What support have our Armed Forces Lariam Veterans got today?

  • On 13 September 2016, Forces News interviewed MPs on the Defence Select Committee who stated the anti-malarial drug #Mefloquine (#Lariam) should be the "drug of last resort" for UK troops. The drug was prescribed to more than 17,000 military personnel between April 2007 and March 2015, albeit many medical records have been "LOST" or the drug was simply never recorded in them, so actual numbers of exposure to the harmful effects of this drug are much higher!
The "Single Point of Contact" simply refers you back to your GP, who has NO IDEA of military life and/ or the use of neurotoxic tropical medicine. www.gov.uk/government/publica... THERE IS STILL (today in 2023) NO SCREENING, ASSESSMENT, OR COORDINATED TREATMENT PATHWAY for all those injured.
The Surgeon General openly admits the MOD can't do the appropriate studies. The result? Thousands of damaged Troops and Veterans have been kicked to the curb, or misdiagnosed and mistreated as "mental health" patients!
    This is Neurology! NOT Psychiatry!

Why does it haunt me that the MOD doesn’t have the capacity for the “deep science” yet was confident or negligent enough to risk their vital assets and bypass appropriate duty of care🤷‍♀️ make it make sense someone please

@@Manc268well I’m in Australia and a veteran family member was a part of the human trials of this drug and this rabbit hole is awful. The data just can’t be accurate when the test subjects can’t report negative side effects without it ending their career. As a civilian I want to know the drugs released to us have accurate data. Check out the quinism foundation ❤
