    I’m one of those veterans experiencing the long lasting effects. 17 years now.

      Dude, what can we do about this? I'm 18 years out from Iraq '03. I was forced to stand in squad formation, and eat the pill DAILY!!! I can't find it anywhere in my Medical Records, which isn't surprising because the medics didn't give it too us....our PL's did. I'm already at 100% with the VA, so filing a claim for Mefloquine Toxicity isn't going to get me shit. We also can't sue because its been longer than 5 years. I want to get a class action going to sue the fuck out of these people.

      @@marcmarc4776 I feel your pain brother, and you’re right. If you’re 100% P&T don’t bother filing a claim. I fought that battle with the VA for years to no avail. I’m 100% P&T as well and they denied me Mefloquine Toxicity even on appeal. I’d let sleeping dogs lie and hope for a class action someday. I haven’t heard of one yet though. Anyways, you can get a lot of good info from a group called the Quinism Foundation, I’ll post the link.

      @@remembertheblacksabbath Well, that's what I want to do (class action). I'm not waiting for some ad to pop up on facebook to file something. This shit is getting worse by the day. The lawyer above left a message the other day, I'm going to see what he has to say.

    I was forced to take it on all 3 deployments a month before and after, and we where told if we got sunburns we would be in trouble when this crap also made us sensitive to the sun exposure. I took all three of them.

    Took it 09-10 for almost 7 months. The big joke was mefloquin mondays and night terror tuesdays. Took it again in 11 for a month or so before they took it all and reissued doxy. I definitely still have dreams that i would directly associate with its use. Just the vividness is unmatched they dont fade like normal dreams they stay like memories of actual events.

    This is interesting. We didn't take it on my 3 tours in Iraq and were in some heavy combat. Most guys came back pretty ok. They had some short term issues but most guys pulled up. We took it on my 2 tours to Afghan and the guys came back all jacked up despite very little or no combat. Correlation doesn't always equal causation but it would be worth looking into.

      Everyone is conditioned to never ever disclose psychological problems because of the societal stigma and ignorance as well as the extremely high likelihood of irreversible permanent personal and professional repercussions of such a disclosure. This is especially true of Lariam poisoning victims because of the specific nature of some of the more serious symptoms.
      Everyone single GWOT Vet I know was coached on exactly what to say during the post deployment psych screenings to avoid getting jammed up and sent on a involuntary vacation to the funny pharm.

      Hi Sean, I took Mefloquinne when I was deployed outside of Afghanistan , ended up getting sent home early couldnt figure out what was wrong with me, terrible trembling, unable to sleep, hallucinations was really horrible. Been on several antidepressants and mood stabilizers over the years, they actually do help, I actually wrote this Dr. Nevin an email trying to find someone to help me in 2012, was a very scary time. Anyway hope your doing better now. Grey

    Could some of the veterans who have problems with PTSD be suffering from use of this drug? In Vietnam it was issued as Lariam. The doctor talks in this presentation about PTSD and Vietnam has he ever looked in use in Vietnam?

    • @i-..--..--..-i6985
      @i-..--..--..-i6985 Год назад

      A lot of symptoms precisely mimic those of PTSD which is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Lariam poisoning is actual physical damage the brain itself especially the limbic system aka. the lizard brain structures. Standard SSRI drugs prescribed to PTSD sufferes can actually make a lariam poisoning patient much much worse and more suicidal or violent. Most doctors don't know or care about this and will drown you in SSRIs and Benzos just to dope you up and don't bother them anymore.
