    Don't get me wrong, I love the dishes and I love everything about these videos, but what REALLY makes me come back is watching Maangchi butcher and clean protein. I don't know why, but it is really relaxing and enjoyable.

    It's raining here in SoCal, but not inside the house with Maangchi and her pollack fish friends. Those guys looked delicious! I am on heavy meds for a bacterial infection after some surgery, and for some reason I am craving fish all the time. A lot of fish guys are ending up in my stomach, and I feel better. Thanks guys! (And thanks, Maangchi!) ;-)

    Not only in Asia do they not remove the bones, in the Caribbean we also do not remove the bones. My friends when they come over to eat with my Jamaican family they were so shocked to see us eat the fish with the bones, and also when we eat the head. They said we were going through the fish and removing the bones like machines, we did it all our life it is like second nature now hehe. Happy New Year Maangchi! I love your videos and I hope you have a great 2018.

      I was going to write the same thing! I remember eating whole fried fish (including the head) every Easter with onions, peppers and hard-dough bread. Only the children would get the fish with the bones removed!

      @mrs.a 6 лет назад +5

      Oh my gosh!!! Yaaas gurl!!! Southern Caribbean here. everything is cooked with bones. All the flavour is in there. And you do get used to sectioning meat and bones at lightning speed while eating.

    • @TheVampsQueen

      Korean moms are the best! My mom makes me anything I want when I visit. My grandma doesn’t speak English, but anytime I see her, she hustles me into the kitchen, sits me down and puts a huge plate of food in front of me and tells me to eat. Korean grandmas are the best too.

    Looks so delicious like all your other dishes! Will make this, but I am not throwing away any of the head parts except for the bitter black thin strip! I grew up eating fish heads (in Bangladesh) almost every day and love eyeballs and gills (we clean the gills thoroughly).

    Maangchi, that peeler that makes the beautiful pattern, we used that to shred the raw papaya for the popular Thai papaya salad dish. Easier and faster instead of chop with knife and shred. If you ever make the papaya dish in the future that peeler will be a great tool for prepping that dish :)

    • @cassihoney10
      @cassihoney10 6 лет назад +1

      kang xiong
      she made it before, but she didnt use the peeler. She hand chop them instead, not the Thai way, the korean way where she always show us how to thinly cut radish or carrot strip. hahaha😂😂

When you cook fish next time, leave the tail on and try it. It cooks up nice and crispy. My favorite bite. God bless.

    I treated myself to your cookbook for Christmas and already made your beef jerky recipe using elk meat. It came out very nice.
