Lol
When I had a mild heart attack in 2021, I was given a diet that was the same one my father was given 50 years ago. My mother made the whole family eat this diet to support my father. He died at 66 from a massive heart attack. So, I’m not following it. Doctors and Nutritionists are way behind in updating their knowledge. I practice 16:8 intermittent fasting and trying to keep as much sugar and highly refined carbs out of my diet. I’ve lost 20 pounds and kept it off for a year. I hope to lose 15 more. Thank you Neisha for educating us and giving us the courage to trash what hasn’t worked for years. Heart is still the #1 killer in the U.S.
Thank you for sharing your story. ❤
Let me guess was it called the DASH diet, where you eat this soup made of cabbage, tomatoes and ground beef? lol They call that the ''Heart Attack Diet'' here in Canada. I did that for a year. What I got from that diet was more arthritis than ever in my life, a blown out knee cause by higher levels of inflammation and 100 pounds lost do to malnutrition. The best thing I got from that diet was the will to look up what causes inflammation and that lead me down the rabbit hole to the lion diet. I'm not healthy and happy and full of meat and salt :P
They aren’t behind they are being taught straight lies about health ..
I can't agree with you more! I am a dietitian and worked for 8 years on the heart floor revising their diet and teaching the "heart healthy'" diet. I wish I knew now what I did not know then. It is even harder being a dietitian and being carnivore, I am glad I have a private practice because I would not like the criticism from co workers.
@PrimalPathWellness well done for the rethink
I'm 69. The picture of me is current. The past 10 years I've experienced an increasing number of 'minor' health issues. My doctor's advice? "You're healthier than most people. Keep doing what you're doing, it's a normal part of aging." But...I stumbled on the carnivore community a year ago, and as someone who has always enjoyed meat, but under government nutrition advice avoided it, I was intrigued.
Three months of reading and research (nine books by various authors like Sally Norton) and digging into videos by Chaffee and many others I decided to give it a try. Nothing to lose, I thought. Since then, all my 'minor' health issues are gone. My energy is like it was 30 years ago, my stamina is better, my digestion issues are gone (minor but persistent bloating, irritated bowel movements, minor joint pain, lack of flexibility, and so much more.)
BUT after nine months on 95% carnivore I had to face a very difficult personal realization: I am an addict. A sugar and carb addict. There were several times during my carnivore transformation that I gave in and ate sugar and carbs. Why? My addicted brain said "hey there, you've been sooooo good, have a treat (!)" only to regret it. Why? Because it didn't stop with ONE treat. It triggered a response for another, and another, until my digestion began to suffer again, my energy went up and down, and my stamina deteriorated. I'd get angry with myself, but I didn't know why. Now I do know. I'm an addict. And I don't say that jokingly as I recognize that addictions are serious and take many forms and have many degrees. So...if you decide to go on this carnivore journey, don't beat yourself up if you stray from it. Don't let that make you give up. Be kind to yourself! Turn to the carnicom for support, or have a conversation with yourself. Look in the mirror, literally, and say out loud "Hey, you screwed up, but that's ok! I forgive you." And then go eat a steak! Cheers, love and support to all who embark on this journey, and EAT THE BACON!
Google ‘The Carb Addiction Doc’
Love this! I’m in the same boat! I was able to fairly easily quit alcohol and smoking, but sugar addiction is still such a battle. Definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever fought.
Thank you for your encouraging words 😁🙏🏻
@@greenebronze Thanks for being so honest. I never smoked but I've loved red wine and scotch all my life (I had a pretty decent cellar of a few hundred bottles) and it's been tough to quit those. I will still have a small glass of wine socially, but I've lost my taste for it! By the way, I watched your videos with fascination. Are those pieces yours? My mother and father were highly accomplished artists in their respective fields so I know the highs and lows of that world. I've been in the world of music all my life. Cheers and EAT THE BACON!
Brilliant story and explanation of the challenges we face.
On our channel we reviewed five connected addictions with sugar being the top one and most people don’t even realise they are even addicted
@@theprimallifestyle Sugar addiction is such a difficult subject. No one wants to hear the world 'addicting' or 'addicted' because we associate those terms with drug addicts. And so few people even realize that the immediate insulin response to any form of sugar is only part of the problem. The dopamine rush that comes with sugar is not much different than the effects of cocaine and heroin. If I may be blunt, the sugar and food industry is the largest legalized drug dealer in the history of the world. Keep up the great work! Cheers and EAT THE BACON!
My hospitalized 69 year old brother had an argument with a staff doctor when he asked him if the hospital has a dietician, cuz he couldnt have spinal surgery until they got his sugar way down, but they were feeding him fruit cups, oatmeal, pancakes with syrup, carb filled foods!
The doc told him “There is nothing wrong with the type of food we feed you, its all based on a BALANCED DIET”.
That and other things let us know this MI hospital is worthless. 🙏🏻
GrammaPatriot; I know you are right. I in three days asked for diabetic meal ( 10 yrs ago ) and they brought all that high carb high sugar food in ! I lost a couple of lbs and after complaining one staff member said I can call in and order.
Kept getting " that's too much sodium " & I'd adjust some. Then they'd ask in I wanted a coke or low far high sugar milk.
I have a sibling that would eat all that diabetic HcHs food. Sibling is 320 (175 in college & 14% body fat athlete !) and cannot walk since 68 yo! On 12 meds. I was headed that direction and 7 other family members followed the diabetic route. They call me lucky (@73) & still think since going keto then carnivore I will die. Ride bike and play baseball etc with my grandkids. So sad.
@@tubetime39 Amen, good for you! Ive learned so much in the last several years, but when i try to share it with my kids n grandkids, a few of them just shrug it off. So im trying carnivore, not strict yet, and joined a FB group on parasites in our body that cause illnesses…i wont even go there with them yet 🤣🤣. God bless you and good luck. When i do a few days strict carnivore, i feel so good, and so much younger than 67 years old! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
My husband had a heart attack 2021. He had some grapes on his bedside table in the hospital. A dietician came to see him and told him the grapes were not good (rightfully so) However, she didn't mention the breakfast cereal, cake and custard etc they were serving him. 🤷
That's ALL hospitals.
I had an experience 3 years ago when I had a stroke with Covid (!!) and spent 3-4 weeks in a UCLA hospital with rehab following!! I had the choice of pancakes and waffles and cereals etc!! I luckily chose better with omelettes etc but it was no thanks to the docs or caretakers at all!!!👎
I sadly have eaten the SAD most of my adult life. But I never really ate sugary products. But lots of vegetables. Where did it get me? I had to have my gallbladder removed 4 years ago. Then, two weeks ago, I found myself needing surgery to remove a stone from my biliary ducts. It was damaging my liver. Some of my blood work showed I had loss of muscle. Which said it was from a vegetarian diet, which was pretty much what I was consuming for years.. I am now eating Carnivore Like I have heard, Dr. Berry talked about it! I am feeling so much better than I have in my life!
It truly is a SAD diet! As this lady points out 4:54, the SAD diet is even built into hospital tube feedings!! She said that tube feedings contain the same ingredients as junk food (corn syrup, soy, sugar, canola oil). Appalling.
So glad you found the way. Good luck healing.
@@MusicisMedicine-r6zThat's so horrible and wrong, wow!
@@veronical3135 Yes. She said patients' families can pay out of pocket for better formulas but it is so unethical that a healthy formula can't be standard for all!
I have been carnivore for nearly 8 months. 20kgs down, 3 dress sizes down, blocked sweat glands healed when I stopped poisoning myself with oxalates and sugar.
No one believes me re oxalates
I’m another carnivore & keto friendly dietitian. I’m so thankful that I found Dr. Berry’s RUclips channel back in 2018. Also, thanks to Michelle for sharing her story and continuing to advocate for metabolic health. Great interview Neisha! ❤
The dieticians that I have dealt with wanted me to eat 4 -5 times a day and expected me to lose weight. Never happened. IF and eating ketovore/carnivore made me lose 40lbs in 3 months.
Its also funny that if they had told you to eat carnivore you could eat as many times and as much as you wanted and lost the weight anyway 👌 i stopped exercrise just to prove my friend that gym and running while eating SAD is useless. I made sure i never moved beyong my work and ate only bacon, eggs beef, butter , salt and lost weight 35lbs in 2months while still growing my bicep about 1,5inces 3,5cm
@@Late87sure you did little guy
@Late87 well that's just not exactly how that works. The idea that "you can eat how much you want" has some fallacy to it. Thing about eating highly satiating protein and fat, most typically you can only eat so much before your brain tells you that's enough. That being said you CAN get fat eating carnivore. It will be very difficult simply because you typically won't be hungry. But if you were bored eating and being sedentary you will absolutely gain weight. It has nothing to do with it being meat that you don't get fat. If you ate the same amount of meat, that you would carbs which are much more highly palatable and fast digesting, you will gain body fat regardless.
TLDR: You lost weight because you ate less calories than you needed to maintain weight.
I think one of the saddest things is when you see the food that is provided in hospitals, daycare, schools, retirement, homes, etc. It is a crime. I really hope RFK Junior can do something about that.

I've been a nutrition researcher since reading Adelle Davis when I was 17-- so over 50 years. I've been an n=1 researcher testing out nearly ALL mainstream or heterodox diets but still have not successfully eliminated systemic inflammation and metabolic dysfunction that just coincidentally began after two virus immunity boosters when I was four. Fifty years of DEEP research and curiosity, and I JUST discovered how toxic the stealth accumulation of OXALATES (only occurring in PLANTS) has been to my metabolism over 70 years!
Sally K. Norton has a Masters in Public Health and a wide breadth of actual nutrition-- her YT interviews-- particularly the one showing pictures of CHRONIC EYES STYES which I have been baffled by for the past 6 months-- and her book _Toxic Superfoods_ have really opened my eyes (and cleared up my styes!) about toxic oxalates in plants.
Neisha, I would love to see you interview Sally K. Norton-- she's another pioneer of information like you and your guests!
Dr Berry may have interviewed her.
Adelle Davis - haven't heard that name in years! We both are of the same original mislead generation.
@@whereswendy8544Me too....I was vegetarian after reading Diet For a Small Planet from 1974-88. By the end my health had completely collapsed. Reintroduced meat but still low fat until 2009. Went keto and later carnivore and now completely healthy for the first time in my late 60s.
Sally K Norton was the one who showed me the light ❤
One of the most amazing things about going ketogenic is the freedom from lifelong cravings. It’s so liberating and for me was the first time I realized that I wasn’t weak-willed…just metabolically very sick.
I took the Dietetics education in college and quit. I wanted to learn about nutrition... not "Coca-Cola in moderation " because the US Dietetics association is OWNED by Big Food Corp. Plesse interview Mary Ruddick, Dr Natasha Campbell Mcbride, Dr Bill Schindler and Sally Fallon Morell!!! ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
We see Dr Schindler all the time…we live 45 minutes from his bakery…everything(all breads/pastries) are sourdough based! He is such a friendly and knowledgeable person!
Makes perfect sense! This is why I chose to get a master of science in human nutrition from a root cause focused program rather than dietetics.
And Joan Ifland, too!
They really teach Coca Cola in moderation???
@@StrongBodyandMind33 mind blowing 🤯, right?
I'm very resentful towards the medical industry. I was an elite gymnast. I was in the best shape of my life. And also diagnosed diabetic. I was originally diagnosed with type 1 and 1.5. But now I'm definitely a type 2.
However, my insulin resistant levels are low . My CPeptides are barely making the cut off. But I don't have any antibodies. I was never a by the book type 2 diabetic until they put me on diabetic meds. Now I am overweight and have high blood pressure. With a belly. My eight pack is long gone. All the symptoms of diabetes they warn me about only start it once I got back on insulin. I even have cellulite and my healing has slowed down.
I recovered from a minor eating disorder and part of that was forcing myself to follow the diabetic diet they recommend. That was the light at the end of my tunnel. Instead of restricting foods I was able to tell myself to feel pride that I was taking control of my health. Little did I know I was killing myself slowly.
I was in high school. I thought I was doing the right thing by eating oatmeal , chia seed pudding and whole grain breads. And I was avoiding fats. My cholesterol was always so low that doctors praised me. But at the same time I struggled with anxiety and depression as a result of that. And my hormones and neurotransmitters were tanking. At 28 a doctor told me I was in late stages of perimenopause. And it was possible I also had hashimoto's. Unfortunately I don't have the best health care so the last 10 years no one's done anything about that. That one doctor who wasn't a hormonal specialist he was an asthma doctor was the only doctor who took full panel labs and told me I could benefit from a ketogenic diet. It took me another 10 years to fully get there . However his words stuck with me. At first I thought he was insane to recommend I eat mostly fatty foods. But it was a seed of hope.
I continue to eat whole grains ,high GI foods and avoid fats. And the only protein I was eating was lean cuts and a limited amount. Probably the standard 4 to 6 oz.
Now I'm 37 still on insulin (just a lot less).... and I have chronic kidney disease.
I have done everything they told me to do. That's when I realized what my doctors were recommending (and still recommend to this day ) is not going to save my life. Once this movement started it gave me the confidence I needed to give a more ketogenic lifestyle a try. It was no longer that's really bizarre concept that only one doctor mentioned.
However.....my doctor now writes I am" medical non-compliant" on my charts. Because I avoid the standard medications they push for all diabetics. including Ace inhibitors as a protectant , as well as statins to protect my kidneys and I only take long acting insulin. No meal time insulin... And most of all because I refuse to follow ADA advice. My doctors have done nothing but demonize a low-carb diet. Especially because I'm an early stages of kidney disease the consensus is I should avoid protein and sodium. However I just keep upping it. But I am down to only using 10 to 15 units of insulin a day. Which I'm hoping would help me lose the 50lbs I gained on insulin....lowering my blood pressure and eventually helping my kidney disease.
What they recommend I know for sure would only lead me to dialysis and death ....a lot faster.
God bless you and give you peace to go through with the steps of full carnivore for just two weeks.
All meats cooked roasted, baked, grilled, sautéed or air fried plus eggs cooked in olive oil.
Fresh salmon grilled seasoned with s&p and fresh lemon juice . Plus, if you like em Sardines in olive oil are great for quick snacks with pork rinds.
Then, slowly add back with very small amounts of low glycemic leafy vegetables. Leaf spinach. Cabbage,or collards cooked with smoked Ham Hocks.
Or start with 1/2 cup Italian green beans cooked with olive oil and crisp bacon crumble.
Plus a cup sourkraut w/Black Pepper .
With sliced boiled eggs. Don't worry or be anxious about either natural animal fat ( stick with zero hormones steroids and /or grass fed organic natural all the way) use real butter or none .
Discover the goodness of Extra Virgin Olive Oil as a good substitute for all oils. For frying try pure coconut oil.
I use cold processed Avocado mayonnaise , Dill relish and prepared mustard with egg yokes for
' deviled eggs ' sprinkled with Cayenne pepper. They are a go-to for anytime snack from fridge or with a nice thick ribeye steak with asparagus spears.
Eat all you want and or satiated and feel good about the positive steps you have taken.
Nothing modified, enriched and/or processed .
Use fresh ground Himalayan salt and fresh ground pepper.
I use fresh lemons and zest for cooking
plus I use chia seeds in all my recipes ( those green beans and cooked leafy vegetables) .
I am 74 yrs young single ole man and prepare all my own meals now. I started out strict carnivore for only two weeks then added back slowly just like above.

" Good, keep on doing whatever you are doing. "
My labs are great and my BP is low.

I’m a clinical dietitian, ketovore for 9 years following cancer survival; and attest 💯 what you are saying. I spend time teaching medical residents, RNs, and attending physicians. They have so little education in med school and most of it is food pyramid level. It’s SO refreshing to hear you give & defend solid nutrition advice 🎉🙌🏻
Remember don’t lump everyone in the same group. I’m a RD and am very much on the functional medicine side. Food is medicine. I am not carnivore, guess Neisha I’m ketovore. Thankful for RD’s that are getting away from the things we were taught.
That’s great Paula. Trying not to lump dietitians and nutritionists in the same group but when my YT algorithm keeps coming up with plant based or plant focused suggestions, it’s tricky. Sensible people like you are certainly out there, they just need to be more outspoken. 👏🇦🇺
That's great, still rare to find, but at least numbers of aware dieticians are slowly increasing

One reason I eat this way is for my mental health. I deal with the constant stress from my bipolar paranoid schizophrenic husband. Day by day he has horrific behavior. Living in Japan there is ample seafood. That helped me drop weight quickly. Americans need more seafood and seaweed to balance their thyroid. Tofu is non gmo and abundant in their diets with some fatty meats a tiny amount. I have seen one obese child so far. & no one says one two servings a week of seafood here either. Produce is seasonal and tastes fresh. No bloating here with so much mushrooms, greens and more. USA poisons us on perfect even through meat and seafood.

👍 I had a dietitian tell me to eat 200 grams carbohydrates daily. I already knew 90 grams was my max from weight watchers (2 breads, 2 fruits, 2 milks) then I started Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet by Rachel Heller. Wow! 1994. Carbs at dinner only after a salad. Newbie to the lifestyle and very greatful for this interview and all the information yall have shared, thankyou very much ✌🏽
You talked about soo many familiar things!! Why we get sick but ben Bickman is another book!
Hey Neisha,
Thank you for your open mind 😘
That was a wonderful interview! I have Michelle’s book and read it a couple years ago, now want to read it again! Thank you both.
Thank you 😊 what's not to love about improved energy, sleep, balance, memory, skin, mood ... more tgan a year of carnivore 😊
The carnivore diet/way of life has changed my life greatly. I don't have any more issues with IBS or GERD.
I tried a carnivore diet for 4 months eating a large amount of grass fed & finished beef, pasture raise lamb, some wild red meat like elk & bison, 6 free range organic eggs a day, and a bit of fish was most of my diet … I thought I picked all the best foods 😎🤙
And right around the 4 month point into my diet, I started feeling this out of touch, almost spaced-out feeling/condition, where I would sometimes feel out of body in a detached way, and when I started eating avocados and a bit of kale again, it went away.
Would you know what nutrients or micronutrients could have been missing to get this sort of spaced out feeling?

UPDATE ABOUT 4 DAYS LATER…
After I posted that comment, I started to remember more about that memory about how I was actually feeling and it dawned on me what it reminds me of now that I’m more advanced with my keto four years later.
I think it was simply a potassium deficiency from all the extra water that I was drinking, and it was in the summertime when I was exercising I feel a lot more.
You lose your ability to stay focussed and almost feel a little out of body.
I experienced a potassium deficiency (figured out after lots of research) about two years ago and supplementing my potassium definitely was a game changer with the amount of water I consume.
And I remember the feelings were similar to that experience I had four years ago with carnivore… So funny it was so simple to fix. Live and learn… And much smarter now.
Yeah I’m scared to eat fruit and veggies - not because they’re “not clean” but rather because I’m afraid of the damage they will cause to my GI tract as well as mental health. I don’t see the problem with being afraid of getting seriously hurt!
As an old lady who grew up on the SAD, became a young adult about the same time the food pyramid was published, and struggled with my weight for decades…keep up the good work. Keto and Carnivore are saving lives. You and others like you are saving 100s of thousands of lives. Thank you.
Finally a smart dietician! Great video!
there are always diet police and think their way is written in stone. I like your way. Do what works. I have learned the hard way by trying to follow these keto police... they just stressed me out and made things worse. Thank, you do you I will do me is my motto.
😊 8:09 😊
I do ketovore, day 4 barely. But I’m already feeling better. Enough is enough for this salty gal😀 with the help of Dr. Berry and Niesha. My body is already craving the salt. I must try element at least once ☺️thank you for what you do!
I love beef, but it makes me under eat because I get full so quickly. So I always pair my burger patties with 2 ounces of raw/aged cheese, shrimp, or salmon. I eat a lot of salmon. I like chicken but since going Carnivore, it I ever have pork belly, Salmon or Beef - the chicken kinda gets over looked lol. Around my period I want Wings with lots of butter/tallow and I crave milk. That's the only time I really eat chicken now. I'm currently obsessed with "Adult Lunchables". I have these cute meal prep containers that have 3 portioned sections. Cheese goes in the small one, 2 types cubed meat (whatever I feel like eating) goes in the other, and 2 browned butter bites. My Fiance and I are gamers, and I work from home, so I bought a walking pad to walk slowly while I watch youtube, anime, or game and the weight has melted off. I feel so good now I actually do want to workout and go outside. My skin is clear, my hair is growing like a weed and I look like I aged backwards. Very blessed that I accidently found Dr Berry and Steak and Butter Gal. The amount of stress and anxiety that has been lifted off my shoulders since simply changing my diet and walking is unreal. I am so grateful.
We love Michelle! ❤❤❤
Great information and great interview. Thank you. ❤😊❤
Neisha, This is the first video of yours that I've ever watched. What a great interview.
Love Michelle’s shirt. Where to get one? Bought her book very impressive informative expert.
Great conversation ladies! Loved it.
Fantastic interview. Thank you for the introduction to this super woman!❤❤
Carnivore women have a certain calmness and glow. Even happened with my wife. It's a beautiful thing.
Yesterday I was diagnosed with NAFLD, high cholesterol etc. I've been trying carnivore since binging on your videos a few weeks ago, and Ken's. I have Hashimotos. Also recently finished 2 rounds of abx for hpylori. I think the NAFLD is related to Clarythmycin. It's a real leap of faith for me to keep eating the ketovore way. All advice is to cut out all red meat. Any tips?🇳🇿🙏
Working on keeping keto diet for mental health. Loads of new data coming out on the topic.
Another great video with great information!!
Nice talk , thank you . I started Keto around 4 years ago, transitioned into carnivore around 8-9 months latter simply because I could not stomach Broccoli any longer... it came a point that any plants didn't sit well with me , specially carbs so I went full animal based , I eat cheese , Yogurt , lots of butter and any type of meat , fish etc . Never in my life felt better , all the benefits are named enough around but gosh it feels so good to feel healthy ... nothing tops that. All the best folks
Thank you Nisha and Michelle you both are super stars 🥩🧈🥓🍳😊PHD xoxo
They all have the same talking points. A dìetitian did say to me, "it's not sustainable." 😂😂
She said this to me after I bared my soul and mentioned decades long issues with IBS.
Nice to listen to a dietitian who is not regurgitating the the corporate medical talking points and is being honest about what is actually a healthy diet.
She's also on RUclips (Dietician's Dilemma).
I'm loving you channel, I follow your live on a Monday.
I'm here from the UK. I have had huge mental health struggles from biopolar, pmdd, adhd, and breast cancer. I was paleo for 3 years and then went down the rabbit hole of epigenetics. I was introduced to carnivore via Dr Rachel Brown, I have been on this diet or lifestyle change for 6 weeks and felt the benefit within 1 week. I obviously have been infertile and feel this way of life will help me conceive.
I have bought your book Michelle! Keep up the fantastic work, ladies.
❤❤❤
I so enjoyed listening to this- thank u. Neisha -I so would love u to interview someone on the topic of Parkinson’s disease. Ps can u do that ?
Wonderful interview Neisha.
Thank you for sharing. This is wonderful. I am so glad to share good advice like this.
Living in Japan there is ample seafood. That helped me drop weight quickly. Americans need more seafood and seaweed to balance their thyroid. Tofu is non gmo and abundant in their diets with some fatty meats a tiny amount. I have seen one obese child so far.
Excellent interview ❤
Such a great video! I enjoyed listening to this so much!
I love her book! I love her!!
Thankful for you both ❤
That is the misconception when you use the word diet, which is synonymous with all the fad diets. It truly is a life style and for me, at almost 74 and a sugar junkie for 70 of those years, this is a life saver. To be this age and take no medication is a luxury, but a nightmare for all the doctors and surgeons that may see this as an unwelcome trend in their patients. I switched after having an arthritis induced fracture of the knee and told to reduce my movement and would need a knee replacement in a couple of years. No arthritis today or after being on this "diet" for three weeks.
Moderation keeps the dietitian safe from malpractice advice
Great interview definitely getting her book
Very good episode. Thank you.
a debate so heated Neisha had to change shirts mid way through.
Your videos are such an inspiration. If you ever wonder if it's worth it to keep making them, I can tell you for myself it's absolutely worth it! Thank you.
Prefer beef only. Feel the best 💯
Great interview! I loved it.
Love her shirt
Why is there an eating disorder hotline added to this video? Lol. Sounds like RUclips is now saying carnivore is an eating disorder. LMAO... The worst part is I'm sure that hotline will recommend the SAD diet. Ugh.
Appreciate you both so much 🙏💗
Great conversation ladies.
Love this! Thank you!
Hey, Neisha! Just a friendly reminder that the word “dietitian” in the title is plural, not possessive. So the apostrophe is unnecessary. Love you!
lol thank you !!!
Words like balanced and healthy don't say much, it means different things to different people.
