you still have a Bunna 12 single malt at the end of the day, just a different abv.
Great to see you back Alan, you have been sorely missed, this seems to be the consensus, slightly better than the 21, but not as good as the 22, but to be fair the bar was set so high with the 22, it was always going to be hard to beat, super video as always 👍🥃
Just spent my budget on an extra bottle of the 22 so this can wait a wee while.
Great to see you back Alan. My 2022 batch picked up last year at a good price, around €75,the 2023 batch will set you back here in Germany around €100 a bit too pricey for me I’m afraid. The Benromach CS batches cost between €65-€75. Good value whisky. Slàinte Alan.
Ok, I got the same thing. This is one that responds and opens incredibly well with just a light splash of water. Very satisfying tuning a dram to your individual liking.
Water is your friend Tony...enjoy and thanks for watching my friend
Can only find this at one shop in Belgium at €119. Was so looking forward to getting this one. 2022 was also not available here. Cheers. Nice review
It just arrived today at my trusted Whiskyshop and i ordered it right away. Never dissapointed by Age stated Bunnas.
Thanks for sharing your Thoughts and Opinion about this Bottling.
Greetings from Germany 😎🤘
The 2022 edition for me , loved how cloudy it went when water added, the 2023 must have been more aggressively filtered still a great whisky but i shall be buying up as many 2022s as i can.
Correct sir....thanks for watching
Just to note in Scottish Gaelic a 'bh' is usually pronounced as a 'v'. The 'bh' in Bunnahabhain is pronounced as a 'v'.

WELCOME TO BUNNAHABHAIN
Pronounced 'Bunn-na-ha-venn', meaning 'mouth of the river' in Scots Gaelic, our distillery is the most remote on Islay, nestled in Bunnahabhain Bay on the shores of the Sound of Islay.
noted buddy...please accept my humble apologies my friend....merry xmas....
Good to have you back Alan. I have the 2022 edition, and its an absolute ripper. Looking at your back shelf, I now understand why Springbank+Kilkerran are so hard to come by! 😄
I put a lot of time, effort and of course cash picking those up...and thanks for watching my friend
Please do a blind of all three: 2021, 2022, and 2023!!! That should be very telling, what do you think Alan?
I Just opened it ... 2 minutes ago, directly ordered fromm Bunna. ❤
You'll love it...
@@thewhiskyfriend .... oh yes, wonderful, my best bottle. ❤️
Nice Alan glad you enjoyed it. I did not connect with the 2022 but I have not tried the 2021 so I think these releases I'll just try at a bar or sample to make my mind up. I appreciate that Bunnahabhain's doing batch releases, like you said; life would be boring if we drank the same whisky every day! Cheers my friend
Delighted to meet you Alan, Saturday. Definitely right to add a few drops of water. Thank You, for talking to me!🙂👍 Tom Clarke
Your very welcome Tom...Saturday turned into a blur at the end but a great night..cheers fella...
I'm in the US but was able to order this one Straight from their site. Really looking forward to getting it. Excellent review
You'll love it my friend....thanks for watching
I'll have to tell you Alan, I've gone back to the 2021 and it has really changed for the better and is catching up to the 2022 for my palate. Haven't seen any 2023 over here in the colonies yet, but I'll pick it up when I find it. Thanks for the work on the review and looking forward to the next. Cheers All!
Cheers buddy...I'm probably gonna do a livestream soon and do all 3 batches....this one is really nice but defo different to the 2022...
Alan, Glad to see you back and all recharged. This 2023 sounds like a real banger. CHEERS!
You’re back! Great review. Our liquor store got 6 bottles of the ‘22 batch, and i managed to get one of them but have yet to open it. Looking forward to trying it now that i have watched your review. Cheers 🍻 🍻
Get it opened my friend....your missing out....thanks for dropping by... cheers
Thanks so much for the review, from what you say, I think I would also have preferred the 2022 extra sherried notes but you have me very interested with the peach/nectarine notes so that made me feel better, I also picked it up for 20% off so I can’t wait to try it next week when it arrives, cheers! 🥃
think you will enjoy this one.. top notch from Bunna....let me know how you get on with it ....
Wow! Totally on point Alan! Compared the 21 22 and 23! Perfect review!! Thank you! Neal
cheers Neal ...might get round to doing all 3 batches on a livestream fella
Thank you for reviewing this one for us Alan. Its definitely on my to buy list when funds allow!
I loved the '22. But IMO it ain't worth two of the regular 12. I really love the regular 12 so will stick with that for my bunna coastal choclatety sherry cravings
Oh it is my friend....in my humble opinion ....thanks for watching
Great review! Can you please do a blind tasting of Bunnah 2021, 2022, and 2023, and also Glenallachie 10 Batch 8 and 9. 5 bottle battle royal. Would be awesome to see which ones take the top spots.
Watch this space...
Great review Alan, managed to get the 2023 bottle from Milroys for £64 which has arrived today. Great to hear it takes water well. One to crack open this weekend. May have purchased another 2022 bottle from MoM also 🙂. Again, great to finally meet you at GWF and shake your hand buddy.
Thanks for reviewing Alan.
Needless to say where that big smile comes from... 😃.... Was great meeting you in person!
And on the whisky: looking forward to try this one.
Slàinte mhath
Thanks for reviewing this one. I've got this and the Redbreast Tawny Port Cask on my radar and have been seeking reviews of them. This one will be a definite pick up for me now. Even if it may not be quite as great as the 2022, that is a very steep hill to climb as I found the 2022 to be superb. It's like saying The Stones aren't quite as great as The Beatles, but I can't live without either The Beatles or The Stones, they're both amazing, so I enjoy them both. Cheers!
It's a belter James...cheers fella
Lovely whisky 🥃 indeed! Great to see you dear Alan. Kindest regards ciao 👋 S.
It's great to be back and great whisky at the same time...cheers my friend
Great review Alan, thank you! I appreciate that you embrace the batch variation and dived into the compare/contrast in your review. I look forward to finding this one and maybe finding another 2022 on the shelf as well.
As you say, definitely a wonderful, wonderful whisky. Chuffed I got a bottle too. Cheers Alan.
Thanks for reviewing this one.
I do have 2021 but haven’t opened it yet, 2022 is amazing bough few bottles, still considering a shopping of 2023
Cheers Alan
Good to see you back Alan glad you are opening some of your collection
Good to see you back Alan. Glad I bought a back-up of the 2022, thanks to you 😉
One of my all time favorite whenever I have seen it!! Great to see you back my friend
Welcome back, Alan! Great to see you :)
Great video mate! Can't wait to crack mines open!
Now that our review is out, finally getting to this. The 2023 is just unrefined, somehow they let the slightly higher abv turn it from very drinkable to darn right unpleasantly hot. IMO they really dropped the ball by putting out such a hot and unpleasant pour. Flavor wise it's got plenty going for it, but the sour and acidic alcohol is rather hard to get past. I still think the net result is a good bottle, but really not what I want from a special release like this.
Agreed fella....Good to Keith with you guys...
Thanks for the video. I appreciate your opinion. I’ve heard such good things about the 12 but have yet to be able to find a bottle. The only Bunnahabhain that I’ve had is a 44-year-old SMOS directors. It was amazing I had it in a tasting. I hope I see a 12 on the shelf soon.
Oh, and by the way, when you add a little bit of water, you don’t decreased amount of alcohol shit you’re drinking just the ABV lol so I think you’re still gonna get drunk
That didn’t read right I was speaking with Siri. I’m sorry about the rude word.
I meant to say you don’t decrease the amount of alcohol you just lower the ABV
@@kirbycalgary2844 Hi fellow Calgarian? I actually haven't seen Bunna 12 CS in Alberta ever. Where have you seen it?
@@Watchman999 you must’ve misunderstood me I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. I was just able to have the Bunnahabain 44SMOS Directors cut sample. It was delicious.
2022 set the bar at decent level. As you said mate it would be boring if it was all the same
It's a better Bart....cheers fella
I knew Alan was going to be first...
Also, I recommend putting the name of the whisky in the title of the video. No one is going to find this unless they're already subscribed...
